Yeah, sure! Go for it :)
Could u write how each of the main Mechs would react to compliments? 👀
Maybe a simple one like "you're so pretty!!"?
Ehehehehhs
Pat pat
Sure thing!
THE MECHANISMS REACT TO "YOU'RE SO PRETTY!"
Jonny grins. "I know."
"... I am?" Tim asks, curious at to why you'd think that. Somewhere Jonny groans.
Brian wasn't looking and assumes that you're Galahad. "Yeah, yeah, you've said that a thousand times." Once he realises that you're not, he'll mumble something along the lines of "thanks and sorry".
Ashes does the exact same as Jonny, just... Smoother. It's almost like they know eachother...
Nastya doesn't even look at you. "Flattery won't work on me."
Marius puts his monogoggle down with a grin. "How about now?"
"I know, right?!" Raph responds excitedly, assuming you mean her wings.
Ivy looks up from her book, raising an eyebrow at you. "What do you want?"
"I'm pretty??" Toy Soldier asks, starstruck. "You think I'm pretty??"
If you want the honorary Mechanisms (or other album characters), tell me! Also Dr. Carmilla is not included because I'm not confident enough in my idea of her. Sorry Carmilla fans "'^^
Red — Galahad
Orange — Brian
Black — Jonny
Purple — Marius
Pink — Raphaella
Galahad blinked against the light as Brian lifted him from the floor and into his arms. As he was carried through the ship, trailing blood through all of Camelot and Annwn, all the way to the depths of the ship, he found it difficult to focus on much more than the bronze, rusty man holding him. He'd been the prophet to send Galahad to the chair, he was the one to save him when he was on the brink of death, on the brink of faithless. And my... Right side up, two things became very clear about him. First of all, the name branded on his chest very clearly read 'Brian' and not 'Merlin'. Second, he looked far better with all that long hair down. Messy, sure, but gorgeous.
"... Brian?" The Hanged Man didn't respond at first. It took a good moment for him to remember that that was, in fact, his name. "Ah-- What is it?"
"Where exactly are you taking me?"
"To the ship."
"What ship? We're already on a ship!"
"Oh no, I meant my ship. Aurora. Used to be a sentient moon, now a sentient ship... It's a whole story."
"And you know this ship hasn't moved?"
"I'm the only one who can fly her. She hasn't moved."
"She's sentient but she can't move on her own?"
"We bond over the experience."
"..." Galahad laughed, ignoring the blood he coughed.
Not much later, the two approached a white panelled spaceship entirely unfit to the dark, gloomy surroundings. As they came within range, the entrance revealed itself, letting a bridge down. From the ship came running two people. Both decked in goggles, belts and worn fabrics, one with hair a bit longer than Brian's, the other with black veins. The latter began to complain the moment they came within reach. "Brian, where the Hell has you been?! Aurora's been repaired for ages! And--"
"No time. Get Marius." Brian interrupted him, leaving no space for discussion.
Galahad opened his eyes, finding himself in a bed, in a dark, uninspiring room. On one side of the bed, Brian sat in a chair, looking to be asleep. On the other side stood two people. A lady with wings, decked in metal-working gear and a man with a monogoggle and metal hand, both looking as though they were interrupted in the middle of their work. "Shh... Best not to wake him. We didn't think you'd wake up so soon."
"... What are you doing?"
"Helping! Brian likes you, wants to keep you alive. And since one of us brought someone in a couple ten thousand years ago, I guess Brian saw himself to have the right!"
"You're just waiting for your emotional attachment to someone we meet who then ends up in a fatal state." Galahad burst into laughter. Guess Brian wasn't the only funny one of his crew.
Uhh hi can I request a fic between Penelope and TS?? Basically TS mistakes Penelope for it's mother bcz it's made out of wood and she's a tree where wood comes from. (Optional: Penelope is kind of like a tree spirit/ghost stuck in a tree which is maybe how she's able to communicate with TS)
YES HI sorry it took me a while to answer this, vacation stuff got in the way "'^^
Purple — Penelope
Red — Toy "Mortius" Soldier
Black — Ashes "Hades" O'Reilly
"Ashes?" Mortius asked, staring at the vault door in front of them. "This is a pretty vault, certainly, but... Why have you taken me here?"
