Music While Working?

Have you ever listened to music while you studied, worked, cleaned, etc? I think we all have. But, have you ever listened to music and it distracted you to where you couldn't think? or you just cant stop singing along? I think there is a simple yet interesting solution to this predicament.

I read a study of music and how it appeals to the brain. The thing that appeals to the brain is called the syncopation which by definition means varied rhythms. Too high of these and a song becomes a bit off putting, too little its boring. I think this can help explain what point im going to make in this blog post.

For a song to trigger movement in the body it has to have a medium amount of syncopation. which makes you want to dance or sing along or do that awesome air guitar. I think there are certain tasks that fit with certain types of music depending on rythm variety and also BPMs (beats per minute).

This point im trying to make may not be the same for everyone but this is how I find a way to find the perfect music for the perfect tasks. If you only like one genre of music this may not apply to you. because I love all genre of music and I usually go through genres of music while I work to see which one helps me be more productive. If you keep reading after I explain my theory of finding the right tunes for the right task.

First of all, I am ADHD so this may be different for others but music is very important in my life and it has helped me through high school and college. However, I had to find the right tunes, because If I listened to too catchy of songs my brain will get in this loop of dancing, singing, and imagining the music video (or make up one don’t know if anyone else does that.). So I went through all my favorite genres, which is mainly in the rock relm. After much experimenting I found that indie-rock works for homework. I think this is because it has enough rhythm variety to keep me awake, but not so much BPM that it makes me hyper (musical bliss - what I call it).

So what you can do if you only like one genre of music. such as country. if you like country explore all the sub genres and see which songs allow you to focus on your work, but also keep you happy and entertained. Since I am just getting into giving country a chance, I really like country rock or pop rock. Its not too wild but its not too boring either. And for metal...probably not speed metal.. that puts me into hyper mode real fast. DEFINITELY NOT YOUR FAV METALLICA SONGS... unfortunately...or welcome to the black parade if you like emo still. (i do) whenever welcome to the black parade comes on I cant help myself but to go into musical bliss. I kinda made a list of songs that affected me in this way.

The only tasks to bring out all the favorite songs all together that put you into musical bliss is when your doing physical labor, such as cleaning! if your cleaning, fixing things, working out, etc. These are perfect because they tend to make you happy and not think about the boring work your doing.

moral of the blog DONT USE YOUR FAVORITE SONGS WHILE DOING HOMEWORK unless you dont have attention probs then its ok i guess.

Oh one more thing, best songs to workout to his high BPM such as dance music or metal. 120 BPM is recommend by some websites I go higher sometimes cause of ADHD.

Fall Out Boy | M A N I A

Hello again everyone! Today I am reviewing fall out boy’s M A N I A. I have been a fan of fall out boy since high school and when I got the notification for this album on Spotify I was excited! I couldn’t wait to open up the album and listen.

So first I’ll list my fav songs of the album. So my favs are “stay frosty royal milk teal”, “ the last of the real ones”, “Wilson (expensive mistakes)”, “church”, “heavens gate”, “champion”, “sunshine riptide”, and “young and menace”.

Fall Out boy did it again! They made an amazing album! I love it. However it does have its positives and downfalls.

First, the amazing ness that I am talking about is that it rocks! Most of these song you can head bang to.

Second, the design of the album is great! I am a graphic design major and just finished college. I really love the design. The album cover is modern and clean cut. The fonts fit and the imagery is interesting. I also love purple.

Third, I predict champion or last of the real ones will end up high on the charts or in the hits radio channel. Champion is my favorite. Fourth, the lyrics are great and relatable. There was a part in “Wilson” there is a lyric that says “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color” I love that that is me to the max.

Fourth, I those their use of bells in a few songs. I think they were great touches.

However, there are downsides. Only two downfalls I can think of. First, a couple of them are too slow to build up for my tastes. It’s either it was too slow a start or the pacing was off. I’m not sure wich. Second, a couple songs were a little too pop like for my liking.

Overall, I think this is the best album in recent years. I really think this. As you can see I loved almost all the songs of the album. I give this album a solid 4 stars out of 5. I took one star away for the downsides listed.

hello! Welcome to my music blog! I started this blog as an outlet to write about my favorite music that i discover or music i hate.

so today i am reviewing taylor swifts newest album “reputation” and i am not a big fan of pop music but i have been giving it more of a chance lately so this is me giving it a chance. Let me know if you like these blogs and ill write more. Feel free to suggest music to me.

so i listened to this album and watched the music videos and boy oh boy taylor is not the same as she was when i was in high school. She is a bad girl now or just trying really hard to be edgey…lets go with the second one. So after doing some research lots of these songs seem to be all about tay’s celeb drama or her trying to break from a shell of fake personalities…. *facepalm* to me in the videos it looks like shes trying way to hard to be sexy/hip but to me its saying “look at me im sexy and grown up now” IDK if thats just me.

alright for the music i liked “look what you made me do” and some other one i cant remember the name of. But thats it only two songs…thats sad. i was expecting a bit more but thats ok.

so what this album sounded like was taylor trying to rap while half singing. Not like in a good way like fetty wap, but idk badly. Don’t get me wrong some of the lyrics were cool but most of it seemed to be repetitive and meaningless.

The exact reason i left pop in the first place. It seems to only be about getting that booty, partying, drama, or being rich. Nothing about problems or real life things people can relate to. I predict that only two of these songs will be noticed by the radio.

so thats disappointing because with all the hype about her album from friends at work…i guess i was expecting too much?
