Tommy & Blair
It seemed as though Blair was speaking from experience about tagging along the roads with strangers and suddenly Tommy became aware that he may have underastimated the woman in front of him, maybe she was tougher than he had first assumed. The gangster simply nodded his head in acknowledgment to her thanks. “The train can be a bit pricy though.” Of course money had never been a problem for him but Blair didn’t even have spare clothes with her so it was a safe bet to make that she was short on cash. “And boats are utterly dreadful…I hope to never be on one again.” All his memories surrounding ocean travel dealt with war and not one was pleasant.
His gaze returned to her as she spoke about America, Tommy’s features softening as she smiled. He came to the conclusion that he enjoyed the sound of Blair’s laugh, which was an unusual thought for him. “Couldn’t be worse off than Birmingham though.” he responded with a small chuckle, wincing as he did. “With all the new coppers in town I wouldn’t be surprised if they outlawed liquor here next.” he added with a sigh, a new look of annoyance passing over his features. The whole town was being turned upside-down and it was only a matter of time before the law caught up with him.
Money, right, something she didn't have. She'd surely figure something out, though, she had to, there was no other option. She began chewing on her nail again, her eyes shifting around the room. "I've been on a boar before," she had remembered once when she was a child. "I was only a child, six or seven, but I got so sick," she smiled and shook her head at the memory, "it was awful." If it was so awful then why are you smiling, Blair?
She bit on her lip momentarily, her mind still with her younger thoughts, the better days. Her head cocked to the side, "yeah, but still, Birmingham hasn't outlawed alcohol," a small laugh, yet again, escaped her lips. "Or at least not yet." She had heard about Birmingham and it's crime rates, but she didn't think that anything would go as far as he outlaw of booze. And even if it did, Blair knew that the citizens wouldn't give up that easily. Though, she didn't know what they were willing to do in order to keep booze around, she knew that she didn't want to stay around in order to find out, and probably get harmed somehow.