"You'll see once you get inside. There's a keypad to the left, you should be granted access if you enter Elysium. That's what Ulysses told me, anyway."
"Elysium... Understood!" It watched and waved as Ashes left it there, dissapearing back into the higher levels. "Elysium... What an interesting choice. E-L-Y..." It spelled out loud as it typed in the passcode. "...U-M! Elysium!" The vault door opened opened with a whir, allowing the nymph to peer inside at what revealed itself to be an oak tree. Bathed in a single ray of warm yellow sunlight, the branches and leaves looked almost heavenly against the metal walls that contained them. Not hard to understand the password.
A figure snapped her head towards Mortius as it opened the vault door. She was made entirely of wood, as though she'd been carved to honour someone's memory. She looked confused at the nymph standing before her, who stared back at her curiously. "... Hello!" Mortius broke the silence with a wave. "I'm sorry, who are you?"
"I'm Mortius!"
"Penelope."
"A-- Hades didn't tell me there would be another person in here?"
"Oh, you're with Hades."
"Well... Kind of?" Mortius started circling around the lady, taking in every hint and detail about her. "Hades brought me here and gave me the password, but they're back upstairs now, which means technically I'm with no one!" It stopped walking and turned to directly face Penelope, who now stood with crossed arms. "Say, Penelope, are you my mother?" If Penelope had had a drink, it would be in the grass. "Am I... Your mother?"
"Yes! Since you're made of wood and I'm made of wood and I've never met anyone else made of wood... Have you?"
"... I haven't."
"Exactly! And Tim always says 'If it looks like a hundred mice in a hat and smells like a hundred mice in a hat, it's probably a hundred mice in a hat!"
"That's oddly specific."
"Oh it's about an old pope that... Oh nevermind! What's important here is we're both made of wood!"
"We are, yes. But uh... Mortius, was it?"
"Yes!"
"If I have long, brown hair and I've never met anyone else with long, brown hair, does that mean you're my mother?"
"Well, no! That would be silly, Tim has long, brown hair too!"
"So then..."
"You're... Not my mother?"
"No, I'm not."
"Oh... Well then why did Hades bring me here?"
"Maybe they just wanted you to see the tree? I don't think anyone knows I'm here."
"That's a shame... You're very pretty!"
"Is that what you tell Hades too?"
"Well... Yes... But that's because they are! And so are you! And Dionysus and Persephone and Ulysses at the bar!"
"Dionysus, Persepho-- How many Olympians do you know??"
Hope I did it justice, this was really funny to write XD

Can you elaborate why Marius is The Flesh? I think he fits more with The Slaughter or The Corruption
OUGH that's so fair. I'll be so honest I wasn't entirely sure about Marius so I went mostly off of vibes there. But yeah Slaughter and/or Corruption probably fit better--
my basis for Marius beingl The Slaughter is because of his war background where he was hiding from the soldiers during an endless war on his planet and how he later destroyed the planet because he found mecha which he piloted and turned it into the weapon of mass destruction.
and The Corruption is due to his mechanism including a parasite that is essentially what gives him immortality and also his relation to diseases
That. is a lot better thought out. 👏

Not directly. Peel it off, crumble it and use it as seasoning!

(HONORARY) MECHANISMS HEADCANONS
Ulysses has a tendency to leave lights on. This was already mentioned in an earlier post BUT there's a good reason! I don't think there is a moment of darkness ever in the City. Therefore I think Ulysses is used to the constant light and doesn't really register that there's even a light to be turned off.
For the same reasons, I say they sleep with a nightlight.
Galahad will hardly ever call Brian by his actual name. He shifts most often between (variations of) Angel, Hanged Man and Merlin.
Brian doesn't mind.
Dionysus was the last of the Olympians to choose immortality, and looks older than the others because of it.
Speaking of Dionysus, Toy Soldier (if it wasn't clear from past writings) sees them as its father figure.
Besides Marius, of the crew, Lyff is most fond of Ulysses. Of the original crew they are most fond of Ashes.
Ulysses likes to read. Anything and everything. It's a hobby they picked up from Ashes after joining the crew, though Ulysses reads far more than Ashes does.
