I’m mysticartist, but you can also call me mystic. My pronouns are they/he. I’m in so many fandoms but my prominent ones right now are Critical Role, Dimension 20, and Danganronpa.

it did not. it is public knowledge the slave trade worked like this

and in fighting antiblackness within canada and europe it is so so so important to acknowledge these places's participation in and benefit from the transantlantic slave trade. Slavery is not just the US's dirty past, it is a triangular industry lasting centuries that white people in the united states, canada, and europe benefitted from and continue to benefit from to this day. Slavery was good for white canadians and white europeans. They liked it. they encouraged it. they had slaves, they profited from the slave trade, and they used products grown from US slave labour in every day life. The slavery of Black people would not have been possible on the sheer scale at which it happened if it were not for active, consistent participation from europe and canada.

Thinking of Halandil Fang at the end of Convergence this morning. Thinking of the fact he has two more bodies to bury so soon after burying his own brother.

Do you think with the burden of burying Teor and Cyd, Hal is wondering who will bury him? Will he be next? Will his next of kin have to deal with his burial much like he did his own brother?

Did he ever think he would have to bury his own brother like this? Did he ever think about burying his brother’s friends so soon after his brother?

Just something about Halandil’s house becoming the place to bring fallen brethren is weighing heavy on my mind.

Okay re: the previous post this is not as quippy so I understand but I keep laughing because like, it's not only your old friend's punkass kid. It's more specifically like, your wife's formerly tagalong little cousin you knew at like 11, who grew into a punkass teenager with an attitude who successfully SWAT-ed your ass because you and your wife had a fight. This has probably been said before but fuck it, I’ll say it. Orpheus’ inability to recognize Eurydice’s anguish in Chant mirrors Hades’ inability in Hadestown. They both work on a project, thinking it’ll keep the woman they love around, but it ends up pushing them away from them.

The parallels between the two hurt my brain and heart.

I didn’t know until watching the proshot of Hadestown that Hades was holding back tears in the Epic III segment of the show (or somewhere around there, I can’t remember). When I watched the touring group version of the show live (which was incredible), I couldn’t pick up on that detail since I was in the nosebleeds pretty much. Even if that isn’t a choice most Hades actors make during their productions, I’m so glad Patrick Page made that one (whether voluntary or not) because I’m still thinking about it 3 days later
