Sitting awake at nearly midnight because my hip hurts so bad I literally cannot sleep. I haven't been in pain like this in ages. Like not since I ran away to sea I think.

#I don't have the slightest idea what's causing it either. I tried a nice leisurely walk and some gentle stretching and it didn't help at all #It's just getting worse #I have to be back at work on Monday so I really hope it's better by then

My toxic fandom take is that I think that it's awful how much we can talk to creators and get answers from them word of god style. We should be out here in a godless place rooting for scraps of lore in the media like truffle pigs out in the fields

Currently watching: like so many different shows. Such a wide variety too. Mostly The Night Shift, The Day of the Jackal, and Shadowhunters.

Currently reading: nothing currently, but I keep meaning to go to the bookstore and pick up a copy of The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow. It came highly recommended to me.

Current game: I don't really play video games but I have been playing one round of solitaire almost every day.

Current obsession: can't say I'm really obsessed with much at the moment. Although the cute gay couple in Shadowhunters might change that soon.

Currently working on: writing an original story. It's fantasy with a little side of queer romance but the romance is all side plot atm.

Coffee or tea: Tea!

Last thing I ate: apple crisp. I need to eat some real dinner soon.

Last place I went: a little walking trip around town with a good friend of mine who I haven't seen in a long time.

Last internet search: the weather for my area.(It's stormy with a tornado watch until later tonight.)

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

It's my cat's birthday (anniversary of me getting him) so I told him the story of his life while petting him real good

Highlights include:

For your first two years (when you were small) you lived in a foster home with people who raised you into a very polite young man. Two is like you plus me, that's what two is.

Some people adopted you before me and they called you Timmy (which is a stupid name) and they returned your ass almost immediately because you were so annoying at that age.

Like think about how annoying you are right now at seven years old, but way worse.

I'm better than them though, I don't call you Timmy and I wore earplugs to bed for three years because you love to scream at bedtime. Earplugs are like when I roll over and go back to sleep even when you are yelling so so so loud.

I got you at a time in my life when I was really sick (being sick is like when I'm up late because I'm throwing up and you are a very handsome good boy who sits with me) and they had to put me asleep for a procedure. A procedure is like what happened to you when they put you asleep and took your balls away.

Now you've lived with me for five years. Five is like the number of toe beans on one of your feet. When I clip your nails five is when we're halfway done. But we're hopefully not even halfway done with how long we get to be together. I'm gonna have to figure out new ways to help you count.

asked one of my coworkers how she's doing today and she goes "could be better, could be worse," and another coworker nearby who was eavesdropping chimes in with "could be a lil bit o' alligator curse!" i have no idea what he meant by that but i do know that it has been immediately added to the lexicon.

what they dont tell you about adulthood is that it’s startlingly easy to go long periods of time without having any fun at all not even a little bit. btw this causes ur brain to try to kill you with knives and hammers.
