Throughout my years trying to figure out sexuality as a topic, I noticed a pattern where this extreme would happen:

A man is friends with another man (they are not relatives)

The man expresses love and concern w/ this other man.

So, this must be gay when it is in fact not.

The problem most likely occurs within entertainment, where a fandom pushes these the characters to be “gay representation” instead of “redefining manhood”.

It bugs me that I want to talk about things with fandoms, but can’t because it feels like I can’t talk about redefining manhood without talking about non-canonical shipping.

I mean, if they admit feelings for each other, but we can CLEARLY see it isn’t sexual, why put these imaginary setups up instead of talking about “yeah, that’s what we would like to see more of” so we can see more authentic male bonding moments that don’t involve doing the most just to say “hey, I love you, but pause, no homo!”
