So here's the entire pie I made in class today. Pretty proud of myself, honestly. It tastes so good! =D Learned a lot today, learned more about flavors than I thought I would. I like the fact that my own creativity made this pie taste a bit better.
I love this I love this I love this. I can't wait till I can make people happy by enjoying my pies and cupcakes and pastries. Get ready, my bakery is more real than ever.

Update.
So now that I'm having a break from school... I'm relaxing. Because last week I had a whole week of internship at a bakery.
It was so, SO exhausting. But I loved every single minute of it. No regrets ever. Honestly, that week felt like the moment of truth for me, because I was gonna experience bakery life as it really is, not as the dreamy thing I envision it to be. And I now know that I can and will do this. I loved it. Let's do this for the rest of my life.
Yesterday I was in Rotterdam and stumbled upon the most perfect bakery ever. It was super cute and looked so much like the bakery I envision in my head. Not in design, but in the way it was built and shaped. So I taped it, because it inspired me to the brim. I'm planning on sketching some bakery costumes today, but I'm not sure what I want them to look like. So there's a possibility I'm just gonna end up scribbling bakery characters again while I look at that tape a thousand times. It's about 10 seconds long, but hey, who cares? ^^
I wanna say a lot of personal things on here because it sometimes feels good to not have a lot of followers. I wanna say things that people who follow my main blog can't read. But I guess I'm not going to. My mind is racing and I just want it to shut up so I can listen to my heart.

Walt Disney.
I think everyone obviously know I'm very inspired by miss Charlavail Effron when it comes to working towards opening my own bakery. Next to her, few may know I'm inspired by a Dutch TV-cook and baker/patissier, Rudolph van Veen. He's the one that eventually got me into baking and made me realize this is what I want to do. But I don't know if I ever talked about - or even realized - how much of an inspiration and idol Walt Disney is.
Walt Disney is my biggest idol when it comes to creating and believing in your dreams. I bet if he'd told anyone he wanted to make childhood movies and build Disneyland when he was a kid, they would've laughed at him and would've told him to have realistic dreams. But if anyone would've told him he would make movies that would light up everyone's world and that he would eventually have his own land of dreams, I bet he would've said something like "I totally believe that". He did it. Out of nothing, he made... Fantasy. He made fantasy reality. He's my biggest inspiration, next to Charlavail and Rudolph, to make my bakery happen. I wanna make fantasy reality too. I want people to feel like they're stepping into a completely different world when they'll step into my bakery. That feeling when you walk through the gates and see the castle, you know that feeling? For me it's a feeling that says "I'm home. I can be myself here. I can be a kid." That's exactly how I want people to feel when they visit my bakery.
I ordered the book "Poster Art of the Disney Parks" a long time ago and it finally arrived a few days ago, and it's super inspiring. It's filled with magical paintings and posters that I so vividly remember seeing in Disneyland Paris. My friends think that I keep begging them to go to Disneyland with me because I'm a spoiled brat and I just miss it because I can't stand not going this one year. I'm not saying that's not true, but one huge reason that I wanna visit Disneyland is because it inspires me so much. I wanna gain more inspiration for my bakery. I've been stuck for a while now and I just don't wanna become lazy and not do enough. I've set my personal opening date, and I wanna work as hard as I can to make it happen. So a trip to Disneyland - or multiple trips, obviously - would help me so so much.
I guess I just wanna thank Walt Disney for creating what he has created. If I could meet him, I'd have so many questions for him. I feel ashamed for not knowing enough about him so I think I'm gonna order something like a book about him soon. But you don't have to know someone well to know that what they've accomplished inspires you to accomplish your dreams. His dreams were too big for this world, and he's made it. My dreams are too big for a young kid that doesn't know what she's getting herself into, but I know why I wanna do this and I believe full-heartedly that I CAN do this. And so I will.
So nevermind me as I beg my friends some more to come to Disney with me and I go read Poster Art of the Disney Parks while I do so.
