At night, the destroyed house becomes more cruel than the bombing itself.

Rain falls through the broken roof,

the children shiver from the cold,

and the mother trembles with fear that one of them may not wake up in the morning.

There are not enough blankets.

No milk.

No medicine.

Not even a door that can be closed to provide a sense of safety.

Only patience that is slowly fading with every cold night.

This family is not asking for the impossible.

They are not asking for comfort or luxury.

They are only asking to survive.

For their children to eat,

to receive treatment when they are sick,

and to sleep without fear or freezing.
