Not "The Character did nothing wrong" or "The Character is irredeemably awful" but a secret third thing: The Character may display moments of deep love & compassion, may even have a strong sense of ethics, and may also be capable of brutal cruelty that is irreconcilable with those traits. The constant tension between the different sides of The Character's nature is exactly what makes them compelling, and attempting to reduce them down to simply "a terrible person" or "innocent & misunderstood" is missing the point of the questions a media with nuanced characters is asking you to consider
One of my favourite photos from my trip to Warsaw in 2006
A whale shark mermaid and her entourage of remora. These small mermaids form a symbiotic relationship with their large host, helping take care of her physical needs, like hygiene, organization, and navigation, and in return she provides travel and food. The arrangement is not just practical, but social as well. The "crew" of remora form close relationships with each other and with their host, some traveling together for years or even their entire lives. In a wide ocean where size peers are few and far between, this group operates as a complete and loving family unit.
Pakku's backstory in RITD
Pakku and Kanna were legit in love with each other. Pakku proposed to Kanna but then their parents arranged different spouses for them. Kanna wanted to run away with Pakku, but he did not want to leave the NWT. They fought over this for a while. Then one night, Kanna disappeared. Pakku later found out that a women’s rights group helped her and a few other women in bad marriages escape. (Divorce for women is illegal in NWT) Pakku became bitter and more misogynistic because of this. He finds out Katara is Kanna’s granddaughter later during Day of the Black Sun.

@post-brahminism check it
y'all think she feels bad about this?
The similarities and differences between how Katara and Sokka are written never fail to amaze me, i already made a couple posts about it but i have more.
The way they both make reckless decisions based on emotion except Katara is prone to doing it when she wants to help anybody, even people she doesn't know (that village in the painted lady ep, following Haru and wanting to save all the earthbenders etc.)
But whenever Sokka does something stupid it's usually to save someone he cares about personally (going to the boiling rock without a plan to save his dad, attacking Azula when she mentioned Suki etc.)
The perfect example of this is in the painted lady when they have that argument and Katara says "I will never turn my back on people who need me" and Sokka decides he is going with her saying "You need me and i will never turn my back on you".
He didn't agree with her intention, the only reason he went is because he knew there is no talking her out of it and while he could turn away from the village, he couldn't turn away from Katara.
That being said it's not like Sokka doesn't want to help people he doesn't know, it's just that he is strategic about it and when he realizes that they can't do much to help, he knows that the logical thing is to leave before they get into trouble. His will to help people isn't strong enough to make him reckless and have him rushing in without a plan unlike Katara who is willing to risk everything to help even when it seems impossible.
But he is very reckless when it comes to people he loves and he would risk anything to protect them.
And that's why he always ends up joining Katara and Aang in their missions even while complaining about how reckless they are being, because even if he thinks it's a dumb idea he doesn't want them to do it alone.
I'm sorry I keep posting my tiktok comments but please. What does this mean. What do people THINK shipping is for anymore???
AO3 authors in the lab creating ships purely for research purposes:
Creating ships for the tax write-off
Creating ships to get that fucking whale.
creating ships to wedge into the Suez canal and disrupt global shipping

[TADC] PeckaBoo! - Character Sheet
One character sheet less to do, here's PeckaBoo! My OC from The Amazing Digital Circus! A mysterious character but also an antagonist that loves to make the guests uncomfortable and be afraid of her. Originally human but something happened that her mind had to be reset.
More about her would tell depending on the attention she receives! (Didn't made much shading because I'd rather post fast than the most quality of this)
Thinking about Zuko bringing the steambaby to council meetings so Katara can have an uninterrupted nap
• The first time he does it, the council members expects chaos. Instead, the baby immediately falls asleep against her father's chest the moment he starts speaking
• Zuko becomes surprisingly skilled at conducting business one-handed. He signs papers, points at maps, and gestures during debates while his daughter is tucked securely in the other arm
• Whenever the baby starts fussing, Zuko instinctively stands and begins pacing around the chamber while continuing the discussion without missing a beat, as if it's completely normal for the Fire Lord to be walking laps around the room while soothing an infant
• Meetings actually run more smoothly when the baby is present. Nobody wants to be the person who wakes the sleeping princess
Whenever Zuko wants to respond angrily to some complete bullshit, he instead adopts a tone of voice as if speaking to a very small child, and whoever it was who was arguing with him ends up feeling stupid.
