the actual point of the punch in the beautiful room in lucifer rising is to show that cas is so much stronger than dean that dean can’t possibly touch him by force. so that when dean grabs him by the shoulder moments later and spins him around, we know that it’s because he lets dean move him. it’s a visual metaphor for the way that dean’s convincing cas to do what’s right, that cas is listening to him.