Briar has some of Rose's memories before being cloned, but they're patchy and faded. She remembers that she was once in love and she remembers the vague outlines of her appearance, but the details didn't make it.
Pink — Dionysus
Red — Toy "Mortius" Soldier
"Mortius! I'm home." The nymph jumped to his side, taking his jacket and bag. "Pour me a glass, will you?"
"Tea?"
"Earl gray."
"Anything with it?"
"Add gin." Mortius hung their coat on the rack and unpacked the bag, then, halfway to the kitchen, paused. "Rough day?"
"Quite. You won't believe how rude they were today, Mortius. Treating my poor nymphs like nobodies. They've gone through enough of that already, those customers oughtta start realising that without them there would be no Calypso's, no Golden Fountain, no Jardin Delicieux, there would be no fun in the city!"
"Right you are! Who are they to disrespect us?"
"Exactly." The Olympian took his liquor tea, sipped it, then took a good look at Mortius. He tilted his head slightly, then set down his drink and gestured for the nymph to sit next to him. "Sweet Mortius, what happened to you?"
"My..?" Dio held a mirror up for it, allowing it to see the charred, blackened half of its face. It brought its hand up to touch the damage, then flinched more from the texture than from the pain. "My dear, what did he do to you?"
"Well... Well it's alright! He's... He died! In the same explosion! And I'm still alive!"
"Just the death of the culprit does not negate pain for the victim, Mortius."
"I know, sir, but... But if I admit that then I admit that what hurts me most is...
you."
The Toy Soldier jolted from its pillow, eyes darting around the room to register its surroundings. It was at Ivy's place, it remembered, she'd allowed it to sleep on her couch since her friend had blown up its circus. It was at that point that it noticed Ivy standing frozen in front of the tv, coffee mug in hand.
Red — Toy "Nikola" Soldier
Purple — Ivy
Green — Jon
"So this is the Magnus Institute!" Nikola smiled as it walked through the front doors, led by Ivy. "Yes, yes, but keep your voice down, you did kidnap--"
"What is she doing here?"
"... Jon."
"Archivist! Good to see you." It waved, ignoring how obviously scared he was. "I-- I thought you'd died! In the explosion!"
"The real Nikola probably would have!"
"... What do you mean the real Nikola?"
"Oh! Yes! I'm--"
"Jon?"
"What??"
"You'd like a statement about the crew, right?"
"... Sure??"
A little while later, Nikola sat across from Jon in his office. More than a little uncomfortable, Jon focused his attention on how she looked compared to the last time they'd met. Half of her face was burnt away and in her hair there hung the remains of burnt and molten hair and hairspray. Whatever may have been left of the ringmaster outfit had been abandoned for a simple button-up and tie outfit. "So... Why are you pretending to be Ivy's crew mate?"
"Oh, no, Archivist, I am! I was pretending to be Nikola, but I am the Toy Soldier!"
"The Toy Soldier?"
"Yes!"
"And... You can actually give a statement about this crew?"
"Yes, though quite a lot of it would be second hand! There are a few millennia's worth of events I wasn't quite present for..."
"... I'm still not sure you're not pretending."
"Would it help if I removed the plastic?"
"I... Suppose?" The Toy Soldier nodded and brought its hands to the half-face of plastic and skin it had left, cracking it and peeling it off to reveal its wooden face beneath. Underneath the remaining plastic, its face seemed to have been preserved from the explosion.

Dare I say Odin from The BiFrost Incident
Can... Can you maybe write abt Hades and Penelope meeting pls? Perchance... And maybe Penelope is a bit of a tsundere bcz she knows that Hades/Ashes kinda has a romance with Ulysses?? Perchance??
Oh my... Absolutely.
Purple — Penelope
Red — Hades
Penelope cleared her throat as she approached Hades, who was sitting in a leather chair next to the Acheron. They were reading a book, as though they weren't sitting next to the minds of the uncountable dead of all the city. They were used to getting visits from people, especially people seeking to gain something. So they didn't put their book down when she walked in.
"Hades." The woman demanded their attention, leading to them looking up at her. "That is you, isn't it?"
"Yes. What do you need?"
