I often hear people say, "in order to find yourself you have to be single" and I've always been indifferent about that statement. Interactions with people whether it be in romantic relationships or friendships promotes growth.
Every negative or positive experience allows us to figure out our likes and our dislikes, which in the end helps to mold us into who we are. It allows us to know what we will tolerate and what is something we wouldn't dare compromise. It allows us to try new things and new experiences. It inspires exploration of self.
On the flip side taking a step back from those interactions can be beneficial as well. People have the ability to lose themselves inside their friendships and romantic relationships. It's very easy to become consumed in the people around us and this is where a healthy balance comes into play.
