Here's the ink work for this piece. I've been trying to ink traditionally more lately - I need to have that hybrid workflow again! I got a Kuretake No.13 brushpen recently & I'm really loving it!

Archiving my artistic influences thread from twitter, continued. I liked this exercise, for all the usual narcissistic reasons, but also bc by juxtaposing all these artists that have affected me, I see where they connect to each other as well as myself. - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 -

The pixel artwork of the original Final Fantasy game has fascinated me since I first played the game as a child, including the dynamic monsters that seemed to leap from the screen. Only much later would I discover that these monsters were drawn by Kazuko Shibuya, with many of the concepts created by the renowned illustrator Yoshitaka Amano (other concepts came from Square staff, including Shibuya herself). The unique style of both these great artists have become synonymous with the series over the years. Interviews: Yoshitaka Amano (1987), Kazuko Shibuya (2013) Video: Yoshitaka Amano, Kazuko Shibuya - from paper to pixel Artwork Sources: Concept Art, Pixel Art