She seemed to hesitate. "Is there any way I can stay away from you and the Acheron?"
"You want immortality? D'you have the funds?"
"No, I--"
"I should have know you'd jump to your profits, honestly." She muttered under her breath, failing to escape Hades anyway. "Do you think there's another way then? Without paying off the ferryman to leave you alone?"
"Well... My spouse. Ulysses. They've visited you before, haven't they?"
"Oh. You're Penelope?"
"Yes. They've told you about me?"
"All good things."
"Well I should hope so, I'm their wife."
"Right. Anyways. You didn't come here for Ulysses, I assume they would've gone themselves."
"Yes, well, about that. They keep disappearing. Into the lower levels. Ever since they visited you, ever since they asked you about a death away from the Acheron, they've been spending hours and hours down there. And I need to know why."
"Have you asked Ulysses?"
"Can't get a clear answer. Just tells me it's a project of theirs."
"Huh. I thought they'd tell you."
"Tell me what?? What's going on between you two that I don't know about?!"
"Okay." Hades finally put down their book and rose from their chair, moving to stand face to face with Penelope. They put a hand on her shoulder, which was brushed off. "First of all: calm down. I assure you, there's nothing serious between me and Ulysses. Second: if they won't tell you, then it's not my place to either. But it's nothing bad."
Penelope stayed silent, biting her lip as she looked into Hades' sunglasses. Eventually she reached a hand up and removed the pair, allowing her to look properly into Hades' eyes. "... I'm not convinced."
"Why is that? You think the one in charge of the dead is attractive? Enough so to tempt your spouse? Or do you just think lowly of Ulysses?"
"I do not think lowly of them! I just think it's... It's interesting that they spend so much time away now."
"Sure. Well... you got the answer to your question: I can't help you. Can I have my sunglasses back?"
"... Alright. You look better when I can't see your eyes anyway."
"Sure I do."
Hades showed Penelope the way out, as despite living as an Olympian, Hades' chambers could be a labyrinth of their own. At the exit, Penelope sized Hades up one more time before turning to leave.
Inspector Edda was never a mean or angry man. Cold, sure, but never ill-intentioned. Unless you pissed them off.
They didn't have many friends, didn't feel the need to. Only hurt when they left.
So imagine his surprise when at the end of the universe, another escaping ship swallowed Lyff's. It was absolutely massive, with moon-like exterior, reminding Lyff of the times he'd unwillingly overheard Ivy talk about the origins of the Aurora. The thought was interrupted by someone banging on the door to his ship. Opening it would reveal Marius standing in the doorway, fist still raised. "Von Raum? What do you wa--"
"I don't want anything, inspector! But you're not gonna survive the end of the universe stuffed in a ship like that!"
"... What's wrong with my ship??"
"Can't time travel, can it?"
When Briar woke from her slumber, her gaze fell to the people standing in front of her. They didn't introduce themselves, didn't say a word. Just cleared the way for her to go.
And so she did, killing hundreds on her way out and hundreds more past that. When the battle was over and there were no more soldiers left, she turned to see one of the two approach her. The woman now introduced herself as Nastya Rasputina, the engineer of the starship Aurora. She introduced her previous companion as Jonny d'Ville, Aurora's first mate. She claimed there were more people on that ship, but didn't think it mattered to introduce them as she would either meet them soon enough or never have the chance to.
It was at this point Nastya gave her a choice. She could stay here, thought Nastya had no idea was that might bring for her. Or she could join Nastya and her crew on their journey through space, guarantying her stories of interest, friends among the crew and complete autonomy the moment they landed on a new planet.
It wasn't hard to pick which one. The Briar Rose didn't know how to fly a spaceship or navigate the stars and there was nothing left for her here. So why wouldn't she join Nastya? And besides that, it could server as sort of a thank you for waking her up.
When Ulysses stumbled into that vault they should have died. Their tale says so, as the Mechanisms quite literally labeled it 'Ulysses Dies at Dawn'.
But as it turns out, between the years of drowning sorrows and the deaths of the four suits and Hephaestus, they had made quite a name for themselves.
