Punisher: One Last Kill, aka 'Never let Jon Bernthal write again.' I know he read the comics; he wrote a foreword to the new edition of 'Welcome Back, Frank.' I think he just doesn't like the character and is coming with alternative takes.

He spends most of the runtime yelling like a baboon, crying, and hallucinating people. The fight scenes are not well choreographed. Ma Gnucci (not mauled by polar bears) just rolls up and tells him that her dozens and dozens of hired killers (none of them a little bit competent, I guess the budget for the assassination had to be cut) will show up at his place, she even tells him the exact time. Frank just sits there like a sack of potatoes and his would-be killers waste time murdering everyone in the block for no reason (they really have no reason for this).

The not-so-subtle implication of the story is that by not picking up the mantle, Frank is somehow responsible for the unrest and mass murder happening around him, and he should man up and start punishing people. This is a misunderstanding of the character. He is not here to fight crime or to make life better for people; he is there to punish people whom he deems unworthy to continue living.

The scenes where we see the Gnucci family getting murdered as Ma Gnucci does her little speech are straight up hilarious. I just couldn't take any of it seriously.
