Walking on Water

Christo’s ‘Floating Piers’ installation finally opens to the public June 18th. The highly-anticipated reveal sees 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric wrap a floating dock that connects various points on Italy’s Lake Iseo. Undulating with the movement of the waves, visitors can now experience the ‘Floating Piers’ as they walk from Sulzano to Monte Isola and to the island of San Paolo, which it completely encircles. The 3 kilometer-long walkway extends clear across the water, with surrounding mountains offering a bird’s-eye view of a golden network of passageways that lead in and around the town. The fabric continues along 1.5 kilometers of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio.

Floating in Nature

The Sansheng Exhibition Center by INUCE is located in the South bank of Fuzhou‘s river Min, with a unique view over the water up to the city‘s new CBD skyline. The design combines characteristic elements of the Chinese courtyard house with aesthetic and dynamic qualities of Min River‘s waters: Built literally atop a large water surface, the building seems to be orbiting on two levels around a central water fountain, constituting a double storeyed courtyard. The visitor enters the building using a processional path over the water, and follows a predetermined track around the courtyard in a single concentrical movement. He thus passes by all areas until he reaches the endpoint of this journey at the roof top viewing terrace.

@BenScheidt: 3 US companies rule 70% of the worldwide banana trade. On average, they only pay 14% taxes, because of tax heavens. So only 13% of the final price of a banana flow back to the country of production. Almost half of the price will remain in tax havens. 6 billion US-Dollar of private assets are hold in tax havens. The super rich kids don't pay their taxes and the average citizen has to hustle for his bread and butter. #sadbuttrue
