âžź How is my driving?
nightmares âś© ` + musketribbons
Mikan woke from her sleep covered in a cold sweat. Her panicked eyes scanned her bedroom, and she sat up immediately. Her roommates were still sleeping, and she brought her hands back to feel her hair. It’s choppy strands were still in place where they should have been, and she let out a breath of relief. The same nightmare had been haunting her for the past week, one where the hands of her old “friends” had chopped off her hair as punishment. After all, that’s where her current choppy hairstyle came from — and she hated it to pieces.Â
Wiping distressed tears from her eyes, the nurse slid on her slippers and sneaked out of the room, careful not to disturb anyone. Mikan knew the dangers of being out late, but at this point, she hadn’t particularly cared if someone were to take her horrible life away from her.Â
At first, she tried to open the cafeteria doors, only remembering that they locked after ten o’clock. As the nurse was about to continue on her way to try and find some place where she could get a water bottle, she ended up turning around and crashing right into someone else. “Uuu… I-I’m sorry…” She mumbled, not even able to look up at the person she had ran into. “P-Please punish me however y-you see fit…”
Mami simply couldn't sleep at the time, so she decided to explore the school by herself. It's not that her roommates would mind, anyway. Most students would have gone to bed at this time, but there would be the occasional student that looked quite threatening. It was important to stay alert, but she was starting to feel a bit tired.
As she was roaming around the school, she passed by the cafeteria, unaware of the other person. When she was about to head somewhere else someone suddenly bumped into her. Before she could say anything, the other girl began to apologize and mumble something incomprehensible.
"I should be the one apologizing, I wasn't looking. Anyway, are you alright?"
The nurse didn't seem fine at all, but what could she do to help?
Back to Where We Came From {Kyouko & Mami}
You know those days, where everything is so melancholic without explanation? Well, maybe there’s kind of an explanation, but it’s beyond her right now. She’s still really torn and behaving abnormally neurotic, but she’s been doing better about avoiding people and scavenging food from wherever she could. She’s not starving now, and she’s at least trying to make attempts at feeding herself rather than lock herself away for a week. Guess where she’s been recently? The Monobear Store. What did she get there? A shit ton of this off-brand Monocky. Yep, she still has the Monobear Coins from all the way back on that slaughterfest of a camping trip. It’s crazy to think that that was months ago now. She’d been here for months, and she’d probably continue to be here. Nothing she could do about it.
So far, everything is safe. As long as she’s not bothered, she can manage to block out the more gruesome spectrum of thoughts that had been following her since she’d revived for her third go at living. No one was approaching her directly, but sometimes interactions weren’t stunted by a single possibility. Chance meetings were meant to happen sometimes.
Along her path through the dorm hall, on her way returning to room 217, this chick has the gall to just happen to be in the same place at the same time.
No, but this is different- this was someone she’d never except to end up trapped in Hell on Earth. She was the one with the ideals of justice that she’d come to despise, but also the one who’d lifted her up when there was nothing left for her. The one she’d betrayed, the one she had been avoiding like an ex you don’t want to have to look in the face when you walk down the sidewalk. Someone she’d thought of as her senpai, as her sister, some time that felt so long ago she questioned if those events ever actually occurred.
They had to have. If they hadn’t, she wouldn’t react this way. Gaping at the newcomer before her, her hand froze, the box slipping away from her grasp and crashing onto the floor, scattering the treats. Fuck. The pocky currently between her fangs snapped under the pressure, and with a raspy and harsh tone, she muttered,
"Mami… Th’ fuck are you doin’ here.”
There has to be a way out, Mami thought. If she got herself into this place, she could get herself out, even if she had forgotten the reason why she is here. Moping around won't help much, so she decided to investigate the school some more. Who knows, there could be a way out of this prison of a school.
She went outside her room, and began to investigate the school. It wasn't against the rules to do so, if she recalled correctly. It seemed to be quite late, since not much students were out at this time. There was no way to tell the time from outside, since all the windows have been fixed with steel plates and bolts. As she was about to check her new monomessenger to check the exact time, she heard someone dropping something. She looked towards the red-head in curiosity, finding that this person was someone very familiar.
"Kyouko?" Mami was surprised to see Kyouko. It's been a very long time since she had last seen her. Mami felt relieved, but felt slightly anxious at the same time. Kyouko is, or at least was, Mami's friend. Sadly, everything changed after that incident.
Mami approached Kyouko, just to make sure it was her. From the huge number of students in the school, she could be mistaken.
