I’m deeply saddened to share my mother, Merilee Anne Eaton, passed away on Friday morning, at home in Ojai, surrounded by her family and animals. Merilee was a loving, passionate, and creative soul. She was the mother of three boys and the wife of a criminal defense attorney, an avid animal rescuer and community member. She was inspired by the complexities of life and found her identity through family, creative expression, and art. Be it needlepoint, painting furniture, decoupage, stained glass, sumi-e painting, ceramics, mosaics, or bluegrass fiddle, she believed that expressing yourself through art IS the meaning of life. She was my biggest supporter as I, too, chose to embrace the artist’s life. She brought us closer together through the gift of The Artist’s Way book, and empowered me to pursue my curiosities as I continue to carve out my own place in this world. My mother taught me to lead with love and make art. I have so much more to say about my beloved mother and the indelible mark she left on those around her, but the words escape me (for now). Any words you may have would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life for Merilee Anne Eaton is being organized, details and information to follow. https://www.instagram.com/p/ConcqdpSCDS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
