No matter what happened in Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s relationship, here are several very public facts:
Johnny Depp dated Winona Ryder when she was 17 and he was 26.
Johnny Depp assaulted a crew member while filming City of Lies in 2018. The victim was attempting to wrap filming for the night, and Depp screamed "You have no right to tell me what to do!“ and punched him twice in the ribs. Depp then realized his over-reaction and offered the victim $100,0000 to “punch him in the face in return,” but the victim refused. The victim was then fired for refusing to sign a declaration stating that he would not sue the production company. This was all proven (the victim won the settlement) and had many witnesses.
Johnny Depp defended and worked with Roman Polanski. Depp said: “Roman is not a predator. He’s 75 or 76 years old. He has got two beautiful kids, he has got a wife that he has been with for a long, long time. He is not out on the street.” In 1977, director Roman Polanski took nude photographs of a 13-year-old girl, before drugging and raping her. He was found guilty of pedophilia and child rape, but fled the country before he could be sent to prison. He has been a fugitive of the law ever since, living only in countries that won’t extradite to the US, but he continues to have a successful film career today thanks to actors like Depp who work with and defend him.
Johnny Depp is friends with Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of rape and abuse by sixteen women, including victims who were teenagers at the time. Depp called Manson his “good friend” just last week, during the trial. Read this for more info on Manson raping, torturing, abusing, and threatening to murder his victims (including acts he literally filmed and/or bragged about himself).
In a 2009 article, Manson said about Evan Rachel Wood: “I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.” In 2013, Depp said in texts to Paul Bettany about Amber Heard: “Let’s burn Amber. […] Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will fuck her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she is dead.”
Depp is currently suing Amber for defamation, for accusing him of domestic violence. His “good friend” Manson is also now suing Evan Rachel Wood for defamation as well, and even using the same legal team.
The “Let’s burn Amber” texts were included in all of the various Depp/Heard trials as just one example of Depp being abusive, violent, and threatening toward Heard. As a reminder, Heard has won both cases so far, including the libel case in England, where libel laws are much stricter (i.e. Depp would’ve won if there was even a sliver of a doubt about him being a “wife-beater,” what he sued Amber for calling him.)
Many are now using the fact Depp and Heard’s marriage counselor said Heard “gave as good as she got” as proof that Heard abused Depp. This same therapist also said she saw bruises on Heard’s face, that Heard “fought back after Depp became physical,” and that there was “mutual abuse,” i.e. this therapist believes it was a toxic relationship.
Many have also attempted to say that Amber Heard was abusive in a past relationship, with former girlfriend Tasya van Ree — despite the fact van Ree has repeatedly defended Amber and said that there was no abuse or domestic violence at any point.
Nobody besides Amber Heard and Johnny Depp themselves will ever know what actually happened in their relationship — but Depp is a pedophile who dated a 17 year old, he committed assault at least once (completely separate from his relationship with Amber), he’s “good friends” with rapists and abusers and is willing to publicly defend them, and he said he wanted to murder, burn, and rape the corpse of his girlfriend back when they were still together.
