Forte|Sif: Penpals (part2)
sifwarmaiden:
The days had turned to nights on Asgard, Sif having left shortly after she returned to train more and spend time with King in the days before the babes were to arrive. When she finally came back home to the chateaux, she was exhausted, to say the least. As soon as she entered her suite, she dropped her bags and headed for the shower, the warm water feeling better than any pain reliever against her muscles and the cleanliness easing her down to her very soul.
Once she was bathed and comfortable, she made her way back to the bed and began to towel-dry long dark tresses. Her mind drifted absently to the past few weeks, to her time in the prisons of Asgard to her time recently with King. A smile spread across her face as she reached to her nightstand for her journal, happy to see a reply from Forte after so long.
Discarding the towel, the goddess lay on her bed, feet in the air and began to read his reply. A feeling of guilt swept over her at his apologies and, at his mention of having visited her, she turned to the door as if he would knock yet again.
When she finished the entry, her heart sank. He was worried for her, for her well-being. But she and Whisper had gotten along fairly well that day, should she be on guard now instead of this ease she felt? She scrambled through the drawer beside the bed for her favorite pen of emerald ink and began to write a reply.
Forte,
I am utterly upset with myself that you came by my quarters and I wasn’t here to greet you. I would have loved to see you once more, to speak with you in person again, but alas.. there is always next time.
You owe me no such apologies as I assumed you needed your own space. I was safe and on Midgard once more, so you needn’t worry about staying by my side thereafter. I appreciate the sentiment, truly, you are too kind.
Should I be on guard around your brother then? I rather thought he and I had smoothed our qualms that day, but I have been wrong before.
Sif’s hand stilled on her page, the pen causing a small dark dot where it rested. She cursed to herself as she lifted it well off the paper and looked at the door. An image flashed through her mind of eyes cold as ice and a brilliantly white as such too. She had to close her eyes and shake her head to get it to go away, but the feeling it gave her lingered still. Taking a deep breath, she resumed her writing.
Not to worry, friend, I will keep my distance for now. I have no need to approach him anytime in the near future, and if I do I shall be sure to write you and inform you first, if that would make you feel more comfortable?
I feel it is my own doing if something does happen to me, however. I intervened where it was not my place to do so and for that, again, I am sorry.
Please, let me know next time you come by? I will make certain my schedule is clear so we can share a game of chess or something.

She replaced the cap on the pen and closed the journal slowly, as if still mulling over the words she wrote. She was beside herself that she missed him and laid back against the pillows with a huff. Oh well. Next time indeed.
Two days went by and the spirit had returned to Manhattan, especially for the job interviews he still had to conduct. By which one of them had been most interesting. After he had gotten Sigyn settled in, he heard the scratchings of her pen and summoned his copy of her journal into his sight, opened on the pages where they last wrote.
Seeing her try to assuage his concerns regarding her interaction with his once brother, Forte did indeed ease though he noticed the dark dot. Perhaps his words were too hasty and he had only returned her much soothed anxiety from before. Turning the page, he quickly penned her a reply.
Dearest Sif,
It is most pleasing to hear from you. I am sorry not to be there for when you have returned. But as you have written, there will be another time.
Although I hold nothing over you and would not presume such at all, if you could, I have to admit it would be more assuring if you do when you cross paths with him. At least, in case of anything untoward and unpleasant that had happened between us again, I could forewarn you.
I wish I did not have to tell you this but yes, you should be on guard.
As much as he had sworn to make things up to me, in my experience, he is... unfathomable. That is a large reason why I... fear am wary of him still. I would not consider him lightly, even in his best of moods.
Forte paused as he scribbled out the offensive word. It had came naturally to him but he would never admit it to himself that he feared the man. He had already faced him and there were far worse things in the universes than Thor; like Thanatos. He had endured his sufferings and though he died, he 'survived' and came out for the better. There was no way he would still fear the man. But he could.
Oh dear friend, apologise no more on that regard. I find comfort in knowing you have done it for my sake, it's been more than anyone have done for me since a long time ago and I have you to thank.
Most of all, I am just glad you are well.
I am thinking about visiting next week, since I surprisingly have some things to take care of before I travel. Perhaps Wednesday?
P.S. I have asked prior but how did your visit with Freya go?
Finishing his letter, he allowed the book and pen to dissipate, trying to decide what to do with Sigyn while he travelled to the Chateau. It would be good to introduce her to the members, seeing as how she needed the company and aid but it would severely tire him out - too much so that he would certainly not be good company for his friend. And how he dearly wanted to be alone with Sif just for her presence, without a third party.
He would have to think of an alternative for her then. Keeping her cooped up inside the hotel was no solution after all.
