âOKAY, but hear me out, if you really think about it, i donât feel like dancinâ by the scissor sisters is a crime,â roman enthused, gesturing pointedly, somehow walking backwards and turning corners all whilst managing not to knock into any walls. âhow dare they make a song about not wanting to dance thatâs so catchy and danceable? it should NOT BE ALLOWED.âÂ
( in moments like this, of course, it would be fun to remember that roman ridley was employed by a covert government organisation outranking the fbi. sadly, few people know in the first place in order to remember. )
Jasper waved a red Twizzler around in the air as Roman walked and he followed behind with wide eyes. Exactly what she was blabbering about, he wasnât entirely sure. All he knew was that she was passionate about this topic and his Twizzlers tasted amazing. Something about the red candy strips somehow made Jasper feel like the happiness person ever. âWould you hate me,â Jasper started as he pointed his Twizzler at Roman. âIf I said that Iâve never actually heard that some before in my life?â A true statement. Perhaps a sad statement.Â
He hadnât grown up with music in his defense, heâd really only listened to the radio when one of his friends happened to be playing it.
Pulling out his phone to check the time for perhaps the eighth time in the row, he huffed ( only a handful of minutes had passed since heâd last looked ). Pocketing the device once more, hazel orbs flickered over to the rooms other current occupant. âI need some fresh air before I go insane.â He muttered. âHow do you feel about grabbing an early lunch in town?â It would give them both some time to stretch their legs and get out of the cramped room ( a break from thinking about the seventeen names that had undoubtedly been at the forefront of both their minds for the past two weeks ).
Without waiting for an answer, the man logged out of his computer before standing and heading in the direction of the door. âCome on Lobeke. Iâm sure whatever youâre working on can wait until we get back.â
Jasper almost didnât hear the words directed at him but theyâd found their way into his ears and past all the chaotic science mess trying to piece everything together. A puzzle with more and more questions with each passing day. But an early lunch? That could pull Jasper out of his trance â his growling stomach for the last hour certainly agreed. Jasper pushed away from his desk, chair wheeling away before he stood up and quickly hit the keys to lock his computer. âYouâre speaking my language, Iâm coming!â Jasper hurriedly tried to get his stuff together â only not realizing that his ID got stuck in the top drawer, the retractable cord yanking on him in protest.Â
âShit, shit, wait!â With a groan of frustration, he got the ID free and ran his way over to catch up to Theo. âI was actually trying to see if it would be feasible to send a little robot out into the fog. Capture some photographs or video.â
Rag in hand, Avianna meticulously dried a glass ( holding it up to the light every once in a while as if it has somehow smudged within the past moment or two ). It was rather a pointless task, but the bar had been relatively quiet ( as it always was at the start of her shift ) and her dedication to cleaning each glass seemed to be a distraction from her missing twin than anything else ( not that she would admit it if anyone asked ).
Eyes raising at the sound of a stool being pulled out, she flashed a smile in greeting ( glass abandoned on the counter and rag thrown over her shoulder ). âWell arenât you a sight for sore eyes. What can I getcha?â
Unsurprising, Jasper found himself in circles trying to keep his mind occupied. Sometimes that happened â always had since he was a child â Jasper couldnât quite keep his brain from going a bit stir-crazy unless he was intently focusing on something. And right now, thereâs nothing. Sure, there was a list of projects stuck to the fridge by an old insurance magnet but he had none of the supplies to do them. And while there was a ridiculous amount of work that he could be doing â heâs almost positive that if he went to the office and Roman or Theo found out, Jasper would end up in another lecture about not working too much. Which heâd only point out they all are guilty of doing. So he had to go somewhere. Thatâs how he ended up pulling out a stool, smiling at Avi with a soft smile. âHey now, just cause Iâve been shut away for a few day doesnât mean itâs been that long,â Jasper started with a chuckle. âBut letâs make it a surprise today, a drink of chance! Close our eyes and pick out one of the beers.â He pointed toward the beer tap.

 â Jasper Lobeke ⢠Thirty three ⢠Pine Haven ⢠Fish and Wildlife Chapter â
hello hello! iâm stella, 24, she/her pronouns please, and in the cst. this is my lil sweetheart bumpkin wanna be named jasper. heâs honestly a peach who really needs someone to help keep him on track and now just a general mess with life. this man may be smart but one look at his desk and youâll know he needs HELP!!