My favorite land in Disneyland? Fantasyland. Because as Walt put it: "Fantasyland is dedicated to the young-in-heart, to those who believe that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true". And that is exactly who I am.

I'm utterly exhausted.
School is breaking me slowly.
I flourish when I'm in the bakery. I know I love something when I'm SO concentrated on it that I can forget the rest of the world. When I'm in the bakery, even though we only bake cookies, that happens.
I love that baking cookies has taught me more than I hoped it would. I know you can play with dough. You can have a certain dough and it will always be that dough, but when you change just a few ingredients it's suddenly different. I'm learning that I love to knead the dough with my bare hands, because that's when I can FEEL it become what it's meant to be. That's when I feel in control, because I can feel when it's good or not. A machine is just a machine, it's not able to give a little extra ingredient called love.
We're only baking cookies, but I'm already so so happy and so so sure that this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I can't wait to see what can happen in three years, let alone one. As I told my mentor: "I wanna be the best".
But I am exhausted. Every single day I have school till about 4:30, even till 5, and I'm home around 6:30. But I don't regret choosing this school over the one closer to home. I LOVE my class. Everyone is so super nice. I feel like I can talk to almost every single one of them, even though I'm kind of close to only two of them. Our class is just awesome and open to each other, and everyone is super motivated. I love being surrounded by motivated people.
But for now I'm glad it's weekend. Monday we're gonna bake more. I shouldn't forget to bring the recipe. Remind me?

Here's to finding courage in everything I'll do.
I have a lot, LOT to learn.
First of all, we baked cookies the other day and I just really have to get used to everything. Baking doesn't come as easy as breathing yet, and I really wish I could snap my fingers and be a professional. But I'm gonna keep pushing myself, gonna work hard and sooner than later it will be as easy as breathing. I really can't wait.
Today, we had normal classes. In one of our free hours, one of my newly made friends started drawing and gave me a paper too. I started doodling but I felt like everyone was watching me so I totally screwed up. Then I started over and came up with this super cute new bakery character, but then I looked to my left and saw my new red-haired friend draw like a real artist. I looked back at my paper and saw a stupid little cartoon.
I thought school was going to encourage me, and I'm not yet gonna say it doesn't because it's only the first week, but so far I feel further away from my bakery instead of closer. I know that will change soon, I know this is the right road towards my bakery, but for now I just feel a bit sad. Because I'm not an artist yet, I'm not a baker yet, I can't draw and paint that well and all of those things are super important for my bakery.
But giving up is no option. I'm not good enough YET, but I feel with every part of my being that I will be. My red-haired friend didn't become that good by just sitting there and weeping over how bad she was. And so I won't either.
So here's to having a courageous goal, and being courageous enough to sail right towards it, through all the storms that are ahead of me. I'm strong enough and I know I will succeed.
Today I've grabbed my future with both hands, and I'm never letting go again.
Today is the day that bakery school has started.
I was so freaking nervous. I'm always very nervous to get into something new, especially with completely new people. But everything turned out completely fine, of course. I met a really nice girl during classes and later on the bus I got to talk to another girl that's also in my class, and our conversation was just completely EPIC. She started asking me about my blue streak of hair and then told me she'd had blue, pink, purple and, here it comes, "Hayley Williams orange hair", and then asked me if I knew Hayley. So I just stared at her with huge eyes and said "OMG YOU LOVE PARAMORE!? JUST SO YOU KNOW, YOU'RE MY NEW BEST FRIEND NOW."
I have no idea how this is all gonna turn out to be, but I know that when I walked into the bakery at our school... I couldn't stop smiling. And in the end, I realized that it didn't matter at all if I was gonna have friends or not. What really mattered was that, that feeling of walking into that bakery. What matters is that I'm doing this for myself, and I'm working very hard towards my dream.
I could've taken the easy way out. When I took a year off, I could've said "That's it, I'm not going back to school". But I didn't. I found something I really loved, I got terrified while wanting it, but through all the fear and all the doubt I decided to reach out for my dreams. And today is the day that I grabbed them tight with both hands. And I'm not planning on ever letting them go again.
