NEW TRACKS: Foster The People - ‘Coming Of Age’
It’s been nearly three years since the Foster the People released their electronic-pop hit Torches, an album that screams California cool. Lucky for us, the L.A. based-trio recently announced plans to release their second album, Supermodel, on March 18th. For those of you who can’t wait another two months for new FTP (myself included), the band did you a favor; the first single, titled “Coming of Age” was released on January 13th.
New track is exactly what we need to get through these snowy days—“Coming of Age” has that catchy summery feel we’ve come to know and love as Foster the People’s trademark sound. The track begins with an airy synth and a toe-tapping beat and expands into the melodic pop tunes that Foster has made entirely their own.
P.S. Major cool points go to the boys for painting a massive mural on the side of a Los Angeles building. Be sure to watch the video to catch of glimpse of what the album art for Supermodel will look like.

If you’ve ever searched for an ambient and hip hop combo, Taydevenny might be who you’re looking for. Taydevenny is a rapper from the UK whose rhymes fit in perfect harmony with the ambient, alternative inspired beats he uses in his tracks. “Arabian Seas” is a dreamlike number.

I love ambient hip hop goddamn.
KEEP YER EYES PEELED: The Handsome Family
This band is the cat’s meow. That’s not the kind of thing I throw around. They get lumped together with alt-country bands, but this label does not do the music justice. I can only describe their sound as the unusual combination of country western and 80’s goth rock, and it works. The band’s song, Far from Any Road, is used as the opening song for HBO’s new show, True Detective. With such exposure and original concepts, I expect this band’s popularity skyrocket in the near future.
