I just realized that in the pilot for Knights of Guinevere, the scene with the girls at the claw machine is Frankie’s memory of the event.

This explains why it takes place in a dark void: all that exists is what was important to Frankie. Herself, Andi, her hacking device, and the claw machine with plushies.

And the Princess.

Which also means that the audience is seeing Frankie’s perception of Guinevere here.

Which… doesn’t alway match other what other people are seeing.

It’s obvious that Frankie and Andi didn’t meet just any Guinevere gynoid that day.

They met the Gwen, broken and tortured, on one of her brief escapes.

Which is why Frankie needed to fix her glitching finger.

(potentially, that specific finger is the only one missing on the remaining hand in the current day because Olivia realized someone else had fixed Guinevere, and removed it in anger or because it had become “tainted” by another’s hand)

This would also explain why that memory is so strangely significant to Frankie.

Now, the question remains if Frankie’s perception of reality is linked to Gwen specifically (i.e. they share a visual perception), is just influenced by Gwen but there is a connection between the two, or only coincidentally similar to Gwen (as in, based in Frankie’s love of fantasy and not connected to Gwen at all)…

(based on the pilot, I’m currently headcanoning thar Frankie would have hallucinations regardless of her connection to Guinevere, either from trauma or disorder based reasons. however, because of her specific brain issues she is able to form this connection, which brings her psychotic perceptions in line with the reality Gwen creates to cope with her own trauma)

Something just came to my mind. Previously one of the minor criticisms I had about the Backrooms movie was the scene where Mary yells at Clark. It kinda took me out of the film because even in the stressful situation that she was in, I don't see any reasonable therapist yelling at a clearly mentally deranged man like that, which could've easily turned things farther south and thus put both the therapist and their client in harm's way.

The more I think about it though, and maybe this was pretty obvious to some, the more I feel like that was intentional. Mary is not a good therapist. In the sense that she thinks she has to "help" her clients. Now maybe that's confusing. Isn't that the job of a therapist? Well, not exactly, as one of my previous therapists said to me: "I'm not here to help you. I'm here to guide you."

This all ties into her own trauma of dealing with her mother as a child. How she couldn't help her then and is still stuck up on that as a full grown adult. When Clark vaguely informed her that he was somewhere else via phone call, she couldn't have just called the police and request a welfare check like any sane and reasonable therapist would. No, she had to go search for Clark herself. She had to be the one to help him. She was breaching boundaries by personally going to the store.

So then we get to the dinner table scene where she yells at Clark. She does this out of frustration for Clark's behavior and inability to take responsibility of course, but she's equally frustrated that what she's been doing hasn't been working. Because she saw Clark as someone to she had to help instead of guide. To fix. To solve. To save. To bring up the same therapist again and paraphrase something they said to me regarding my mental state: "I do want you to get out of the shitbucket, but if you stay in there on your own choice, there's only so much that I can do." Mary basically went through one big wake up call in this movie.

All of this begs the question on if she actually cares about making her clients better or if she chose this job to make herself feel better about what previously happened in her traumatic past. To have some semblance of control that she didn't have when she was dealing with her mother.

I was kinda spoiled by the wedding episode that molly just gets fully replaced by another character (i havent finished the ep yet just incase theres any good twists) not sure if that means Molly just fully dies or leaves the party or even a secret third thing

White Lily is not a weak cookie. She has equal power to the other un-awakened Ancients, PLUS the power of Elder Faerie/the Guardian inside her. Not to mention the entire deal with Dark Enchantress powerscaling (but that's a separate issue)

The first thing I thought when I saw this shot was "ohhhhhhh stars. the shippers are going to have a field day with this." Because all the Beast/Ancient ships are like this to some degree?? We've been over this before????

If the worst thing Salt does to Lily is hold her at swordpoint, forcing her gaze UP?? Chat. I would kill to be in Lily's position here. Facing down my LITERAL SOULMATE who has gone through unimaginable pain, seeing myself reflected in him as he levels his sword at me with an unwavering hand??? As he projects all the pain he's felt -- how unworthy he feels, having failed all of his closest friends despite him being the paragon of solidarity, of friendship -- onto me?? Calling me unworthy even as he sees himself reflected in my eyes????? CINEMA.

