help me, please?

I always have difficulties with starting a fanfic when i want to write something, like i don´t know where or how to start.

Does anyone have tips on how to start?

If you have an idea for a fic or a story in general, try writing the bits that make you the most excited or the bits that inspired the fic/story first.

For instance, when im writing one of my pieces, im most excited for the ballroom scenes where there's dancing, realisations, observations of other kingdoms and that spark of danger that puts the end to the fun before the 2 main characters grab a bottle of booze and end up drunk dancing together before things start to change between them-

Or when writing my fanfics- i like to drabble to a friend first and see what input they can offer before I find a place I think is good to start- fanart and music helps too- (for idea generation and just having a place to start-)

But everyone starts with a draft, and it's okay for that to be bullet points or just rough outlining the plot- it can be bad before you write it out and iron out the creases so it's to your liking..

But have fun with it!

For me personally

I have a very random idea mostly it's a dialogue that should be put in the middle of the writing, and then my brain just comes up with scenarios that leads to that dialogue

So i usually write the dialogue down and let it marinate for a while and then i get to work

some people will be like “I wonder why fanfic writers don’t share their works anymore😔” and then this is them when a writer is kind enough to share something they write — as a hobby, for their own enjoyment — with them for free.

some people really don’t realize how privileged they are that they get fanfics for free. imagine having access to something for free because someone is kind enough to share it with you… and then being rude, entitled and an ungrateful pos to that person who was kind enough to share their creation with you for free

“almost 1 year is a lil too much for me” fuck off. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything. one of my favorite fics was updated after 13 years, and what I did is that I thanked the author for choosing to continue the work, I didn’t act like a spoiled toddler by asking why they didn’t update sooner. and even if a writer chooses to abandon their fic permanently with no explanation, that is their choice, their hobby, their decision. they don’t owe your entitled ass anything.

you people let tiktok rot your brains to the point you see everything as content farm and engagement. not a piece of art created by the artist’s love and passion. it’s dystopian.
