"FIGHT!"
Pics from my first judo tournament this weekend. I fought in two divisions: masters and senior novice. I went 0-2 in masters, but no real regrets there. In senior novice I took second place winning three straight even after my toe started looking like a grape. I think joining judo was a great idea and I am thankful that my wife bought me the groupon that started it all.
No longer legal in sport judo. Wawawa
GD Access
Dear Microsoft, Thank you for making a product that is nearly incoherent. You made Microsoft SQL server management studio, which is awesome, but instead I am forced to use it's rejected baby brother MS Access. Why couldn't you utilize the same form of SQL that so many other DBMSs use? Would it have been that hard? I despise everything MS Access chooses to be. PS the front end GUI is crap

Huh. No results.

Spring Tournament
I'm 1 week away from the spring judo tournament and I am beyond psyched. It's been a long time since I have done something like this. I quit wrestling after my junior year and have always felt like I didn't leave it all on the mat. Now (14 years later) I am back to competing in grappling with some major differences. 1) I'm literally in the best shape of my life. 2) I have no fear of letting anyone down if I lose, it maybe a novice bracket but I am going to go out there like it is the Grand Prix. 3 weeks ago I decided I was going to drop to a different weight class -73kg. At one point that meant dropping 15lbs. As of today I am only 3lbs over and feel as healthy as an ox. I may not be the most skilled, only having 1:5 months of judo under my belt but my strength and speed will hopefully help me out. Hajime!

February 23rd 1994 - Super Street Fighter II Turbo
The fifth, and last, arcade installment of Street Fighter II was released in 1994. This version introduced several new play mechanics to the game system from the previous Street Fighter II installments, including the addition of powered-up Special Moves called Super Combos.
Street Fighter II has become the game that Capcom releases on every platform and they usually release a modified version of this specific Street Fighter II. In 2008 it was renamed Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for the HD release on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
I never thought it would actually be coming to this. Weighing out every meal, compiling macros and calorie counts. Right now my life is all about prep work. Whether it is prepping meals (which seems never ending) or prepping for the gym, it is pretty constant. I'm beyond stoked that my wife has taken this as an opportunity to make new and healthy meals for me. 9lbs still seems like quite a bit, but will give me a great chance at winning a match or two.
I had a nice talk with Carlos Carvalho last night. He is in charge of all of the regional, national, and qualifying events for the next ADCC. Those of you who are not familiar with ADCC it is the Olympics of submission grappling. I’m very excited about Carlos’s dedication to put on well organized professional events. There is a national event April 6th, in NY. This is a great chance to get used to competing under ADCC rules. This is not the qualifier for ADCC, as this is the national event and not North American trials. However, there are both pro and amateur divisions. Should be a great event, I plan on entering the pro division. #adcc #grappling #wrestling #olympics #jiujitsu #nationals
So....awesome.
This week was something called ken geiko. It is a way for all the judoka to go train at other dojos and meet new people. It was def and amazing experience to have so many guys my weight to roll with. Because of this new exposure I've decided that I am going to try to cut down to 160 by tourney time on March. This leaves me roughly 3 weeks to cut 9lbs. I know it's not a healthy thing to do but after seein the 185+ guys that will cut to the weight class if currently be in, I think it's the right move. I haven't done anything like his since the high school wrestling days and even then it wasn't that much. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it Which has me dressing a bit. I've cut 6 over the last 3 weeks and considering I was sick this week, it's not bad. We will just have to go for it and see what happens.
Am I a judoka now?
I've been trying to drop 5lbs for judo purposes. Right now I have been working on 1500 calories gross per day. My fitness pal has been extremely helpful with me over assuming my consumption and underestimating my output. In two weeks I have lost close to there lbs which is awesome. Furthermore it's helped me see how shitty i really was eating before. For the bad news...5 lbs really isn't going to do it. The next lowest weight class is at 160 which would mean 15 total lbs. when I was more in an ultrarunning prep mode I was down at 160 even with eating pretty much I wanted. I thinks it's possible to get down there again by summer if I rev up the longer duration cardio even with lifting at my current pace. The question then become how to fit his all in on top of being a good dad/husband and considering going back for my masters. I know it's not all possible so some legit choices are going to have to be made here. Did I mention I am trying out BJJ also..,,,
Sums it up.
