Literally the most self indulgent thing to my little autistic brain but I wish most planets in starbound were barren, that finding the special one was much more rewarding and less of a chore that it is in the base game parsing through so many planets to find the one with the right structure or biome, if my hatred of fracking universe gets me to finally learn starbound modding I might do something with this
it wouldn't help the 'more barren planets' thing, but IIRC there's a 'more planet info' mod. never used it so IDK how good it is, but it might help with finding the biomes you're after?
More Planet Info is a great mod, I do recommend it (with the update patches for Bounty Hunter and Lush Planets).
However, the mod OP wants might be RealSpace, which merges TrueSpace and Barren Universe to create a galaxy where 1. planet type is determined by distance from the star and 2. habitable planets are greatly reduced.
That said, I always encourage learning to mod Starbound out of spite towards Frackin Universe.
Starbound basically did the equivalent of dumping him by the roadside in the rain in a soggy cardboard box, so I guess that means I'm free to take him home and designate him as my honorary OC. Greenfinger (the individual), oh Greenfinger (the individual). You're a horrible person and the universe would be better off without you, but you're also a phenomenal character and the story would've been better with you.
A tiny Kevin as a token of appreciation for Frackin Universe reinstating the beta codices. And to cover an empty spot.
It's great that now I can have as many as two morally challenged scientists. One is in Big Ape's DMs, the other is in Big Ape's walls; both are a walking testament that some people should've never been allowed in STEM
also leaves now can fall from trees and BIRCH HAS A NEW FLOWER
and look at these dead leaves
go check out the snapshot because their is also a lot of stuff to do with mob drops for spawners and piglins! As well as new loadstone recipe, new iron sound, and pale oak mansions!
For those who can't read the Blog Description (I hope it's working, but if it isn't)- My name's Ender! I'm a game developer, who works independently on my own passion projects when I can, and currently on the search for more stable work besides my part-time job.
And this- Is the blog that's going to document my development journey while making a species mod for Starbound!
I've already made a lot of progress on the creatures, but, it's come to my attention that I need to get the word out on these little creatures- And moreover, get some feedback and interaction from the entire community on it!
I'm hopeful that one day, this mod might be as great as some of the other species mods I've seen out there- With fully-fleshed-out concepts of the Ryophi and their place in the universe, furniture, and other little, fun details!
Also, to share a bit of information about these snake-creatures, I added a bit of info on them, below the Keep Reading line!
The Ryophi are a species of snake-like creatures with humanoid upper torsos. From a biological perspective, they are capable of breathing in thermal energy, exhaling air much colder than before, through the gaps in their scales. They are, on average, twice the length of a human, but stand approximately as tall. Humidity is a minor danger to these species, having originated from a very hot, dry planet. In the past, Ryophi used to get hydration from processing liquid methane that naturally occurred on their planet, until their introduction to the intergalactic civilization beyond the borders of their planet, where- With the introduction of water- They found a much easier way to sustain their hydration, though still retain the ability to process gas.
Historical records of the Ryophi show that, a century or so before the creation of space-age technology and their introduction into the greater galaxies, they had suffered a war amongst themselves, created by a biological divide- Some Ryophi were born with fur, and others with scales, and eventually, a leader among the furred Ryophi spurred the ebbs of war, and created a terraforming device that turned a portion of their home planet into a winter wasteland, where the furred Ryophi congregated. Despite the tensions of war, however, Ryophi came to care for one another too much to let such a divide prevent unity among their people, and the war was soon called off.
The Ryophi treasure many things that some other species may take for granted- From water, to art, to little friendships. They are known to be keen on learning everything they can, whether about culture, skills, or knowledge of the world.
people who minecraft, is there a way to regenerate my world but keep my builds? the chunk deleter thingie i found might result in weird terrain and i kinda like the current layout, but also atm9 has some new generation rules that i'd like implemented
or does the chunk deleter keep the general biome loadout? does it create entirely new biomes too? if i keep a desert temple will random plains biome generate around it? help please :"D
When it comes to modded stuff, the only way to be sure is to try.
In vanilla Minecraft, biome layout is determined by the seed and remains consistent for the most part even when new biomes are added. No, I don't know how this works, but I know a world generated in 1.18 looks the same as a world generated in 1.20 with the exception of some swamps being mangroves.
However, some mods do not work this consistently. I can't seem to find the list of mods in ATM9, but I know Oh The Biomes You'll Go has, at least in the past, had the problem of its biome generation being inconsistent between different worlds using the same seed.
I would say back up your world and try trimming with MCA Selector to see what happens. If it messes up the world, load the backup and save your builds in a blueprint mod like Litematica to port over to a new world.
You'd think the hardest thing to draw sprites for in this game is the torsos-
After all, like, it's the most content, right? The characters have a lotta torso and you gotta draw over it for the armor and such-
Not so! The torso's spritesheets are actually quite simple, as there are only 5 or so states the torso could be in- Idle, walking, swimming, jumping/falling, and crouched.
It's the fucking ARMS that are hard to sprite- Because they have 35 individual frames that are used for their animation.
and THAT can get tiresome, to stare at hands you've already drawn for a species and keep drawing the same thing but at slightly different angles-
It's all good for the smoothness of the animations, but from an artist's perspective it can feel a little monotonous-
