absolutely elated that joel smallishbeans won, I was rooting from him from the START. he really fit the season's vibe as the winner and everything was just perfect.

favourite scene was definitely the teleportation chase which I think really solidified just how good he is at the game.

the fact that the last thing mr. scar good of the times was yapping about before perishing was about finding grian, thinking he's on their side [ more like exclusively his? ], only for the same man to kill his entire team right after he's gone.

When we all first realized that scar was left behind on his own in secret life, we all saw it as something terrible, a tragedy. But after the finale I think it isn't so anymore. It is rest, it is respite. A moment of calm before being thrown in yet another death game. He tends to the sunflowers and talks to his dear friends, the shadow people, when they come to visit. Enjoying the sweet monotony untainted by the blood and violence he knows he will be dragged into again. But that moment won't be now and the sunflowers are waiting.

It is his peace.

I've seen a lot of people take scar's "what happened in third life?" question and interpret it as scar not remembering third life—which makes for a very fun idea

however, I'd like to offer:

scar and grian’s entire interaction is the two of them trying to gauge where they stand with one another. grian’s hesitant “…just like in third life” is a silent question, both trying to discern if scar remembers the desert, and how he feels about it. it’s his hesitant foot forward

scar remembers third life—of course he does. he knew so many of the answers to the questions. he remembers every little detail of that game, because it was probably where he was happiest

he only asks grian “what happened in third life?” because it's a test. he's testing the waters between them, now standing as two victors on equal footing, equal ground. he plays dumb because it's scar, and he never shows every card in his hand, every trick up his sleeve. before scar takes any kind of step forward, he needs to know how grian will explain the desert, what he’ll say about it.

he asks “what happened in third life?” but there’s more questions lying in it. “do you still care?” “am I safe to trust you with my heart?” “did it mean something to you?”

scar is sneaky like that, subtle, as he pretends he doesn’t know or doesn’t remember. he needs to see what grian’s reaction is before they take up their dance again

is it to early to say that gem's attitude with her snail (ready to accept it full hearted, treating it like family and fawning over it) even with it being intent on hurting and killing her says a lot about her relationships with people in the life series? how it makes sense that she lets dangerous things get close enough and endears herself to them until she forgets that they may cause her harm? that she prefers things this way?
