I wish no one would comment on my weight. Whether I gain it or lose it. It always sucks to hear "oh you've gained weight" and, I admit, it's really, really nice to hear "oh my, you've lost weight" but, to be honest, I'm tired of both phrases. A younger me would find this shocking. Take the good and the bad and all that jazz. But I'm just at a point where I don't want to hear any of it. How am I supposed to feel good about myself when one of the first things people notice about me after not having seen me in a long while is "Wow! You've lost weight!" Like, I said, it's awesome at first and then I sit down and think "Wow, so they noticed that my weight before? It mattered? Why? Oh my god now I have to make sure I don't gain any of it back before I see them again next time otherwise they'll think I'm gaining all of it back again" and other things along the same line. I know it's sounds silly. But one time, I read that when you meet a little girl, you shouldn't compliment her outfit or her looks, but instead engage her in a conversation that's more intellectual (what did you do today? what's your favorite animal? etc.) because when they're young they're more impressionable and you saying something about how they look just tells them that that matters. I think this is kind of along the same lines. Just that I'm older now, and I already have this mindset that looks matter, but I'm trying to change it. Am I making any sense at all?