That is to ignore their remaining possession of the eye of the Cyclops. So it shouldn't have been that surprising when a wooden hand stopped the vault door from closing. When they turned their head to the side, they saw Hades, Persephone and a nymph walk in. Persephone they recognised from posters and news articles around the City, the nymph they'd seen serve at their favourite bar.
As the blood and life force drained slowly from their body, they watched the three whisper among themselves, catching flards of 'Ulysses' and 'tree' and 'help them'.
And then Persephone walked up the oak tree they'd fought to protect and injected something into it. "There is beauty in death," she told them. "But you knew that."
Whatever she injected, it made the tree sprout like wildfire. The earth beneath them grumbled and shook from the force of the ever expanding roots until something pierced Ulysses' chest. They watched in mixed fear and curiosity as the root now growing through their ribcage wrapped around them, growing leaves and branches. Slowly the growing came to a stop. The nymph, who had been watching curiously up until this point, drew a blade and cut Ulysses free. The cut end of the root grew to a close around their arm.
Hades stepped forward and reintroduced themselves as Ashes O'Reilly, introducing Persephone and the nymph as Raphaella la Cognizi and the Toy Soldier respectively. They explained that after seeing a peer like Hephaestus venture into lower levels like these, they had gathered the allies they knew the locations of to go check it out. With the suggestion they help Ulysses survive. And to help them get off the planet they loathed.
Galahad laughed as the turrets ran dry and his blood pooled on the floor. He watched, still standing, as the Pendragons approached the final door to the GRAIL. He had fulfilled his mission as sent by God.
And then someone kicked down the door behind him. He couldn't find the strength to turn, but my the sound of metal clashing against metal, it wasn't hard to guess.
And so it was to no surprise that when Galahad finally collapsed, he was caught by a brass man. The Hanged Man himself. He tried to ask Merlin how he'd gotten free and all the way to Galahad in the time that he had, but even if the prophet hadn't shushed him, the bits of blood and bone he coughed up would have.
Just then the sun flickered and brightened, casting Merlin in rays of golden light. The Hanged Man was no mere prophet, Galahad knew then, he was a saviour. A metal angel sent my God.
And that metal angel gave Galahad the strength and determination to hold on as Merlin carried him all the way through Camelot, all the way through Annwn, onto another ship, where he was laid to rest.
He would wake up the next day with the Hanged Man, who's name now clearly read Brian, sitting beside his bed.
Thought I'd write a bit about how each honorary Mechanism joined the crew! I feel like I did better with Galahad and Ulysses than the other two "'o.o
So I just relistened to the BiFrost album after quite some time and I feel the need to specify that in my writings, I refer to the DTTM version of Lyffrasir. I love BiFrost, I really do, but in all honesty I just prefer the vibe of Death's version of BiFrost and it's characterisation of Lyffrasir. They say mostly the same things, make mostly the same remarks, but BiFrost!Lyffrasir feels like an ice queen and Death!Lyffrasir feels like a wet cat. I like the wet cat.

Lyffrasir has brought in an artifact he thinks might be connected to what we do here. I think he's trying to distract me. He assured me it was harmless when he put it directly on my desk and told me to take a look. It looks to be a black box, though I've never heard of 'the Ratatosk express'. It also appears to belong to someone by the name of Odin. A name I've only ever heard in Norse mythology. Besides the labels, the thing itself looks to be tampered with by a child who likes gears and thought it their canvas.
[He pauses, then sighs.]
But Lyff has proven to be trustworthy and thorough in his research and besides that I'm sure there's a good reason he works with the police.

[Jon sounds softer now.]
I've looked through the recordings. Lyffrasir, he... He wasn't joking. The... The things it's captured, they're... Disturbing. It starts off fine, just... Just fine and then two people interfere with what should be the engine, but is some sort of ritual. And then... The whole thing changes to all sorts of colours and shades and everyone is stretched and and twisted and merged into eachother and ripped to shreds and there is not a single survivor. All in the train is blood and horrors beyond my understanding. And Odin, or who I assume to be Odin, sits at the head of the train, in her carriage, as she warps away until she's unrecognisable. I-- I don't know how Lyffrasir handed this to me so calmly. I assume they've looked through it themselves and-- And... The colours... The colours in the train remind me of their... That doesn't matter. I'll... Talk to Lyff about this.
