“DO NOT SPEAK TO ME that way, Renesmee,” Edward growled, far harsher than he had ever spoken to his daughter before. Her mother had been impulsive, oftentimes almost desperate to put herself in the line of danger. But this… this wasn’t like Bella’s brand of recklessness. This was indulgence, pure and simple, selfishness in its most concentrated form.
A low snarl rumbling from his chest, Edward approached his errant daughter, standing before her and glaring down at her. The anger was bright, at the forefront, but a deep ache radiated through his chest. She had run off – and not even bothered to consider that she could have talked to them?
“Do you know what you have done to your mother? To our family, by running off like this? This is not a game, young lady, this is not something you can just do on a flight of fancy, not in our world. Do you have any idea what could have happened to you?”
Ness bit back the smirk beginning to surface. Even at his growl her expression remained emotionless as she stood before him. However as he began to close the distance between the quickly, she stood straighter to look him in the eye, not giving him any way to intimidate her. Her heart began to ache with guilt at the mention of her mother. How she must’ve felt when she read that letter. Yet she didn’t regret either.
“ Honestly, I don’t see the big deal. You left mom like it was nothing. She almost died because of it.” She scoffed. “ Besides I don’t really get why you care considering my mother had to convince you not to murder me once I was born.” She spat, her emotions visible through the harsh words. “ I remember everything. How you didn’t want me. How I was only a martyr to you. When I was nothing but cold blooded killer. And you didn’t want me. ” Her smile was anything but joyful. “ Should’ve let me died when the volturi came. Your life would be much easier without me. ”
