Introduction!!

Hello, Hi, Hey there!

Welcome to my blog in which I post about a very specific thing I love - Dragon Age!

I have been hanging around the edges of this fandom for a while and finally got the confidence to post something!

I particularly love Solas's character. My world state is a Solavellan one (Hi to fellow Solavellans and other Solas shippers - Solas love for all I say!), but love reading other world states and how it differs. I played Inquisition about 6 months before Veilguard and got all caught up before release and of course, I love the pain and tears and egg gifts us. I love the capacity of tender love but also utter cold destruction - juicy fun.

What also drew me to these games was the use of the unreliable narrator and perspective shifts that change your version of Thedas. I would read codex documents that are from the Chantry and think 'ah so this story I am being told is from the view of the Chantry. Ok, what can I get from this and what do I need to analyse against another account....maybe from a dalish keeper....' . Then I am thinking 'oh and what are their sources, and is that truth or embellished words? What do my experiences in other games tell me?'. It tickles the analysis side to my brain. But from it, I can build my own version of the world. Even when we get the more solid truth about the blight and the Elven Gods in Veilguard, the perspective of how the Gods functioned and who there were to one another can shift in many ways. This is because I believe that our differing perspective alters depending on, what versions of the story we chose to believe, and how we view the game through our experiences with different characters and events in the previous titles. (Oh and our own personal experiences shape our perspectives too). I just think that is cool! The devs gave us a 'baseline' canon, so to speak, and we can add our own details from there if we want to!

All that being said - this blog is my version of Thedas. I tend to reblog works that align or inspire. And post about Solas and what I love in my world state.

JOURNEY

Rhela'vhen has been on a journey, ever since she graced the world with her presence.

A journey of finding not only the courage to do what is necessary, but also the courage to find herself and look deep within.

This journey has brought friends, found new family, healing..

And also laughter, knowledge and revelations.

The road has always been perilous, on the edge. There was no time for second thoughts or doubts. The urgency of the world around bled into every decision and every step taken.

Sometimes, every heartbeat felt like the last one. Heartbreak has left in its wake a more resilient soul, and shattered fragments of what could have been. What could still be.

But each step will bring her closer to completion.

I'm really excited about this new rendering style. But I still need to figure out how to shade hair. Haha. Enjoy Solas and Lavellan blissfully snuggling in the Fade.

New Illustrations

As it often happens, I got swept up in a new thing once again, and now I can't stop wanting to work on the illustrations for my Solavellan fic Divergent Paths!

Chapter 07: Boom - first illustration.

Chapter 07: Boom - second illustration. This is my first dual Solas-Lavellan chapter and both moments are so important to me, I made an exception and made two illustrations for this chapter. The norm will continue to be one per chapter.

Chapter 08: Breach. Chapter 06: Burn also has an illustration, but I've decided to not post that because it contains a major spoiler. So if you wan't to see it, you will have to read the story! 😉 I hope to see some of you give my fic a go! If you have, let me know somewhere in the comments! 💕

WIP Whenever

Thanks @loredrinker for tagging me again.

Recently, I was in a rather gloomy mood. That's why this grim one shot was born. A little dark "what if", inspired by a couple of songs and "Dragonlance". Warning: some people may find what I wrote unacceptable and unpleasant. The mention of death.

The world had shattered.

And it wasn’t because of the torn Veil. Not because of the demons that had broken through, raging across a restored world. Not because of the long‑contained torrents of magic now lashing reality like whips.

His trembling hands, dirty and bloodstained, held what mattered to him now more than anything else. Her. Motionless. Pale. Dead.

With agonizing tenderness, his shaking fingers traced her cold cheek, smeared with dirt. He clutched her desperately, chasing the rapidly fading warmth, pulled her close and buried his face in her tangled hair.

How had this happened? He had done everything to minimize the damage. Everything to protect her. But she, as always, had stood at the heart of the chaos, fighting for a world she had saved so many times. A world she loved, no matter what. That was the essence of her, her spirit he loved so deeply. And she stayed true to herself until the very end.

In the depths of his subconscious, words he had once written by his own hand burned like red hot iron.

“…Perhaps when you read this the world will be as it once was, and you will see why all I did was necessary. I cannot ask your forgiveness, but I hope you come to understand…”

His throat tightened. Then a low, terrible howl tore from him. Oh, she had certainly seen the world as it once was. And that sight had killed her. He had killed her.

He had achieved the goal he had pursued for so many years. For that goal, he had sacrificed everyone willing to walk beside him. And now, amid the rubble and ash, he tried to hold onto the fragments of a broken happiness, cutting himself on their edges. But there would never be happiness again.

Loneliness was all that remained.
