I am so incredibly tired it's past the point of being funny. But if I say I'm tired, people say nap and that's how you get the depression to win. Sometimes, besties, you're not tired from lack of sleep. You're tired of existing, and sometimes there's not much you can do about it.
a little sketch of eskel and scorpion that i did the other day when I couldn't sleep
I know inex wrote it first but I do think about a witcher librarian and a witcher steward. Witchers doing roles that they were never intended to do, but finding joy and purpose in it.
Like sure, they learned how to use a sword and the signs and their strength just in case they are needed but otherwise, they are free to just... exist in roles that don't have to kill monsters.
A witcher librarian who has a section in the library of romance novels, and maybe a few witcher inspired ones that aren't typically read by the witchers because it would be like watching a TV show where the main guy has your profession and you know he's doing it wrong so it takes you out of it. But it's a big hit with the non witcher residents.
I think we should talk about Halsin canonically being a renowned healer some more.
Translation: I would like to talk about Halsin canonically being a renowned healer some more.
I think about this often.
Even the game itself seems to kinda forget Halsin's reputation after act 1. But literally any time you ask ANYONE at the Grove for a healer they ALL say "Halsin can fix anything." Halsin is so skilled at medical magic that he can diagnose your tadpole with one spell- compare that to Jaheira who needs to use another tadpole to find yours. This heavily implies he INVENTED said tadpole-detection spell.
And invented the spell working with a single tadpole, at that. And while it isn't directly tied to it, I'd argue that Halsin's abilities in handling the Shadowlands are directly connected to his healing expertise. He studied the realm for decades, crafted protection to traverse it, and had learned it so well that even the slightest hint of Thaniel's location was enough for him to pinpoint it. Which uses the same diligence and observation required to accurately diagnose patients.
And on top of that, he almost instantly figured out that Thaniel had split. Plus, while it isn't directly connected to physical healing, Halsin accurately diagnoses the problems in Baldur's Gate. Plus, he maintains the mindset of a healer in terms of "when you see a problem and you know the solution, solve it", which we see with how he responds by taking in all those children. In numerous ways, we see how Halsin's renown as a healer isn't just from his abilities and knowledge, but his mindset. He approaches all the problems he encounters with the view of an expert healer.
I told him about the dark urge and he said this ↑ to me ;___; he's known me for all of TWO DAYS
So, nobody was gonna tell me Eskel's full name was revealed? Yall were just gonna let me live my life without that knowledge? What's next, Lambert?
Lambert's full name is Lambert Lambert the Prick
You are so right
Im gonna write my one-shot of Eskel getting a white fawn and raising it, calling it "Geralt" and then eventually all the deer in the mountains around Kaer Morhen are white and called "Geralt", except a small doe. Her name is Ciri.
Have you thought about Eskel today?

Happy Pride Month!!
Happy pride to everyone, no matter who you are!
puppy play, forced proximity 👀
Geralt and Lambert fighting once again. Eskel is in a bad mood, maybe he has a headache or it's just one of those days. Eskel putting the pups in their collars and clipping them together with a very short leash. Telling them to behave or else there'll be consequences.
Entirely up to you what "good behavior" looks like 🤭
Okay I’ve been thinking about this all weekend, and I welcome your thoughts too. I had more to say about this than I thought I did >.<
Now, I was having lots of thoughts about how witchers walk the path alone normally, and because of this, they get used to doing things their own way, and no one would tell them otherwise. They’re also very precious about their stuff, their armour, their potions, anything they carry with them. They’re always travelling and everything they carry is special to them in some way – even if its disposable, it’s theirs.
So that got me thinking about their mindset when they get to Kaer Morhen. How long it takes Eskel to get both of these big wolves to sit nice at his feet, relaxed and taking little scritches like good puppies.
And that got me thinking about Geralt and Lambert having issues with “resource guarding” and how having a full year of having their own things and being on their own schedules means that when they’re back, for the first few weeks they do not want to share. Toys, blankets, Eskel.
But Eskel needs them to share, because part of being a close pack, and part of having two well behaved puppies, is knowing that they can share their things, and knowing that they both belong to Eskel. So, when they start growling at each other over who’s allowed to lie on the blanket that’s absolutely big enough for both of them, or when they get bitey over who had their head on Eskel’s lap first, Eskel knows that it’s time for consequences for their behaviour.
Eskel will let them get all of their grumbly behaviour out of their system for the first few weeks, because he knows it’s hard for them to re-adjust. But once he knows their ready, and once he simply can’t take any more of their head butting, part of being a good owner is setting proper rules for his puppies to follow so that they know exactly who’s boss.
Just the visual of the very short leash to both of them is usually enough to give of signals in their brain that this is the last night this behaviour will be tolerated. Seeing it in Eskel’s large hands, and with one click of his fingers both of them kneel in front of him with no pushback.
Knowing that this will be the last time they can act out obviously makes both of them want to put up a fuss, growling at each other like they might bite through the leash itself to run away. But just the feeling of both of them being that close, the weight of the collars with the obvious tug at their necks every time one of them moves is enough to make them both yield.
Eskel just sitting in his armchair, reading by the fire, “ignoring” his poorly behaved puppies when they pull away from each other. “I know I didn’t train you two to act like that. Don’t know where it’s come from, but it wasn’t me.” It’s a well-practiced disappointed tone that puts them in their place without even having to lift his eyes. After weeks of guarded behaviour, it only takes minutes before both of them are pressed against each other on the floor.
Once they’re actually willing to let each other in, Eskel always lets them do what they want. It takes a lot for them to let that guard down, so if they want to scent each other, groom each other, take each other, Eskel simply makes sure they’re both warm, comfy and very well praised.
Eventually, Eskel will unclip them, but not before letting them know knows boss.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive

30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)

Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
