Cinematic Parallels: Luca and Tangled

Their official meeting comes with a funny scene of one trying to impress the other and the other being confused.

Luca and Rapunzel both have unhealthy relationships with their mothers. They are both very sheltered and afraid of the world.

Alberto and Flynn display false bravado, both having to adapt from being alone for so long.

Rapunzel and Luca both have breakdowns over disobeying their mothers.

A moment of vulnerability (in front of a campfire) that brings a confession out of Flynn and Alberto.

They both have a shared dream or at least have the desire to help the other achieve their dream even if it means sacrificing their own.

Alberto and Flynn put themselves in harms way to protect the person that means the most to them.

Luca & Rapunzel are willing give up their freedom to save the other.

At the end of the film Alberto and Flynn find that their dream was really about the person that hold dear the whole time. And they’re happy to take the action needed to protect that dream.

They’re both given the mom smile of approval at the end.
