Guess who saw MCR live during her 21st birthday lol

It sounds like a fever dream but here is my My chemical romance live experience

First things first,none of the pictures above are my own. Honestly I just vibed the entire show without thinking of getting my phone. So all of them are done by my kind friends who also attended

I nearly sobbed when I realised they are real people lol

Then Gerard stepped on the stage with a huge trench coat on and processed to nearly trip over something and all the tension was gone lmao

They started with Foundations and then played Nanana

Then Nanana but Faster

Then Gerard wanted to play it again even faster, but Frank was like "no way in hell"

THEY PLAYED BOTH BOY DIVISION AND THE HOUSE OF WOLVES

I vividly remember the Times when I was sitting in my room and listening to Boy division while thinking how great would this song go live and later reminding myself that this thing would never happen,because mcr is no longer

And hearing it live with Gerard right in front of me made my heart do couple of skips

Honestly entire setlist was very fast and all the songs besides The ghost of you and Kids from yesterday were perfect for jumping and screaming

Gee did amazing speech about war (that people are making copies out of people making copies of the war) and processed to smash and kick a printer named Stuart ✨for the arts✨

In the beginning I thought that he was destroying a water bottle lol. Then I saw on the screen that it was something like guitar amplifier. After we exited the venue my friends informed me that it was in fact a copier/printer which made much more sense tbh

I had an amazing view on the right and saw Ray all the time. And he looked so happy to perform,he was smiling the entire time and it gave me the time of my life

I also love Frank's fit. It was scene as hell

Mikey killed the entire performance,every song that he possibly could

And also,can we talk about Ray's solo during the ending of Kids? And Gerard hyping him from behind 🥺

Plus, Gee sounded so nice. He keept praising the crew, talked about the weather and called the ocean of phone lights "a Christmas"

I loved every moment of yesterday,but I still feel so weird. Like how could I stand in like 4th row from the stage and see Mcr play live. Unreal

It's one of the moments that I will cherish forever

Plus I got myself merch without standing in a huge line,because we were early in the venue so that was also cool

Shout out to the security who gave us water so that we won't die in the heat and sue them

And Gerard looked so concerned when we passed along those watter bottles from one person to another lol

It was worth waiting six years to see them live

Also, there was a support artist and guess who played guitar for them

ANDREW BERKLEY MARTIN (who I firstly recognized by the iconic hair of course)

It was like buy one get one free for me. Watch one of my favoutrite bands live and watch one of my favourite guitarist live

It was also my first ever big live show. And now I understand why people love them so much. I want to attend more shows in the future for sure

Breach - reaction to the album

Hi, let's listen to Breach together :)

Before anything, my ranking is:

The Contract

Drum Show

City Walls (just because it's the newest one, so I only listened to it like once lol)

(I'll spare you my reaction to the top2, since I wouldn't shut up about them since they came out)

And based on the vibes I think I'll like RAWFEAR because it's fancy in all caps and Cottonwood because of the cosy vibes in the title

Okay, so grab a coffee, because it's going to be a long post and let's get it started!

City Walls

I was so shocked to discover that this is the opener, it just doesn't really sound like one

But I really liked it, from the beginning to the end. Musically and lyrically

And now, listening to it as a song, without focusing on the MV I can appreciate it much more

Love the piano and drum combo in the bridge

The static is giving Slenderman lol (sorry I'm back in my Marble Hornets era)

The "entertain my faith" hits so hard, but I kinda wished for longer scream like in the Drum Show

And the transition to Heavydirtysoul is sick af

This song sounds like it belongs to the Regional at Best, and it would sit next to the first version of Ode to sleep, do you see my vision?

It's a strong contender to be my favourite so far!

Oh, we're so back with being The Cure coded. The beginning is giving me very strong A Forest vibe

The numbers are also reminding me of David Bowie's Space Oddity for some reason

This one makes me think about the people whom I'm no longer friends with, due to them not being the best people

It's really like a conversation with them and "You tore me up more than you know" is exactly what I wish to tell one of them. Bro really changed my way of living just to hurt me in the end

It's really beautiful tho, just a bit too sad for me, because of the reasons above

Okay, this one is a completely 180 from Cottonwood

Love the usage of all the instruments in this song

"This has not been interesting in a while, while, while" – nah, I really like this album so far

This one sounds like falling in and out of sleep

The vocals are so amazing here!

Days Lie Dormant

He did not just sample Josh's "aaah" into the intro lol

I LOVE THE LYRICS

This might be my favourite of the album and I'm only a minute in

Oh, the bridge is such an emotional roller coaster

No really, I love this one for its lyrics <333

And this whole song is giving a montage in a teen/young adult movie about a protagonist who is chasing their dream and is trying to find their place in the world

Closing thoughts

Man, what an album. I'm not sure if it's my favourite, but I believe that I kinda liked Clancy better when it came out. But still, it's an amazing album. Great way to end the story with using the reversed Truce to show both growth and being stuck in a constant cycle. I think that now, after listening to the whole album Days Lie Dormant might be my favourite from the album. But for sure that could change after I'll listen to Breach another 50 times. And oh boy, I sure will listen to it an unhealthy number of times.

