Ups and Downs (part3)
Prompt: Max has to go back home with a reluctant El following her
Warning: Billy being a dick, abuse
————————-
Following the events of last night, El was reluctant to let Max go back to her house, but realized she can’t stop her from going back. Max knew the longer she was away from home, the more pissed off Billy would get. El knew this too, deciding she was going to walk Max home and sneak into her bedroom from the window to make sure she can protect her if Billy or Neil snapped.
On the walk there, El could see Max visibly shaking and was doing her best to comfort her,
“I’ll be right there with you, nothings going to happen” El says in hopes to calm down Max. Max just nods her head but it doesn’t help her anxiety.

A few minutes later, they arrived at Max’s house, El gave Max a quick kiss on the cheek and went around back to sneak into Max’s bedroom.
Max walks up to the front porch, she takes in a shaky breath and opens the door. The first thing she notices is that nothing has been picked up from last night. The house is a wreck, empty beer cans all over, a hole in the wall from where Billy threw her skateboard, broken glass from when Billy shoved her down. It was all there, bringing back the painful memories.
She steps into the house carefully, not wanting to step on any glass and heads to her room, when she gets there she notices El is already waiting on her bed.
“Is Billy here?” El asks
“Yeah But I don’t think he heard me come in” Max says with a sigh of relief. Just then she heard a loud bang on her door.
“Maaaaxxxx is that you?”
El and Max turn towards the door upon hearing Billy’s voice, they see the door knob jiggle,
“Open the door Maxine” Billy shouts and pounds on the door louder than before,
“Go away Billy” Max says, hoping deep down it’ll work but she realizes she’s wrong when she hears Billy chuckle.
“You know what happens when you disobey me. I break things” Billy says before he starts kicking at the door. El stands up from the bed and grabs Max’s hand. Having a silent conversation with their eyes, Max shouts back at Billy.
“Fine, chill, I’m coming” She says, surprised her voice didn’t sound fearful.
Max walks to the door and the banging stops, she opens the door, careful not to reveal too much of her room, not wanting Billy to see El inside.
“What Billy” Max says trying to act tough even though on the inside she’s scared to death.
“You disobeyed me” is all Billy says as he walks into the living room, Max in tow.
“I opened the door like you asked” Max says trying to reason with him,
“You didn’t listen right away” Billy said as he put out his cigarette, Max didn’t respond, just stood there in fear.
“You should know to listen to me the first time I ask” He continues as he turns towards Max, Max’s fake tough face in full display. Billy starts making his way to Max,
“Billy stop” is all Max has time to say before Billy is picking her up by the collar of her jacket and shoved her against the wall.
“Maybe you’ll start listening if I knock some sense into you” Billy says in a threatening low voice. Alcohol evident on his breath. Max can feel herself shaking, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Please let me go” She whispers, barely audible. Billy pulls her froward then slams her back into the wall. Max screams out in pain, still hurting from the previous night.
“You need to be punished” Billy shouts. By this point Max is trying to fight back. She’s smacking Billy and trying to kick him but it’s no use, he’s much bigger and stronger than her. Billy knows this and laughs at Max’s poor attempts.
“Actually trying to fight back? Big mistake” Billy says coldly and throws Max to the ground. Max cries out in pain as she lands on her sprained wrist.
“You would think you would know to not disobey me, Max” Billy shouts, voice rising in volume with each word, Billy steps closer to Max and shakes his head,
“Pathetic” is all he says before he reaches down to Max and lifts her back to the wall,
“You’re pathetic Max” Billy seethes as he shoved her into the wall with more force than before.
—————
El was nervously shaking her leg in Max’s room, listening to the sounds of Billy yelling and thuds of something hitting the wall. Fearful it was Maxs body, El started to shake in anger and anxiousness. Remembering what Max told her on the way over,
Don’t get involved with my brother or Neil
She shakes her head at the memory and closes her eyes trying to concentrate on something else besides the yelling.
She snapped once she heard Billy shout that Max needs to be punished. She stands up and opens the door and speed walks into the living room.
“You’re pathetic Max” she hears Billy say and she enters the living room, and what she sees makes her breath catch in her throat, Billy has Max pinned up against the wall.
Eleven doesn’t know what to do, so without thinking she screams at Billy
“Get off her!” And the next thing to happen is Billy is flying across the room and is slammed into the wall, rendering him unconscious.
Max slides down the wall and pulls her knees up to her chest and rocks back and forth. El walks over to her and envelopes her into a hug,
“I’ve got you” she coos, and starts rubbing circles on Max’s arm,
“You’re alright, nothing bad will happen to you” she continues while holding Max tight. Max is shaking in El’s arm and is holding onto her as if her life depended on it. As if she would let go, she would completely fall apart.
————-
A few moments pass before Billy comes back to his senses, when he opens his eyes, he sees some girl with curly hair comforting Max.
He sits up and holds his head, confused as to how he ended up on the ground opposite from where they are.
“What the hell” he mutters and both girls snap their heads towards him.
El stands up and places herself in front of Max, hands at her side, balled into fists.
“Aww how sweet, your little friend thinks she can protect you” Billy chuckles as he shakily stands up, not having fully control of his balance, still recovering from being thrown against the wall.
“Billy go away” Max says so quiet that it is barely heard.
“Billy go away” Billy mocks back in a high pitched voice, and steps closer to the girls.
Max stands up a grabs onto Elevens arm, still standing behind her. Before anyone can process what’s happening, El is pulling Max with her as they sprint to Max’s room. Billy not that far behind. El shoves Max inside and closes the door and locks it with her mind.
“El! El! Open the door! El!” Max cries from inside and is jiggling the door knob.
Billy looks between the door and the girl with curly hair, he looks down at the girl in disgust,
“You think you can beat me?” He fake laughs, he grabs El and tosses her down the hall towards the living room. El lands on a piece of broken glass and cries out in pain as it cuts her.
“Come on, get up and fight” Billy taunts, El takes in a deep breath and stands up. Concentrating on keeping the door of Max’s room locked. She runs to the kitchen, trying to come up with an idea on how to beat Billy without killing him with her mind.
Billy grabs El’s arm and turns her around, picks her up and slams her against the counter,
“El please El, let me out” Max shouts and Billy turns towards the sound of Max’s voice then back to Eleven.
“I don’t know what you did but you shouldn’t have come here” Billy says and pulls his fist back.
As his fist was about the come in contact with El’s face, it abruptly stops. Billy is confused. He can’t move his hand, he can’t move his whole body. When he looks back to the girl, he notices her nose is bleeding and doesn’t know why.
El, running out of energy from throwing Billy through the air, keeping Max locked in her room and freezing Billy’s movements, takes this as her chance to shove Billy back. She grabs a plate on the counter and smashes it over Billy’s head.
Billy falls back, weak from being slammed into the wall and now hit in the head with a plate. He loses consciousness.
El falls to her knees, taking in deep breathes and releases the lock on Max’s door. She hears Max running down the hall, trying to find her girlfriend.
“El” is all Max says as she gives her a hug,
“Why did you lock me in my room, I could’ve helped, I could’ve -“ Max rambles but is cut off by El,
“I wasn’t gonna let you get hurt again”
Max just shakes her head in disbelief,
“I can’t lose you” El continues,
“You’re amazing El, you saved me again” Max says with a smile, and El returns it. Both girls just holding each other on the kitchen floor surrounded by broke glass and an unconscious Billy.
