Atlanta Premiere of “Sarah’s Oil” Inspires Faith and Legacy

On Monday, October 3rd, your girl MyWayKay headed over to Regal Cinemas at Atlantic Station to attend the highly anticipated red carpet screening of “Sarah’s Oil,” a powerful faith-based docu-drama produced by Ciara and Russell Wilson.

Atlanta’s media, film enthusiasts, and faith-filled supporters showed up in full force to witness the extraordinary story of Sarah Rector; a brilliant, determined 11-year-old Black girl from Oklahoma who inherits 160 acres of land worth millions of dollars.

Sarah’s story is the epitome of God’s plan and His divine provision. What He placed in her heart required faith, fight, and fulfillment. This was no ordinary piece of land; beneath its surface were ocean-sized reserves of oil that would forever change her family’s life. Through that blessing, Sarah’s family paid off debts, became business owners, and began building a legacy that would last generations.

I was deeply inspired by this film because I saw myself; and so many others in Sarah. She’s a living symbol of obedience, courage, and steadfastness. Despite her youth, she stood firm on God’s promises and used wisdom far beyond her years to navigate deceit, greed, and adversity. She faced powerful men who tried to steal, kill, and destroy what was hers, but her unshakable faith and divine favor made her victorious.

So many believers can relate to Sarah’s journey, especially those walking in their God-given purpose. The Bible reminds us that “with God, all things are possible” and calls us to be strong and courageous in the Lord, trusting that He will fight our battles. Sarah’s story is living proof of that truth.

Building a business, walking in purpose, or stepping out on faith isn’t easy; and Sarah’s father knew that well. Their biggest obstacle was finding someone to believe in their vision. Yet, even in a segregated town where she was often overlooked, doubted, and dismissed because of her race and age, Sarah remained faithful. That unwavering faith is what ultimately opened doors that no man could close.

Without giving away too much, I’ll just say that “Sarah’s Oil” is a must-see. The film runs under two hours, but its impact lingers long after the credits roll. It’s a moving story of legacy, faith, and divine favor; one that will leave you both inspired and grateful.

The red carpet was also a sight to see! The premiere brought out an incredible mix of Atlanta’s finest; from Pastor John Gray, Gospel artist Jor’Dan Armstrong, Yandy Smith, and Tamar Braxton, to well-known socialites, influencers, and faith leaders who came together to celebrate this powerful film. “Sarah’s Oil” officially hits theaters on Friday, November 7th.

Do yourself a favor; gather your friends and family, and go out to support a Black, faith-based film that beautifully blends history, hope, and Holy Spirit power.

Because sometimes, the oil isn’t just in the ground; it’s in your faith, obedience, and purpose.

Brian Jordan Jr.’s RILEY: The Mixtape — A Bold Love Letter to the HBCU Experience

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, a time was definitely had at the exclusive blue-carpet event for RILEY, a soon-to-be Broadway musical that captures the HBCU experience through music, dance, culture, and legacy. The creative mastermind behind it all, Brian Jordan Jr. yes, the hilarious “Maurice” from BET+ and Tyler Perry’s hit series Sistas is showing us just how limitless Black creativity really is.

With RILEY, he’s crafting a musical that’s an unapologetic celebration of Black boy and girl magic on a collegiate level.

A Full-Circle Moment

Before I even get into the details, let me tell you; this event was personal for me. When I realized where I was, it hit me: back in 2012, I volunteered at this exact same venue for So So Def’s 20th Anniversary Party my first real industry gig, working check-in and ushering celebrity talent down the red carpet. So standing there again, years later, not as staff but as press? Yeah, it felt like a divine reminder that dreams really do come full circle.

The Vibes and the Venue

Hosted at Summerour Studio in West Midtown Atlanta right near Atlantic Station; the space was magical. The entrance was covered in lush greenery, giving a whimsical yet refined feel.

Guests came dressed to impress; think college-prep chic meets Black excellence. From the decor to the university-themed touches, it truly felt like we had stepped into an HBCU homecoming party done the RILEY way.

The Guests and Good Energy

The blue carpet was star-studded. Devale and Khadeen Ellis (also BET+ favorites) pulled up to support their friend Brian, joking that even though it was a “school night,” the kids gave them permission to step out. Guests included cast members, collaborators, and friends who all played a role in bringing RILEY: The Mixtape to life.

Inside, the southern hospitality was real authentic gumbo, po’ boys, an open bar, a sweet wall, a photo booth, and a handful of creative RILEY-inspired experiences. You could feel the pride in every detail.

Giving Flowers and Creating Legacy

During his speech, Brian gave heartfelt thanks to the incredible people who helped him turn his vision into reality, especially Ms. Tina Fears, Atlanta’s own mogul and proud Clark Atlanta University grad. He even crowned her "Miss Rilley College" literally gave her flowers and gifted her a of RILEY University letters man jacket with "T.Fears" on the back. This was a moment that had everyone clapping and smiling.

Then came the music; the DJ dropped tracks from RILEY: The Mixtape and the room exploded with energy. Dancers, cast members, and Brian himself hit the floor, giving us a taste of the choreography and spirit we can expect on stage. It was pure joy, Black excellence, artistry, and unity all in one room.

Final Thoughts

You can tell Brian Jordan Jr. learned a lot from Tyler Perry, but he’s also creating his own lane by giving opportunities, building community, and leaving a legacy that’s going to inspire generations. RILEY isn’t just a musical; it’s a movement, a celebration, and a reminder that our stories are powerful and worth being told on every stage.