And so, I give you wonderful Jasper:
â  x . Jasper grew up a lost city boy with his older brother Julian and his younger sister June. The three of them were raised by their grandmother since their mother worked three jobs in order to take care of them. Always a doting mother whenever she was home, her presence was still missed as the Lobeke siblings grew up. Jasper had always been quiet, lost in a big world that felt a little too much for him sometimes.
â Â x . When he was around ten years old, he found his passion for science in the way of a science fair project. Thinking back on it now, it had been a silly project about the differences in leaves produced from the same tree. But little Jasper found a love for research and science books. His teachers were more than happy to supply him the books and heâd spend his lunches asking all sorts of questions.
â Â x . Always someone who floated in the middle, Jasper never really fit in anywhere. He had friends in every clique when high school came around. The skaters, the jocks, the nerds... Jasper had always been someone who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone which came as a shock to some considering how quiet he could be sometimes. He had three best friends that he would have done anything with - ride or die besties.
â Â x . After high school, it was almost a given that he would continue on to college. He ended up with a full ride to Stanford University after working tirelessly all during his years in high school. He wanted to continue studying science, exploring the world around him and the fascinating nuances. His brother Julian had encouraged him, stayed up late nights to help him study even if heâd never been the one with the smarts.
â Â x . Leaving his siblings behind in the East coast had been hard, but Jasper thrived in college as he dedicated himself to Biology. It was through a few different projects that he found his love for genetics and zoology. It was also during his undergraduate that Jasper found his next love. Her name had been Georgia, a southern beauty who was sweet as could be and studying music. The two of them met at a party and it wasnât much longer before they were going on dates and in a relationship.
â Â x . But all good things come to an end, a sad truth that Jasper learned. After graduation, heâd proposed to Georgia and the two of them had planned for a long engagement as Jasper continued to graduate school and Georgia started her job with a symphony. Flowers always brought home on the weekends, dinner date nights, Jasper always did his best to make sure he made time for Georgia and her needs. What he hadnât anticipated was for her to fall in love with one of her fellow symphony members.
â Â x . A broken heart and a new apartment later, Jasper found himself on his own. He finished out his graduate program and while he intended to continue on to get his doctorate, he sought after jobs first. He bounced around between a few different research assistant jobs and projects, climbing his way up in notoriety as he published papers and quickly became lead scientist for many projects. Eventually Jasper was reached out by a part of the government, if thatâs what you want to call them. Secretive. Lucrative. And the possibilities to see things heâs never seen before? It wasnât much of a job description, but Jasper needed something new.
â Â x . So six months ago he found him assigned to Pine Haven under the guise of the âFish and Wildlifeâ chapter. It was a different world, working with agents who seemed far too serious and Jasper couldnât help but think in the beginning that everyone was a little too crazy. Sure, heâd been debriefed but maybe everyone just didnât know what they were looking at. It only took a month for Jasper to realize that no, there was something very strange happening in Pine Haven.
â  x . Heâs made himself a little home in Pine Haven. He bought himself a little house in the town, old and a little beat up but nothing a new paint job couldnât fix. When he isnât working at work, Jasperâs usually found working on his little home and trying to make something of it. He has a list of projects to accomplish, but Jasper is far from a handyman and trying to learn how to do everything he needs has been interesting to say the least.
â  x . At the core, Jasper is very much a gentleman who is just trying to do his best in the world. But donât be fooled. While heâs smart and easy to talk to, Jasperâs forgetful and impulsive. Heâs a cluttered mess and thatâs easily noticeable by looking at his desk alone. He navigates his world with post-it notes and little reminders for himself. Jasper also has a tendency to zero focus in on something and it takes a lot to pull his attention away.
â Â x . As heâs only been here for six months heâs open to anything new for plots or connections! I do imagine he does have some friends by now and the below would also be cool to see:
Neighbor
Breakfast/Coffee Buddy
Handyman Helper or Just a friend to help? Please someone show this man how to fix things and not break his entire house
Science Nerds!! Someone just geek out with him please
