okay so i’ve been very absent on the dash for the past couple of days (beyond that which we shall not name) and i feel like i should explain myself so i’m not that douche that keeps disappearing (which i feel like i am rip)...

i’ve had extremely bad toothache for the past couple of weeks and for the most part it’s been manageable and for a while it did go away but it came back and no amount of paracetamol, ibuprofen, heat or ice will change that - i’m in constant pain and i’m several days over the medically advised amount of days that you can use on these kind of painkillers so my mood is either constantly sobbing or hulking out

i phoned the dentist this morning and they said i’d have to wait ten days to be seen since i’ve been self managing so far (even though i explained that it no longer works) and my dad had to call them back and demand a manager because i was crying - honestly, at this point i may as well become a waterfall

long story short, i’m in so much pain that my concentration doesn’t stay for long and i can’t stop my body from shaking - either way, i’ll try and get out what i owe but it’ll be a slow process until i get seen by the dentist tomorrow (yay dad) and that’s the story in balamory

i am around on discord or in the ims if anyone would like to plot though, i can give you my username if you haven’t gotten it already - i’d love to get some more stuff going on my small group :)

      joel says nothing more. he didn’t mean to snap at his brother nor does he have any intention of doing so again - he’s just frustrated, full of worry and fearful of what could come next. his family do not need to see that side of him. “--- why would i pay with a piece of fruit?”

      as a man who fought in a mundane war, joel knows all too well how both sides will suffer if they continue down the path they are on. the effects of such actions will test them from years to come and will absolutely destroy everything that has been built thus far. the prospect of a new war taunts the eldest wallace’s thoughts, teasing unresolved issues from his service out from the abyss. if anything, he wants to avoid the conflict, not stir it up further. “i would much prefer we approach this in a more diplomatic matter. bloodshed is not always necessary.”

“i don’t believe you,” quill points out to his older brother with a huff. is he referring to joel’s claim that he never keeps his word or the ( in his opinion ) dubious reassurance that he’ll absolutely be following through on their deal? it’s both, quill decides, as does the unyielding line joining his lips together.

      “forgive me, brother, but i have had more important things on my mind than a silly bet we made quite a while ago. i shall keep my word and you will receive what you feel like you are entitled to, but do not stand there and question me. i do not lie to my family and i will not start now.”

      joel is lost in thought for a moment as he considers his fellow shadowhunter’s words. in all honesty, he finds the lack of information from either side disconcerting and it only makes him more wary of anyone and everyone around him. “i do not think it truly matters even if there was,” he begins. “it appears our fate is sealed regardless. to the rest of the world, we are murderers and i do not think evidence will change that.”

basilio chuckles at his own situation. “i am, unfortunately, too aware of that.” joel’s collection is quite impressive to the italian man’s eyes, and despite owning quite a large one himself, he never stops getting a kick out of seeing that many books. “although i must say - if it weren’t for these exact circumstances, i would never have chosen to make my move over here. still, it’s good to see you, too, joel.” bas gives his long time the more genuine smile he’s given in a while, not like all the smiles from fake pleasantries he gives at the institute.

      “either way, i am glad you are here,” joel nods. outwith his siblings and his wife, joel doesn't necessarily have someone that he can consider to be an actual friend; it's almost a relief that he does now. “i'm sure your sister is equally glad, if not more so,” he nods then drops his eyes to the book he is now flicking through. “have you settled in?”

“i recall our deal quite clearly,” quill argues, arms folding as he huffs resentfully, “don’t tell me you’re one to go back on your word now?” he challenges his brother with a lifted brow.

      “dear brother, i never back down from my word,” joel responds. in all honesty, he's actually forgotten what their deal was -- which never really happens when it comes to joel -- but he doesn’t want to admit so. “just tell me what i owe you and i will make sure it passes into your possession soon enough.”
