Astrology (from the Greek word áźĎĎĎοΝογίι, â áźĎĎĎον, âstarâ, and -Νογίι, "study of"), has been around since at least the 2nd millennium BCE. Although it is not considered a science nowadays, the movements and relative positions of planets and stars still fascinate us. Many people believe they influence both our personality and future events â and it is more complex than the horoscopes on magazines that tell you anything far from coherent.
If you want to start studying Astrology, the first thing you should do is find your natal chart. There is plenty of webs out there on the Internet, but the one I use is Astro Dienst because it has a huge variety of options that allow you to adapt your natal chart to Traditional Astrology.
Whether you believe or not in the effects celestial bodies, here is a brief description of what every planet in Traditional Astrology means:
The Sun (â): Yes, I know, the Sun is a star, I did pass Science FYI. However, Astrology calls astronomical bodies âplanetsâ. Going on: Heliosâ planet represents the ego, power, success, glory, creativity⌠The Sun is the star that illuminates and warms our planet, so it is the reason life exists. Everyone knows their Sun sign, even if they are not into Astrology âso if someone tells you they are a Leo, that must be their Sun sign.
The Moon (â˝): Anyone who is into Witchcraft or New Age stuff might have a special connection with our satellite. It represents our deep emotions, fluctuations, the mother, unconscious habits⌠Selene, Artemis and Hekate are the mysterious Queens of the Night (and you want to be like them).
Mercury (âż): You know Hermes (AKA Mercury), the Messenger of the Gods wearing winged-shoes? So his planet represents all kinds of communication, rationality, sciences, tripsâŚ
Venus (â): *sings Bananaramaâs âVenusâ* Aphrodite is the Goddess of love and beauty. Therefore, our neighbour planet represents all of that. Also, what is considered âfeminineâ, women and the mother.
Mars (â): Do you know this lad who is always so loud, fit â and aggressive in a way? He is behaving like Mars, the God of War *insert blood and a Greek Guy screaming âThis is Sparta!â*. He represents violence, anger and competitiveness. It is one of the malefic planets (you will know more about that term soon if you keep on learning about Traditional Astrology). I hate when people associate Mars with sexuality. Sex and violence MUST NOT go together, as that means rape and sexual abuse âthis is one of the reasons why I quitted Modern Astrology.
Jupiter (â):Â Zeusâplanet AKA The Greater Benefic represents moderation, temperance, justice, religion, wealth, freedom and morality.Â
Saturn (â): Old Father Time or The Greater Malefic represents death, loneliness, malevolence, falls, the father, land, austerity and poverty. Modern Astrology took all the negative aspects away from the coldest of all the 7 Traditional Planets. In spite of all that positiveness, darkness still exists in our lives, so we must not forget it.
I hope you enjoyed this really short summary! Astrology is an ensemble of really sophisticated methods. So you can not say much in such few words. If interest has sparked in you, start doing your research! You will only learn and achieve success if you go for it creating your own path.
Happy Halloween/Samhainđ! Today is the perfect day for divination, communicating with spirits and passed ones... So, you know, a witch's got to do what a witch's got to do đŽ
Hekate is the Greek goddess of witchcraft, magick, necromancy, crossroads and spirits. She helped Demeter guiding her with the light of her two torch during the search of Persephone. Owner of the Cerberus. Usually represented as a triple goddess.
âHeart as cold as iceâ Not winter anymore, but this picture reminds me of autumn and it, which are my favourite seasons. But nature is cyclic, so they will be here again soon... (Used celestite/celestine)
đI have to admit my unhealthy obsession with titanium aura quartz. I hope I can get new Auras soon. Is there any particular crystal that makes you go insane?đ
Went to the forest this morning, where you can feel Natureâs forces and spirits run free. I was able to take some pictures. For this one, I used rose quartz and three âRider-Waiteâ Tarot cards: âThe Starâ, âThe High Priestessâ and âThe Empressâ.
