The strange thing about moving forward, is that you expect everyone around you to move with you, but that's not the case. Everyone is moving at their own pace and the people you think will stay around fall away and get left behind. When I first got into portraiture I would wonder why a the people I followed always worked with the same teams. Surely it's best to spread the net wide and work with a variety of people any chance you get, right? I've come to learn that it's so much more than that. Finding likeminded people who understand and respect each other as artists, work well together on set, and remain loyal is arguably the greatest gift this industry has to offer. I consider myself privileged to have worked with so many amazing people, both briefly, and continually, and I no longer feel remorse or regret about those that have to be left behind. Learning what to cut away is a very freeing and rewarding experience. Anyway, that's my half pondered thought for the day. Photo is Ruby Balthasar with hair by @peachystylist
