IN THE AIR TONIGHT – FINALLY...THE FIRST FAREWELL TOUR (2004)
IN THE AIR TONIGHT is a song by English singer-songwriter PHIL COLLINS.
Having rubbished all the false stories surrounding the song in an interview with BBC, PHIL COLLINS said the song has nothing to do with someone drowning and that it is mainly based on the anger he felt when he was going through a bitter divorce with his first wife ANDREA BERTORELLI, whom he found out was cheating on him with their interior decorator.
According to PHIL COLLINS, he was so devastated by his wife’s unfaithfulness during the writing process of IN THE AIR TONIGHT that he poured all the anger into the song.
Beyond the song being about the anger he felt about his separation from ANDREA BERTORELLI, he was not really sure what the song is all about since he wrote the song’s lyrics spontaneously.
JESUS CHRIST is often seen as a source of healing and restoration for individuals and couples facing the pain of divorce.
STEPS TO HEALING AFTER DIVORCE
SURRENDER TO GOD: Couples are encouraged to fully surrender their pain and struggles to JESUS CHRIST. This act of trust can open the door to healing.
SEEK FORGIVENESS: Forgiveness is a crucial step. This includes forgiving oneself and the former spouse, which can alleviate feelings of guilt and resentment.
REBUILD TRUST: Couples who wish to reconcile must work on rebuilding trust. This often involves open communication and a commitment to change.
FOCUS ON SPIRITUAL GROWTH: Engaging in prayer, reading scripture, and participating in a faith community can strengthen the couple’s relationship with God and each other.
TESTIMONIES OF RESTORATION

They report that through faith, they found renewed love and commitment, often describing their relationship as a miracle.
