General Orders, No. 3.
The people are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property, between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them, becomes that between employer and hired labor. The Freedmen are advised to remain at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts; and they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.
Wanted to share this thread I saw on Twitter on here. It’s devastating how we weren’t taught this in our American History classes.

my full “rejoicing in our hair” collection!! these were the final pieces for a project for college! ✨💜
“Originally this was a college project. We were to choose a current or past event / article and create a narrative piece from it. I chose the "Natural Hair Ban of Pretoria High” that unfolded back in 2016. I created a set of 6 paintings that depict black cultural and natural hairstyles worn by black people all over the world. The black women here are seen rejoicing in their hair, through expressions of pride, joy and love. Its a direct juxtaposed response to the ban on hair and made to encourage black people all over the world who are discriminated against because of their hair"
theres only one public speedpaint! The rest are all available on my patreon. Please consider supporting me if you enjoy my work 💖
✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽Happy black history month✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

I want to help update this list.
Give me a holler about more Black-character-led (preferably created by Black/African-American/African diaspora creators)
My Aesthetic is-
My Aesthetic is African American artists liking or reblogging this post for a bit of a promo month.
My Aesthetic is coming alive mostly during Black History Month and then disappearing pretty much the rest of the year.
My Aesthetic is not having 20/20 vision in the year of 2020, what a rip off.
My Aesthetic is that gem Spinel; you go you funky little gem, go live your best life.
My Aesthetic is Mina Ashido watching you try to break into her aunt and uncle's house just because you think you're entitled to "alien cheeks".
My Aesthetic is people sleeping on 3Below during this Area 51 raid, at least from my personal perspective haha.
@sleepyt-shirt replied to your post “My aesthetic is Kyoko out here with that good sweet dumba**...”
