From Low Waisted to High Waisted

Throughout all of fashion history, trends have come and gone, repeated, adapted, and modified. Specific items, such as Converse, have made appearances and reappearances, and then certain styles have done so the same.

Not too long ago, low waisted jeans and apparel were not only very trendy, but coveted for their sexual appeal. Now, not many years after, the masses are leaning more toward historical "classiness" with Marilyn Monroe styles and sexual appearance. High waisted shorts, pants, and skirts, matched up with crop tops of course, are making a statement.

High waisted shorts and pants have exchanged the peeps of naked skin and their allure (from the low waisted/cut), to covering most or all of the midriff. However, with that, many shorts and pants are body conforming which makes a fair trade of sexual appeal - not as revealing, however still teasing. Covering the naked skin gives off a sense of classyness and self preservation, even though, let's face it, not many of the trend followers are so innocent.

If for some reason you cannot possibly follow today's trend, don't fret, because tomorrow yesterday's style will be back in play.

Individualism : Single

To be an individual, doesn't always mean you have to be single. And being single, doesn't always mean that you are acting as an individual.

It's important to be an individual for our mental health, as well as social. When you are in a relationship, yes, you do not always only speak for yourself anymore (and you are also "spoken for"), however, it's healthy to keep your own interests. It's good to learn how to stand on your own and be strong as a single person first, before being part of couple. If you try to find your strength through significant others or friends, it could become a handicap for you in the future. I believe these kinds of people are the ones that constantly find themselves in a relationship, and if not, they don't know how to deal with themselves alone.

If you are in a relationship, some simple ways to be an individual while still a good partner, is to read books that interest you, be active in your hobbies, and (if you're only dating) not to see each other every single minute of every single day. Distance does make the heart grow fonder.

And in this way, you can also create some mystery and interest, other than "How was your day at work?" You will have your own share of interests and stories to contribute.

Being alone shouldn't be a disability, it should be a strength. Finding peace in yourself and then being able to share it with someone you care about is much better than needing to be with anybody just for your subconscious selfishness. Being an individual even with a relationship will also give you peace of mind from the possibility of future identity crises.

You don't need anyone to define who you are as a person. And not needing anyone for this doesn't exactly mean you won't need anyone period, but that you can better enjoy someone's company by wanting, not needing them for your sanity.
