He made an effort of nodding seriously until she laughed, at which point a bright smile broke over his features. "Seriously though, she didn't actually drag you along for that did she?"
"No, no, I'm just here because she thought she wouldn't know anyone else. But she's got quite a few social circles, so I don't know why she thought she'd need me here."
"I see. Well you're doing a pretty good job," he said with a definite note of teasing.
"For her and everyone else in the room. I take my job very seriously," Maddi assured, placing her hand over her chest in mock seriousness before breaking into a bit of laughter.
Aanya poked her in the ribs, "That is not remotely true,"
"It's always true, even if it wasn't your intention," Maddi pointed out with a laugh. The stranger seemed disinterested and had moved off from the pair now. "Is that so bad of me to say?"
“I much prefer the tiny ones. More meat, less leg.”
Maddi's brow furrowed. "Is that some sort of pick up line?"
“I could knock her down a peg if you’d like. Or there is always darts. Seems to me it would be her own damn fault for drawing so much attention to herself.”
Maddi raised a brow at the intensity of the comment but didn't quite allow it to perturb her. "Oh, well, she's my sister so I'll forgive her. Nearly all of the women in our family are much taller than me, so I don't really see it as attention seeking. It was just a joke."
“Tall lil bugger ain’t he?” Pax stated, as he joined her. “Interestingly enough… I do believe he’s on stilts.”
"Well, from my vantage point of the world most people would look like that. You included," Maddi admitted with a laugh.
