right here is when i learned that gable is a family sim, and a bitter one at that.

gable: *sigh* my only regret in life is falling for my no-good cheating ex. how dare she keep my child away from me??

well, hopefully he doesn't mind raquel's wandering eye or that she is still involved with lance or maybe lance will die before it becomes a problem.

sir's advertisements are paying off big time with yet another new resident for the nursing home. gable arrives at the perfect time too since lance is probably going to wind up offing himself.

plus, he's rich! how is he so rich? why didn't i steal your money and give it to pia??

gable has obviously lived a good, long life as a fabulously wealthy deadbeat and he is ready to ride out his golden years in style. and who to better live it up with than raquel, his long-time flame and fellow carpool rider?

this is not good news for sir though, poor thing. now even the frail, sickly, incompetent mature humans are making do on their own. obsolescence seems closer than ever...

if he doesn't figure out how to change things fast he might wind up in the recycling bin.

an uncontrollable elder sim with the flu?

lance is neither here for a good time nor a long time apparently.

unlike raquel, lance has not been doing so hot recently. trapped in terminal glitchy roommate mode, he is basically running his own "i'm surrounded by idiots" challenge except he is the idiot.

raquel has been on her best behavior lately and should be very proud of herself.

are there occasional slip ups? yes.

do those slip ups typically involve her (lack of) work attendance? sure.

being a mom-in-training is hard! raquel needs her breaks just like any other sim. and if those breaks tend to align with her work schedule, then so be it.

having raised way too many kids of their own, doreen and jasper are content with letting the younger and/or robotic residents tend to the children while they cuddle on the sidewalk under the watchful gaze of curfew dog.

don't worry, sir, at least you can be certain that the dogs (and the living room carpet) will always have need of you.

even the dogs are obsessed with the toddlers now.

actually that's not fair of me-- the puppy version of the nameless dog was cute, as are all sims 2 puppies. their cuteness was probably why i apparently decided it was time to make more of them.

the acquisition of toddler skills has turned into a silent arms race between wally and sir.

the biggest winners, of course, are the toddlers themselves.

a new parenting craze is sweeping through the nursing home and wally is not immune. she's been inspired by raquel to give the whole take-care-of-my-kids thing another try.

sir: master... what are you doing?

wally: teaching my son to walk.

sir: there is no need for you to do this. i am perfectly programmed to--

wally: i know. but i'm still going to do it.

raquel: i'm gonna practice parenting so hard while angel is gone! he'll be in for such a shock once he sees the new and improved me :)

i'm sure angel will appreciate your potty-training skills.

raquel is remembering why she slacked on the whole parenting thing in the first place. teaching kids is sooooo boooooring.

but when she pushes through the boredom, there is a sense of satisfaction from a job well done.

angel decides to take wally's advice to heart and head off to university.

raquel: i'm...really proud of you, angel. would you call me when you land? just so i know you arrived safely.

angel: ...don't worry, i will.

lance: you don't have to call me btw lol

some careful distance between him and his mom is probably for the best right now.

lance: if i did before, i sure as hell am not gonna have one now. time to cash in, baby!

wally: hey. i couldn't help but notice you were giving your mom the cold shoulder.

angel: so?

wally: so i know what it's like doing the whole angsty teen routine. and it gets old pretty quickly. take it from someone who lost both of her parents before she could earn her servo piloting license. even if the angst is earned, you're just gonna burn yourself out in the end.

angel: then what should i do?

wally: well i went to college and got knocked up by my high school principal. i'm sure you can figure out a better solution than that.

angel: ...college, huh?

doreen: wow, mother and son reunited! talk about a picture perfect ending for you two :)

raquel: it is exciting, isn't it angel dear?

angel: ...

raquel: angel?

angel: here wally, let me clear the table for you. it's the least i can do since you've done soooo much for me (unlike some people).

wally: heeyyy i wasn't finished licking the rancid grease off the plate :( *minus*
