Petition to put a moratorium on USians practising Christianity for a solid decade so the rest of us can regain some semblance of normality.

The reason I have a great relationship with religion and faith is that it has always been an inclusive space for me. I didn't grow up in a church where I was told to shrink myself or that I was less important than a man in God's design. I grew up with female clergy, queer clergy, people from all walks of life in the congregation, and a message of deep love and community.

I'm now considering formal discernment and I hope that if I do continue, that is the kind of ministry I'll get to carry on.

If you disagree with 90% of the things Jesus preached, you're not a Christian. I feel like that's kind of obvious but apparently this is difficult for US Christians to comprehend.

Reminder to religious cishet women in particular:

You are not required to make yourself smaller or take on the sins of men

Their path is their own responsibility, your suffering for the sake of an entitled manchild does not make you more holy no matter what they tell you

Suffering for the sake of humanity, to protect the weak and disenfranchised or to stand up for justice is holy.

Suffering because a man thinks it's his right to cheat on you and be forgiven for it because that's what a "godly woman" does is not holy. Suffering because a man can't control his lust and makes it your fault because you're somehow not meeting some arbitrary modesty standard is not holy. That's religious abuse and you have the right to be treated better.

You are not a stumbling block. You are not a cross upon which men can hang their sins.

You are a full person, a child of God. You are a human being with value beyond what you can do for a man. You are an equal among all souls.
