throwback to hc 10 because i am always late to the party. guess who made an attempt to learn perspective for this? truly reached flow state while doing this… but it’s finally finished and nothing looks real anymore.

Joel is red-green colourblind. Joel also loves making things for his friends, especially food and crocheted goods. Joel is also extremely stubborn about doing things by hand without help.

What this means is that for the last decade, every year, Joel's various LGBTQ+ friends and family have received homemade, very unique Pride flag-coloured items from him. Such as:

The "wait, this is just aroace" rainbow cake for the first Hermit Pride event he attended (red, orange, green -> yellow, violet -> blue). Only Etho was knowingly aroace at the time, which of course led to a lot of jokes about Joel's obsession and memes for days along the lines of "Happy Pride Month to Etho and Etho only".

The "everyone now thinks I'm from the Netherlands" gay flag (green -> red). The recipient, Scott, will never let him live it down. As much as he loves teasing Joel over it as rivals, he still has the flag in his room, hanging proudly with the rest.

The "minion" nonbinary flag (purple -> blue) Cleo received. Except Cleo isn't actually familiar with pride flags either, so they spent a long time under the impression that the nonbinary flag was yellow/white/blue/black. Even after being corrected of her misconceptions by a horrified Gem and Scott, they still maintain that Joel's version looks nicer and she prefers using it.

The "actually this should go to Scott" bi flag (pink -> green, purple -> blue) for Gem. In fact, Joel thought that Gem's iconic green-and-blue outfit was entirely bi flag colours (instead of just her shoes), hence his choice of colours when he couldn't actually tell what the colour on top was. Gem did still keep the flag. In fact, it's now a running joke among the younger Hermits and their friend group that Joel is the official creator of the Gem Pride flag.

The "bloody murder" bi teddy bear (pink -> red, blue -> dark purple-black) he made for Lizzie. After, and despite all the ribbing, Lizzie loved it, declaring that maybe it really did fit the two of them best, given their shared proclivity for chaos, murder and a scene phase from just before they first started dating. She kept it in their room until their daughter was born and they "needed to make the room more child-friendly".

Even though almost none of Joel's pride gifts are ever the right colour (even with help, he will pick the wrong colour out of spite that people are actually offering him help), all the recipients love and treasure the gifts.

Huge shut out to the @boatboys-zine for organizing such wonderfull and wholesome zine EUEUEUEUUEUEUEUE I am so honored to be part of this

And ofc I went all in on the details and such for the accasion! Here some closeups of my favourite parts of the drawing

Honestly it is so cool I think the smallest format it can go in printing is A3 XD. A4 would not give it proper space to unfold XD

I love your trapped life Joel design more than anything in the world and was wondering two things...

1) would it be okay if I made a Minecraft skin for him? I love making mc skins and have a vision

I do have a lot about Joel that hasn't been shared yet! (I'm struggling a little bit with his Watchers File =w=)

Well, finding these I realized I really like drawing him ovo

Here is some headcanons / more information on this lil winner

1 ) Going off the last drawing, a good portion of Joel was changed to be cybernetic parts when he was combined with his game. those parts being both arms and legs, his neck, and his heart. it gave his voice a slight mechanical tinge. It's also one of the more permanent/dangerous changes made to the winners, as his heart is now cybernetic.

2 ) He is a Tanuki hybrid! which means he can shapeshift into anything he wants, witch he will use to his advantage later in the chapters of the fanfic

3 ) The Wild Cards still affect him; not only that, but with every new wild card, his personality will also change. For example

Size-shifting - egotistical

The Hunger - whiny and feral

snails - super Paranoid

Time Dilation - suuupeerr hyper

Trivia Bot - tactical and calm, will ask questions

Mob Swap - has a chance of being any regular emotion types (happy, sad, angry, etc)

Superpower - violent

Snake eyes (whenever the wildcard dice rolls snake eyes) - Regular Joel (this is also extremely rare)

4 ) When Lizzie died, he was able to find her wedding band, he keeps hers and his own on a necklace

5 ) he is unable to think of or see Lizzie. When he tries, he can end up glitching out and forgetting what he was doing.

6 ) Joel likes to mess around with Mumbo, as he is the only other player trapped in Wild Life.

7 ) In his design, I have his eyes hidden with his bangs so they can hide his intentions and make his actions more unpredictable. he is also designed the way he is becasue he was combined with the Trivia Bot!

8 ) Due to Mumbo being stuck in Wild Life, the other First Outs don't know anything about Joel and what combining him with Wild Life did to him. He is the only Winner that the others know nothing about.

9 ) When normal Joel appeared during the first bit of being trapped, he would try finding a way out, while trying not to get annoyed with the switches. Now he gets too overwhelmed and usually spends his time trying to just block everything out

I left a very small number of things out that will be on his Watchers File! (just little things like how long he's been trapped / awake and how dangerous he is)