And I'm happy that I waited to be in better mental health state to listen to the album. Because now I can associate it with happy emotions again, instead of focusing on all the negatives in my life.

Now, why did people got chicken/fish instead of yay/nay for the execution at tonight’s MCR show?

AAAAAA - I mean, Drum Show - theories

God they make me feel things again

So, first of all why do I think that the song has more meaning outside of the lore? It also have some parallels to heavydirtysoul. So buckle up and let's unpack it

1. The MV

So the MV is predominantly set in the car, which can symbolise personal power or self-direction. For some, it might also be a safe space or a substitute to one's home. It is also the in between, just like the parking lot - the second main location. A parking lot, between stores and the street, right?

What is more, the lyrics (which we will unpack in a sec) being stuck between two places is mentioned. So they are not there out of their own will

We also have the main colours being red, yellow and later orange. As we all know, in this lore red=bad, yellow=good, to put it simply. So being the wires being yellow should be a good thing right?

We can also see a rosary, which is not only a symbol of someone's faith, but also their journey in life

It might be a stretch, but Tyler is literary making prayer hands and have the light of hope behind him, so I believe that we do have a bit of Christian symbolism here

And of course, in the end Josh is bowing - the show is over. Maybe because they ran out of time, or because he found his voice again

On that note I think we should move on to the parallels

2. heavydirtysoul

And to be clear, I don't think that the car is the only paralell

If anything, I believe that it is built on the same Christian principles. So HDS it a prayer for finding one's soul or purpose

So here we have Tyler in a cage right? And the only way out of this cage is to destroy it. But in Drum Show the car is open, as if the cage was also open, but the person was too afraid to leave

We also have different people driving in HDS it is the personification of dark thoughts and in Drum Show is the person responsible for their life - Josh

But the whole thing differs, in HDS Tyler is stuck in the self destructing circle, since in the end the MV loops. And I believe that Drum Show have a happy ending

Especially with the lyrics being cut off in the end "I want to—" he doesn't finish with the "change" because he is already a changed man Speaking of the lyrics

3. The lyrics

I think that the Puttin' on a drum show on it's own is simply a symbol of going home after a hard day and jamming to the music. Just like Josh in the MV

Completed checklist for today / Now they have to let you out of your cage - after doing all the necesary things the protagonist can go home to chill. Sounds fun, right? Not really, since in the next line Feelin' stuck between a rut and a home / Two places he does not wanna go - we find out that home is not his safe place either

Maybe the parts He'll take the longer way home is something similar to revenge bedtime procrastination. According to sleepfundation.org, "“Revenge bedtime procrastination” is when people intentionally stay up late to enjoy personal time, even when they know it will negatively affect their sleep. It often happens when individuals feel they have little control over their daily schedules." Which is pretty much what the protagonist is doing. Intentionally stay on his way longer so that he could be alone and enjoy his personal time or be able to gather his thoughts

However, he seems to be trying to drown out his thoughts, based on the part He drives fast just to feel it, feel it (Feel it) / He drives slow if the song's not over (Feel it) / Drown it out, drown it out

He is drowning the thoughts to the point of physical pain as in Rather feel something than nothing at all / So I'm sweats all around as the heads start to fall Maybe in his everyday life he feels so overwhelmed with his routine that he is turning to tuning out his emotions. You know, zone out?

I believe that the most important part of the song is Josh's bridge, which reads I've been this way / I want to change. Here he finally recognizes the negative patterns in themselves and longs to break free But, it could reflect frustration with depression, anxiety, or harmful habits and the feeling of wanting to improve but feeling stuck

This leads me to my final thoughts

I think this song marks a symbolic breakthrough for Josh. Throughout his career with the band, he’s chosen to stay behind the drums, avoiding the spotlight of singing. Since Josh has openly struggled with anxietym and only began singing small parts during the Clancy tour, taking on an entire bridge must have been nerve-wracking. In that sense, both his character in the lore and Josh himself were fighting to find their voices, and this song shows that they finally have.

So for the irl Josh, this could mean he now believes in himself far more than in previous years and feels ready to challenge himself by singing and finding new ways to express himself.

And for the lore Josh - Mr. Torchbearer, maybe it is the beginning of the revenge? Maybe he is the one who will kick Nico's ass in the final battle and will help to avenge Clancy? For lore it could even mean that bro got new superpower, like in Choker. So let's stay tuned and see when will this nightmare end
