In spite of my constant appeals to science and rationality, and in addition to the whole "I dunno, man, it felt p. real to me" deal which is the final refuge of all mentally unwell mystics, I'll never use terms like atheist or skeptic to describe myself b/c I've got fed up with seeing them deployed as thought-terminating cliches implying (or just outright saying) that the non-existence of something makes it inherently unworthy of further study. I dunno if it's much of a problem in serious discourse but it happens Way Too Much in popular discussions and I'm crabby. A whole lot of y'all are trying to combat anti-intellectualism backwards by just participating in it like some sort of pedagogical Filthy Frank. I'm someone who likes stories, and I'm interested in the history of stories and the roles they play within society, and also I sell them for money, so of course this is something I think too much about.
Like. If you think nobody should ever bother studying or analyzing or writing about things that aren't real and don't exist, then that presents us with a whole lot of very serious problems because here is an incomplete list of things that (I, the nihilist, must insist) aren't real and don't exist: Money. Governments. Countries. The rule of law. Languages. Mathematics. Gender. Music. Consciousness. And so on.
The thing about being trans is that once you come to terms with it it’s really just whatever but The Cis People insist upon being weird about it
Once you’ve been out of the closet for a while and are surrounded by people who are at the very least neutral and respectful about the trans thing it just becomes a whatever part of your life and all these people claiming that you’re ruining society and passing laws against you kinda feels like a swat team storming into your house while you’re just eating spaghetti.
hey everyone its april fools. but dont worry i dont have anything planned. just going to sit here and...

Tumblr isn't giving us back the boops for ides of march so I will do it myself.
Get your boops everyone!!!
I just put these together real quick feel free to use them.
When it happens, maybe I'll briefly step off the wagon. When it happens I might be in such a celebratory mood that I won't be able to do anything other than go buy a big bottle of absinthe and then dance besottedly through the streets singing "Pull Down the Watchtower" at the top of my lungs in wild chivaree and hugging everyone I see.
But probaly I'll just laugh a little and get back to work.
Maybe if all of us together can wish hard enough, the universe will provide
The real problem with modern personal computing is that it doesn't involve enough mysterious liquids. Sure, there's always been thermal paste, and the steadily increasing popularity of water cooling in gaming rigs is a step in the right direction, but I think we can do better.
Like 10-20 years ago Attack of the Show did a segment about a desktop PC that kept it's components entirely submerged in some kinda mineral based liquid? Does anyone know what came of that thing?
As I recall, it turned out that it doesn't actually work particularly better than traditional closed-circuit water cooling owing to the added energy cost of adequately circulating all that fluid, and also it shortens the life of some components because hot mineral oil gradually dissolves plastic.
The oil also creeps along cables and through connectors, so you get to have the highly unpleasant experience of an oil-saturated keyboard and mouse.