Will I see you in my bakery one day? It's getting so real.
Life. It's so wonderful. Inspiration going in an everlasting circle from one person to the other, breezing by a few others that will have it grace their skin, or tickle their nose. And if they're lucky, they'll grab the essence of it and join into the wondrous feeling of inspiration, no matter what they're gonna use it for. Even if you just feel it, enjoy it, because it is a mighty emotion. It can change lives. It can change minds. It can change hearts. It can make you reach any goal you will be brave enough to set for yourself, no matter how unreachable it seems. Inspiration is love from others. Inspiration is art. Inspiration is knowing that you're not alone, even when you really are. Inspiration is squealing in the dark times. Inspiration is crying when the sun shines. It is heartbreaking, and it's heartwarming. Inspiration is nothing, but it's everything.
May it grace your skin, or may it tickle your nose, or may it sway by your eyes as a pink cloud, whispering your name, asking you to come and play. And may you be wise and brave enough to reach out for it.
Thank you to every single person that's ever inspired me enough to make me believe in my dreams. I don't know if you'll ever know how much it means to me. You're my pink, magical cloud full of cotton candy, baby-blue cupcakes and wondrous creatures that will be all over my bakery walls. And don't forget the macarons. You are my macarons.
If this don't make sense, then I don't know what will.
Life couldn’t be more wonderful. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more inspired to chase my dreams, to be as creative as possible. I don’t have a lot of friends, but I’m so excited that almost all of them are a part of my very near future. It’s way too hot so tomorrow me and two of my friends from high school are meeting up to go swimming by some lake-ish thing. Seeing my best friend Isa in 6 days, having 4 days together before I’m FINALLY starting the rest of my life by starting bakery school. I’ve been irritating my friends by talking non-stop about what I want my bakery to be like and how I’m gonna operate it, and still they’re so supportive and excited for me. Three friends in particular: Isa, Amber and Claudia. So to keep being creative, I’ve set a goal for myself: to make these three beautiful girls artsy packages with a few surprises inside, to thank them for supporting me through it all and for believing that I can make all my dreams come true. Of course a few of those surprises inside will be linked to my future bakery. At least, that’s the plan ^^ I can’t say any more than this because I want it to be surprises for all three of them and since they follow me, I can’t really talk about it ^^
Took this picture yesterday. Whenever I’m inspired to the brim, I wait till it’s dark, play Cider Sky’s Northern Lights and put on my astrostar. Most of the time, that leads to me playing with my camera and trying to take pictures of the magnificence of all those stars on my ceiling. This is one of my favorite pictures from yesterday.

Right now, I'm trying to order my self-made diary for next school year. I start in 17 days, how amazingly weird is that?
I've decided to make a diary full with art from my favorite artists. It's going to keep inspiring me during bakery school, gonna remind me of where I wanna go. I love my diary so much already, it looks so cute and wonderful and mesmerizing and just... Magical. I can't wait to actually hold it in my hands.
Now I just want the program to work with me and let me order the freaking thing!
17 days. My bakery seems closer than ever. I think I'm going to try out bakery designs on the walls in my room, trying to paint characters and woods on them and just hope it works out. Pushing myself to keep learning, because lately I've been a bit lazy on that department. But now that school's going to start and this future is finally going to begin, I'm determined to become the person I want to be, and do all the things I've always wanted to do.
I'm terrified, and that's exactly why I'm so excited.
Sorry for not updating for so long! Haven't baked or been busy with bakery plans for a long time. I did do some stuff to get ready for bakery school but nothing too interesting. To make up for not updating, here's a picture of a new bakery character that I drew only minutes ago. His name is Denzel and the plan is that he'll be mesmerized by another character... Hopefully I can talk more about that soon! I've decided that my bakery will be very character-based. Every single character that will be drawn/painted on a wall will have a story. So does little Denzel here. I love making up stories so this will be another creative outlet that I can use for the bakery. I'm so excited about everything! School starts at the end of August, that's so soon! =D
Stepping into my dream.
