With all the chaos going on- I’ll probably be on this hellish website until the day they actually shut it down. I know I haven’t been active on my art account for forever, even on my main I haven’t been around as much, but I’m still here.

I know everyone always says how horrible this site is but I’ve been on here 6-8 years I think? and there really is nothing else like it. I truly believe your experience here depends on who you follow and I’ve made it a point to purge anyone I’ve ever found problematic, and haven’t really had any issues because of that. I primarily follow other artists and DA folk and while I never got extensively involved in communities or made many friends on here, this place actually does mean a lot to me. And I will be sad if tumblr does end up shutting down/ or a lot of people decide to leave- because even if I’m not as active as I used to be, it’s still a safe place/sanctuary/happy place for me.

anti-cullen players: cullen is complete trash and a horrible person who should be despised by everyone!!1!

extreme pro-cullen players: my bf has never done anything wrong, ever, in his entire life, and is made of sunshine and should be loved by all <3

me: cullen wanted to help people and devoted his life to an order he idolized since childhood, a cause which he believed in, but was ultimately corrupt and fine with throwing out the rules at the first sign of trouble. he was traumatized at the kinloch circle and still tried to follow the templars, but with a hardened outlook.  he served under a fanatic leader who used her superiority to influence him into being complicit with her abuse towards her chargers. after a time, he become weary of her and when the depth of madness became apparent, tried to remove her from command and help the people of kirkwall.  he believes that his actions can never be forgiven and he has no right to ask for that forgiveness. regardless, he still does his best to help people and atone for his past mistakes.  cullen is a complex, nuanced character who is neither good nor bad and cannot be written of as one or the other

Pardon the positivity, but I just wanted to say how sweet I think it is that it’s been three years since the last DA game, yet there is still an active, passionate online community creating fan content for the series and others there to fuel it. I’m so thankful that there are people to talk about it with, when we all could have jumped ship. 

I feel like it’s also telling of how wonderful the series is in itself, to inspire so many ideas and discussions… And I can’t wait to see what comes next for it, with all you.

I know there is distinction in the things I draw/paint but I wish I had like a default style- where I didn’t have to actively decide, ok I’ll do realistic this time, or anime the next. Where I could just draw any character in the same consistent style, and preferably something that wouldn’t take me forever and a day to crank out. And it sucks because even if I achieved this, I’d probably still be wishing I did things differently. As soon as I finish something on one end of the spectrum, I regret it, and wish I had done the opposite. I’m not even referring to what makes your art recognizable. I’m talking more- the kind of art. ugh... /ignore me

I think of all DA characters, Anders is drawn with the most variation between artists. Everyone does him just a little differently.

So like.... Is Anders really fkn hard for anyone else to draw?

I mean it doesn’t help that I can’t take my own screenshots but... Idk I feel like I’m missing something. I’m drawing what he looks like, and yet, the likeness isn’t there.

Is it the hair? The measurement of a certain feature- that you can immediately identify him? What separates him from say Alistair/Cullen?

Whoever started the chain reaction that made Revenant Cullen blow up again, thank you. All that positivity inspired me, and I actually plugged in my tablet for the first time in months. Literally- I don’t think I’ve drawn anything since the end of last year. It’s not Cullen, but have an Ursula because she’s precious and I love her.