The narrative foils between Salt and Lily CANNOT be overlooked here. Both of them failed their friends; Salt failed to stop them, and Lily failed to stop herself. They are both passively wishing/wondering if it would be better for them to crumble, as they think themselves unworthy failures who do not deserve to be hailed as heroes.

White Lily, in this shot? She is far from helpless. To insinuate that she is weak? That she cannot fight back here? It's fundamentally wrong.

Remember this leak from a few months back? Salt and Lily are equal in power!! They are staring each other down, self-loathing and empathy towards their mirror in equal measure, and I'M NOT NORMAL ABOUT EITHER OF THEM.

ANyways. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, SilentLily. My point is. Lily being held at swordpoint does not sink the ship. If anything, give that boat another mast. Threaten her MORE! It will make her awakening EVEN MORE SATISFYING. GIVE THEM TENSION!! EMOTIONS!! MORE DIMENSIONS THAN "big scary knight" AND "tiny flower girl" CAN ANYONE HEAR ME OR AM I JUST SHOUTING AT THE WALLS.

Newbie theorists, I am holding your hands and pleading: As you make your theories, ask yourself what they would add to the story if true. Because I've seen so many theorists run in a completely different direction than where the text is leading them and then they get mad when the story doesn't follow those paths.

I want to point out that the gang probably lost the smallest bit of trust in Jax due to his own breakdown. While we know the a lot more then the gang. For them, he's probably someone who only thinks of himself and only for himself when we know that its much more complicated then that simple reasoning.

I said this before and I say it again, I truely do not want to be in the circus. Not because of Jax or Caine (although they do play a heavy choice in people choices on this place.)

It's because of the mental affects it could have at one person. It's capable of bringing the worse in people, Ive seen a lot of theories on why Jax pressed the red button, a lot of it sliding to Caine wanting them to make the "right choice" when he was pretending to be able.

If all of that was true and if he believes that all of his guilt tripping wouldn't work on most of the circus member who are mentally prepared against them, he could start flame to the one who time and time again has shown the a means to straight up abstract. Against the one who isn't mentally well at all.

Making Jax expirence a breakdown that there's nothing positive in his life outside of the circus or theirs nothing waiting for him their then here?

As much selfish that is for him. I see why people believe that Caine some what influence Jax into behaving irrationally.

What Jax probably expirence in IRL probably align with what Caine current motives on making the circus members feel bad for ever wanting to leave.

This however should not ignore the fact that Jax and the gang thought that this whole adventure was real despite the clues of it not being so.

One thing to note his his relationship with kinger himself.

Before we point out the obvious. One thing to be said that what we know about Caine not knowing about human emotions should be called into question.

If ep 7 is to show us something is that he knows much more then he let's on.

We know of him causing the first abstraction with scratch. What about kinger?

Ive seen a lot of theories of kinger having a positive father and son relationship but what if that's not the case at all?

He's shown to alter minds and make people as he needs them to do in form of suggestions like the stupid sauce or making Jax vegan.

We see how that affects players choices and actions with Jax not wanting meat, how ragatha legit couldn't think before what she says but all of that was temporary.

What if there's a reason why that's like that? We know no real reason on why kinger is mostly sane in the dark other than his wife abstracted beforehand. We do know that his wife abstraction happen along time ago before ragatha joined the circus However.

Could it be that Caine was the main reason on why kinger act the way that he his? In order to prevent kinger and his wife from leaving, he could have alter their mind enough to the point where there might be a singular exit but it's lost now.

That could be thanks to Caine's ego on wanting everyone to stay here with them.

Caine is an ai with his own motives. A lot of people thought he was morally grey, a lot of people thought that he was good and a lot the opposite.

One thing to note that Jax and Caine are comparable when it comes to one self.

Meaning as much as I believe Caine is morally grey, it's mostly can be pointed to bad things if it align with what he wants. What he wants more since the start was people to praise him.

It's easier to point out Jax for be antagonistic for he is human, we can all see that.

Caine is the opposite for what he is and his programming, it doesn't prevent the matter that he can be an antagonist trying to get what he wants if it fits the program.

It doesn't help that he lied in the beginning when it comes to meddling with human mind. (That should have been a red hearing.)