Yesterday, after picking up my passport (I could've gotten myself an ID card but since I'm planning on going to the US next year, that wouldn't have been the smartest choise), my mom and I went shopping. Since we had to walk from the council offices to the center, we walked passed stores, shops and restaurants we normally wouldn't pass. One of those "restaurants" was a 'confectionery/tearoom', as they call it.
I remember going to that bakery when I was little. I always used to go with my mom and grandmother. But I hadn't been there for YEARS. My mom still went there every once in a while, just to pick up the spicy sausage rolls we all love. And now she decided to pick those up again.
I remember stepping in and seeing everything from a different perspective than ever before. It was like I walked into my own dream. The building was a complete dream. The pastries, rolls and everything else they sold looked amazingly good. The colors of the walls - old pink and seafoam green/lightblue - were perfectly picked. Everything was amazing. Everything.
And all I could do was stare.
And then I realized that this business was still going strong. Since 1937, that business has been going strong. Lately I've been so scared of losing everything because my bakery would be able to fail completely, but standing there, seeing everything around me, my own dream so visible, and seeing the success in that business... I got full of joy, hope and determination again.
After stepping out of the bakery and walking towards the center to go shopping, we saw another tearoom/confectionery/bakery. Another one that was successful. I'm planning on going back to both bakeries soon. I need the inspiration.
Lately I've been so scared of my own dreams. Scared that my dreams are stupid, that it won't be as good as I want it to be, that I won't enjoy it as much as I believe I will. That everything will be way too tough. But after yesterday, I'm sure again. I'm sure I will succeed.
I'm opening a bakery in a few years. I'd welcome you with open arms if you'd like to visit.
I'm back on track.
Half the fun is the road towards your dreams.
Yesterday I've hung out with some friends that I hadn't seen in a while. We went to an art exposition at my old highschool because one of my friends had her work there and we wanted to support her and see it. It was really awesome, but dang how untalented I feel now ^^ Also, all the works I loved were the ones that my friend pointed at and said "the person who made that is probably gonna fail". One reason why I don't think you can grade art is because everyone does art in a different way, but let's not talk about that.
So because I hadn't seen my friends in a while, one of them heard me talk about my own bakery for the first time. And I told her that I felt untalented because I've been doodling a lot for my own bakery and I wanted it to be covered in art. She then looked at me and told me "Well maybe you should focus on your education first, THEN you can dream about your bakery."
My first thought? "Eh, NO. You don't get it." But I thought it with a smile. People really don't get it, do they? How the years of planning and dreaming before even coming remotely close to fulfilling your dreams might be the most fun of all. All the work that I'm putting into my bakery right now, I might not even use. But I have fun. I have plans, I can think, I can work on making things better. It's all about having FUN. It's no fun to just focus on the education. I focus on the goal, the future. And I'm doodling. And I'm pushing myself to be more of an artist. And I hope I can succeed in making it look perfect, even though I'm not the best painter, or drawer, or I don't even consider myself an artist at all.
About that, my other friend said "Well you can hire people to paint/design for you". I might. But I wanna do the designing, because that's SO MUCH FUN. I'm pushing myself to become an actual artist, to be able to actually fill that place with dozens of characters, living in a world I created. Because that's most of the fun for me. Is it weird, that I wanna do that while not being the best at it? Probably. But one thing about me that I love is that once I have a goal, I won't stop before I reach it. And I will reach this.
What do you think? Am I weird? Am I crazy wanting to do things that I probably can't do? Or is thinking I can't do it the only reason I can't? Because I'm starting to believe I actually CAN.
Either way, I'm gonna do this my way. You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. So I'll keep dreaming, I'll keep doodling and I'll keep designing. Because half the fun is the road towards your dreams.

One of my best friends, Amber (everything-isdifferentnow on tumblr) just wrote a short story about me opening my bakery. She came up with a PERFECT name for my bakery and she just read my mind on so many levels. It's honestly one of the best gifts I ever received. I'm gonna print it, put it up on my wall and read it every single time I'm discouraged.
