And also just general confusion, and an attempt to access the dark regions of the mind and commune with the shadow-image of God.

FUMAĂA PRETA // Fumaça Preta
I thought no music video could capture the absolute psych-party-punk chaos that is this band.
Turns out they proved me wrong.
Track of the day
THE WHARVES // Thick Syrup
This all-girl band was one of the outliers in the otherwise 10-minute-songs psych-fest that was Raw Power 2015, and theyâre pretty much exactly the kind of music I like.
Oh yeah expect a lot of âI heard this band at Raw Power 2015âł coming up, Iâm just back from it.

BASSEKOU KOUYATE & NGONI BA // Siran Fen
âBasically, I have two kinds of people listening to my music: African people, who understand what I'm telling them, and that for some part listen to my music for that purpose, and the other people, who listen to my music for its vibes, and the feeling it gives them, even if they don't understand the words. So I wanted to maintain some tradition to keep on pleasing my African audience, but I also wanted more salt and pepper, or a more contemporary sound, to please my other audience, people from Europe, Asia, America, everywhere they don't understand the words, but get the feeling of my music. That is the balance I was and am still looking for.â

DJANGO DJANGO // Reflections
Just in time for festival/barbecue/garden dance party season, django django have released a new album. And with it a decidedly odd music video that looks like a conceptual art exhibition as modelled in 90s-era 3D graphics through the lens of glitch art.
Seriously can we get over this fad of making things ironically ugly.
Track of the day
TALL BLACK CABINS // The Leisure Society
Alone Aboard The Ark, the bandâs previous offering, rates as one of my most beloved albums of 2013. I havenât had time to listen to The Fine Art Of Hanging On in its entirety yet but this flagship single about fishermen and/or a morose resignation to decline has all the attributes I loved two years ago.
Track of the Day
HELIUM VOLA // Manifesto
A german band does techno-opera. The lyrics are an Italian Communist Manifesto.
You know, the usual.
Track of the Day:
VANDEROCKER // Kissing Booth
I usually try to post music videos when songs have them. I like music videos. Call it nostalgia from the time before music blogging when most of my exposure to new artists came from trippy shit on late-night MTV.
But just as we are all familiar with the music video that makes a mediocre song great, we all know the music video that makes a great song just embarrassing.
Kissing Booth has that kind of music video. It would be a disservice to the song to post it.
(Itâs a good song!)
EMILIANA TORRINI // Sound of Silence
Itâs a cover of Simon & Garfunkel by an Icelandic singer-songwriter.
Just put it down as a hipster guilty pleasure.
LOTIC // Heterocetera
Do you want to feel like youâre being hunted through the night by twisted, unnatural horrors?
Yes?
1. Thatâs weird, dude.
2. Youâre in luck. Hit Play.
THEE CEE CEES // Solution Songs
Described by their label as âMarxist party-punksâ, their debut album (free now on soundcloud, releasing April 16th) lives up to the tagline.
We need none of your protest songs. We will sing solution songs! Sing along!
The above chorus sets up TheeCeeCeesâ attitude: this is music about how society needs to change, but which refuses to indulge in nihilistic cynicism about it. Reminiscent of Spanish ska-punk bands, itâs a revolution you can dance to.
