The Estate's Secret
(I saw the movie leaks and I was INSTANTLY thrusted back into ATLA hyperfixation and I wanted to give it a go at drawing one of my all time favorite characters because Toph's story is so wonderfully done and theres so much nuance that I HAD to draw em out. This is a two parter piece AND I still have more ideas so buckle up)

Silly Caine doodles.
Trauma Deluxe Part Two!
(˶˃𐃷˂˶)
One thing I don’t see enough people talking about is how in the beginning of the TADC the final act, Jax freaks out on kinger, shoving him and claiming he doomed everyone despite doing the same exact thing canonically (presumably) a week ago and absolutely NOBODY brings this up. Especially when he intentionally ruined everyone’s chances vs “I think I ACCIDENTALLY killed Caine”
Nobody calls him out for being a hypocrite. But I guess a singular conversation amongst them that lingered on what Jax did for, without exaggerating, 30 seconds was enough to make them forget about it.

listen i am here fully admitting that that one, THAT ONE really short moment where zuko activates his fire jets underneath his feet, are like two second that i keep watching on repeat over and over if i stubble upon on youtube edit, for.... well uh... REASON! and yeha adult gaang is hot and snatched, and buff, and attractive, and its all in their cheekbones. (may or may not more doodles in the future).
but my brain is the whole time "gosh none of them drink enough water"
not today...
Honestly, I'm kinda glad the show is over bc that means it can't hurt Ragatha anymore.
Babygirl, I am gonna give you so much love and attention, you have no idea.
Out of Touch
While I can definitely see Jax as a cautionary tale about not opening up to change and bettering themselves, I felt like this idea could have been represented in a better manner. To have a confirmed suicidal character abstract rather than to grow as a person, especially in a show with themes of mental health and finding meaning in life, feels tragic and not in a meaningful sense. It feels tragic for the sake of tragedy, rather than intertwining with what the early show was praised for.
I feel like this would have worked better if the show didn’t spend so much time focusing on Jax, which came at the cost of the other character’s arcs and development. If Jax was always meant to be an irredeemable person, the series should have put more focus on the characters who did want to better their health and relationships rather than giving all the focus on the person who didn’t. We could have focused on Kinger’s grief over his wife and why is mental state is the way it is. We could have focused on Ragatha’s grief over literally and metaphorically losing her friends, as well as her trauma response due to her mother. We could have focused on Gangle’s mania and the trauma she endured due to Jax. We could have focused on Zooble’s self-image issues and them missing their old life.
I am not arguing that Jax is a good person. Far from it actually. However, I did think that Jax and the people he’s hurt (especially Ragatha and Gangle) did not deserve an ending where he dies. An ending where he is killed off (where his character is denied redemption and his victims are denied closure) does not mend well with the show’s central theme of mentally healing and finding emotional support.
Actually, y'know what? In hindsight, I'm glad that Bunnydoll and Showtime went ignored by the show. I shudder to think what gooner fantasies Goose might've projected onto them had she actually cared...
Finally! Pomni's persistence paid back
