My name is Tom DeBlass and I am the head instructor at Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Forked River New Jersey. I will be posting many pictures, videos, and thoughts here. I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a long time. I have also competed successfully in some of the biggest tournaments in the world. More importantly, I have helped change people's lives though Jiu-Jitsu. I hope to share my positive experiences with as many people as I can through this blog. Huge congratulations to Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for winning the UGA last Saturday. Being there coaching all day was surely worth it! Proud of everyone's hard work and dedication. #ocbjj

Words can't express how proud I am of all of our students. Yesterday I got to the event at 10 am, coached all day, and didn't compete until 9 pm. Long day yes, worth it for these stars 100%. Our competitors yesterday competed with honor, heart, and class. We had so many victories and winners in every division including an expert division. I'm missing Carlos Perez in this pic, Tommy, and our young super star Tristian just to name a few. I'm so incredibly proud of all of you. I will be on the mats training with you tomorrow. Together we achieve more!!!

Jiu-Jitsu longevity... If you want longevity in Jiu-Jitsu, learn to love it. Understand everyday you get to step on the mats it's a good day. Appreciate the fact that not all days will be easy. In fact, the same challenges that frustrate us on the mats are the same challenges that keep us coming back for more. Remember, most great stories come from overcoming adversity. I assure you, on your quest to black belt you will be faced with adversity. However, this is exactly what you want to make your story worth telling one day to the new white belts walking through the door. Love Jiu-Jitsu, and love the challenges it will bring. This upcoming January will be 10 years that Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be open. I was a college graduate and full time school teacher, at 23 years old with the support of my Professor and parents I walked away from that to pursue my dream. What a ride it's been. With the grace of God and amazing people behind me we have made it 10 years, through a very tough economy may I add. Also jeed to thank my lanlords in Eric plaza Robert and Nava Taff for being amazing. I will continue to do my best to change lives through Jiu-Jitsu. Serving my students always comes first. This January we are going to have a huge party at a hall. The date will be announced soon. There will also be some more Black Belts given out. #thanksGod

2013 Ultra Heavyweight No Gi Black belt Adult division Pan American champion. This was my second grappling competition back after 4 years away due to fighting MMA.