One of the most amazing parts about this story was the fun we all had on my dream, on my bakery. I love how it's starting to grow into not only my dream, but others' as well. The story takes place in the future, of course, but in it Amber writes about "the day we've all been excited about for years". She seems to really look forward to it, maybe as much as I do. And I love love LOVE that. As Charlavail once said about Sam, I think Amber sort of is my "partner in bakery crime". <3
So excited for the future. But I'm most excited for the road towards it. Having fun with my friends, dreaming non-stop and making those dreams come true. Ideas and inspiration oozing out of me. My friends helping me with details, art, furniture and promotion (two things I never thought about: furniture and promotion! Now I'm even excited about that!). I'm crazily excited.
Everyone go give my buddy Amber a big hug for making my day. It was a crappy day but now everything's perfect thanks to her. Thank you lady <3
Been doodling for about two hours and this is all I got. Haha I'm not a real real artist, blame it on that ^^ But I love how the bakery's really becoming real to me. I know how I want it to look and before I used to have problems coming up with things to draw, really making things up, but now I'm oozing inspiration.
These are two doodles that I'm gonna paint on one wall, the woods-wall as I call it. The girl will be surrounded by animals that live in the woods, will wear a red dress and she'll probably have blue dip dyed hair. That cute little office guy hanging from the tree is called Mr. Munchkin. I've adored him from the very first time I've drawn him. He's not a new character but I didn't know where I could place him in my bakery. So now I know: he's hanging from a cupcake tree. Even serious little businessmen like him can't resist a good cupcake ^^
Been drawing this while watching Snow White. I'm probably gonna continue doodling since they're both not done yet and I'm still oozing inspiration. Probably gonna watch Bambi while doing so. Thanks for the idea, Charlavail ^^
Thoughts put to paper.
Or to Tumblr, to be exact.
Lately I've been doubting my entire future once again. I know that I was super excited about my own bakery, that I couldn't stop talking about it, couldn't stop getting ideas and couldn't stop wishing that I could already be about 5 years older so that I could work non-stop on my bakery. But lately, all of that has gone away. And then I baked yesterday and it didn't turn out the way I hoped it would and it just made me doubt even more.
But don't we all go through that? New things are exciting, are wonderful, scary and beautiful. Once you get used to the idea, once it's not that new anymore and things start to settle, it almost seems like you lost all your excitement. Isn't that true?
A little over a week ago I went to a concert. While I was gone, the last art print I bought came in. And now I'm looking at that print, and I remember what I'm doing this for, why I love this and why I wanna do this. The print says "Never Give Up", written in a moon that shines no a starlit night. A girl looks at the moon, sitting on a beach, and everything about this print reminds me of Alaska. The one place I wanna go to before I die.
This print reminds me to never give up, to keep fighting for my dreams.
Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration, don't you? And yes, maybe the future is going to be different from what I thought it would be. But isn't that the exciting part? Yes, I'm scared, I'm terrified, even scared that this is not what I want at all. But one second later I dream about my bakery and feel happy again. I guess that's an artists life, isn't it? Being conflicted.
I'm sure that this is going to work out fine. Sometimes I just need a little inspiration. And even if my bakery would never happen... At least I had fun. And to me, that's what life's about: having fun.
I might start doodling for my bakery in a bit. Mood at the moment: excited.
Bought these two art prints a while ago and they came in today. They're the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen. The details are amazing. The paintings are beautiful, magical, just perfect. I'm posting this here on my bakery blog because I want to broaden my horizons when it comes to art since I want to cover the entire bakery in art. I've also been drawing a lot because I want to design most of the bakery myself. Next to these two I bought one more print that means a LOT to me and should arrive any minute.
If you know a great artist that I should check out, or maybe even just one or two pieces, please leave a message in my ask box? I won't bite, I promise =)
Oh, and I also bought an astrostar. Best decision I ever made. I need a light like that for the bakery. So much inspiration.
