TW: Super awkard lesbian dorks, kissing, and moderately bad flirting skills below the tag
Ambrosia pulled her feet up to avoid getting wet from the waves below where she sat. She stared into the distance, almost in a trance. The white and purple haired sea creature had promised to meet her here again, but was it too soon? It had only been a few days since Ambrosia had been rescued by her, and she was extremely grateful (not to mention, smitten) and she hoped she wasnât coming off as desperate. Looking down at the blue waters beneath her, she let out a soft sigh. After sitting for almost three hours, she had all but given up. Her beautiful rescuer from the deep wasnât coming. She shuffled to her feet, much more careful this time so as to not have a repeat of before. She craned her head up towards the sky, pinks and orange hues danced above her as the sunset behind her. She felt a sting in the back of her eyes, and she blinked back the urge to cry. There wasnât a reason to, sheâd been the one to get her hopes up after all. The siren hadnât said when they would meet again, just that they would.
âUgh, stupid, stupid, stupid!â she yelled to no one in particular, though she felt like scolding herself. Here she stood, her medium-length blonde hair blowing on the gentle sea breeze. She pulled down the bottom of her black crop top, and readjusted the waistband of her highrise sailor style jeans. She took a deep breath and walked back towards the pier, her combat boots dragging along the sand. She may have made a fool out of herself, but she could still sulk over it.
Before she was out of earshot, there was a rather loud splash. Ambrosia almost jumped out of her skin, but managed to stay composed enough to turn around. Only, there wasnât anything there. Sighing in frustration, she turned back towards the pier...and bumped right into someone! The blonde fell backwards onto her ass, cursing not-so under her breath. âIâm sorry,â she apologized as she stood up, âI didnât see you-â
Ambrosia looked completely dumbfounded. The girl that stood in front of her was a goddess-level cutie. And her eyes, Ambrosia was stunned. The girlâs eyes were golden, and being this close gave Ambrosia the privilege of seeing that she was not wearing contacts either. There were faint speckles of browns and reds that danced along dark-skinned girlâs irises which complemented her complexion marvelously. She looked like speckled caramel and chocolate candy -- what was it called, vitiligo. Her face looked vaguely familiar, though Ambrosia would have remembered seeing a face as lovely as hers -- sheâd had a thing for girls ever since kindergarten. And sheâd be lying through her teeth if she had to say she wasnât hoping this cutie did too.
âOh, um, Iâm sorry, what?â Ambrosia blushed, âI guess I zoned out there.â
The Lolita-clad girl blushed faintly, âI-itâs quite alright.â Her pale pink dress flitted around her thighs as she swayed, obviously anxious. The girlâs white hair covered half of her face in a peculiar, asymmetrical fashion that Ambrosia was absolutely loving. She nibbled nervously on her bottom lip as Ambrosia stared back, waiting for her to continue.
âWere you, trying to tell me something?â It was Ambrosiaâs turn to question. The girl blushed before nodding curtly, âI-I did, but⊠Iâm sorry I-Iâm not very good at talking to peopleâŠâ
âOh,â that was all? âYouâre fine sweetie! Well, really, youâre more than fine, youâre actually pretty dang cute.â
The girl blinked, wide-eyed at her, âUm, w-whatâŠ?â
âOh shit, um, I didnât mean for that to come out, fuck,â Ambrosia stumbled over her words as she tried to recover the conversation. As she stammered trying to find the right words to say, suddenly she was silenced by an eerily familiar sensation: lips as soft as silk pressed to her own slightly chapped ones. The girl pulled back, and looked sheepishly at her, âMy name is Scylla. Um, I was watching you sit out here. Iâm really sorry for making you wait, but I had to make sure no one else would see me first.â
Ambrosia lightly brushed her fingers against her lips, still feeling the subtle familiar spark; she knew who this girl was, deep down, and her mind was trying to put together how. She blinked a few times, still not fully processing what had happened. The cutie in front of her -- Scylla -- was growing anxious, Ambrosiaâs stunned silence obviously setting her on edge. After a moment Ambrosia blinked and looked up at Scylla who shuddered at the sudden clarity of Ambrosiaâs forest green eyes. Without thinking Ambrosia lifted her fingertips to brush softly against Scyllaâs lips, causing the darker-skinned girl to squeal in surprise. Ambrosia leaned in closely, and followed the feeling she had growing in her core; she kissed her much more deeply than Scylla had her. A blush spread across her lips as she suddenly recognized this dull electric spark she felt when they touched: this is her. Scylla made a small noise out of embarrassment, and Ambrosia pulled back suddenly, afraid she had offended her savior in some way. âA-are you okay?â she asked, a sense of panic lacing her voice.
Scylla shook her head, white hair flowing around her, âNo, no i-itâs not you, um⊠Well, kind of? You, um, y-you know who I am, right?â
Ambrosia smiled breathlessly, âOf course, youâre Scylla. Youâre the one who saved me the other day.â Hearing this Scylla quickly looked down trying to hide her face. Sheâs too cuteâŠ
âHuh?â Ambrosia looked just as confused as Scylla did.
âUm,â Scylla peeked up at her from behind her mismatched bangs, her golden eyes dancing in the last remaining light from the setting sun, âyou said, um, y-you said Iâm too cuteâŠâ
Ambrosia stared back at her, before suddenly realizing her lack of a filter was out to get her tonight. âIâm sorry, heh, um, I donât really have a good filter. What I think sometimes just, comes out,â she laughed, hoping to ease the tension in the air. After a few seconds passed, it seemed Scylla finally caught on to the humorous tone of her voice and let out a soft giggle. Ambrosia thought she might melt right there, into a little blonde, cat-shaped puddle of hearts and stupid grins. This mustâve shown on her face because Scylla giggled her perfect laugh again and caused a shiver to go through Ambrosiaâs spine. She shook her head trying to regain her composure just long enough to do this one thing. Taking a deep breath she dived right in, âWould you want to go on that date with me, now?â
Scylla laughed again, causing Ambrosia to blush. âWas that wrong?â she asked.
âNo, no,â Scylla said, still giggling, âisnât it obvious? Of course I would.â