Lifetime's "Buried Alive and Survived" ATL Private Screening Featuing Tyler Lepley

The private Lifetime screening of "Buried Alive and Survived" that stars Eva Marcille (The Real Housewives of Atlanta, All the Queen’s Men) and Tyler Lepley (P-Valley, Harlem) was worth one night of skipping Esthetician school just so I could be in attendance.

It was held at this upscale, hidden gem venue located in Sandy Springs, GA. The lounge was absolutely beautiful and asthetically pleasing. There were tasy tapa style dishes, an open bar with delicious signture cocktails, a popcorn machine, a chocolate candy bar. I mean, they had it set up pretty nice and of course you had your red carpet where Atlanta meda professionals took picutres of the film director, casts members, and asked interview questions.

Once the mix and mingling was over, it was time to for the highly anticiapated premiere of Buried Alive and Survived. We entered the theatre of the lounge, which was unexpected. I actually didn't have a clue where we were going to see the screening and when we urged to find our seats, I was impressed with the presentation and all that had been provided thus far.

Burived Alive and Survived is based on a true story that follows a woman, who miraculously survives being buried alive by her ex-husband. The movie joins Lifetime’s fall slate of Ripped from the Headlines movies. 

Accoriding to the official press release, Buried Alive and Survived follows Alicia (Marcille) who finds herself facing a terrifying ordeal after her ex-husband, Victor (Lepley) is released from prison. Determined to protect herself and their son Malcolm, Alicia resists Victor’s demands to reconcile and reunite as a family. But in a twisted turn of events, Victor traps Alicia underground and buries her…alive! Surrounded by darkness and dirt, Alicia pushes down the panic and fear of suffocating and manages to claw her way of out of her grave. Now freed, she searches desperately for her son, knowing his safety hinges on staying one step ahead of Victor’s obsession.

What also made this night super special is during the screening, Tyler Lepley joined us. This was his first time seeing the film as well and he indeed enjoyed it along with us.

Concluding the evening was a Q&A session with both director and Lepley with the press that was quite entertaining. We learned that when Lepley is filming, he doesn't wait until told "action" to get into character but he says there's this emotional trigger feel that when it's time to roll, he's already in that state of mind.

I think all of us that were watching can agree that Tyler really did embody his character and the emotions he was directed to display. He played the role of a manic, narcissistic husband and let's just say all too well.

Many women who have experienced DV like myself, know it's best to get as far away as possible when dating these kind of men. And that's what you will see Eva try do but enough of me not trying to share too much.

Two scriptures explain this for me! “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ The Bible says it for me. In Psalms “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If you had one person to choose to be your mentor, who would it be and why?

It would be my father Rev Dr Bobby R Showers Sr. He walks the walk and talks the talk! He lives the life that he preaches and he loves the Lord with all his heart and his neighbor as hisself.

What is one inspirational quote you live by?

My father has this saying and it inspires me to do better. Do what you supposed to do and not what we want to do. He gathered this saying from Proverbs 3:5-6! “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬ We bring trouble on ourselves when we do our own thing which is lean to our understanding instead of Gods understanding.

How has your faith in Jesus played a role in your every day life and current success?

Nothing can be gotten in life without HIM! My success and future success is all predicated upon how I treat the MASTER. He’s going to do His part but in order for me reciprocate His blessings I must do what I’m supposed to do and not what I want to do.

Lastly, what does "MyWay" mean to you?

MyWay means that I’ve been leaning to my own understanding and God isn’t pleased with a selfish person. Anyone who has that MyWay mindset God is not pleased with that individual.

Fans, media, her cast mates of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and friends turned up to show their support and celebrate her achievement.

As a frequent watcher of RHOA myself, I shared in the excitement for Ms. Moore, who has dedicated herself to establishing this venture. Her committment to Kenya Moore Haircare, known for its premium quality products, is truly commendable. These sought-after items are already making waves on the shelves of Sally's Beauty and CVS. Now, patrons can enjoy hair treatments, relaxing massages, and purchase her renowned products, all under one roof. Located in Chamblee Dunwoody, GA, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Bryan-Michael Cox, Dj Envy, Porsha Williams & More At The 2024 RnB Soul Picnic ATL

A wonderful time was had at the 2024 RnB Soul Picnic the weekend of May 11th-12th. When I say there were thousands of beautiful black and brown people at the Westside Park in Atlanta, GA, I mean it!

The sole purpose of the festival gathering was not only to enjoy and dance to our favorite RnB records but to pay homage to the lengendary Djs from across the country who have dominated in this genre and spent many years spinning some of RnB greatest hits. Like music mogul/producer/songerwriter Bryan-Michael Cox; he worked with producer Jermaine Dupri in the early 90s and is repsonsible for reknown artsits like Usher, Mariah Carey, and Bow Wow. He even worked with Monica, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, and more! B-Cox most definely did his thing during his set and rocked the crowd with some throwback 80's & 90s RnB classics.

This was really the vibe the entire weekend. Although, MyWay was only in the building on Saturday, we still had a day filled with entertainment, live music, good food, and good drinks.

I can't forget to mention the hard working vendors that came out to showcase their products, from body essential oils, fashionable everyday wear pieces, sungalsses, NY's Italian Ice, beauty products, and more. Then you had the food trucks that were lined up from one end of the park to the next. There were so many options to choose from that made the decision making hard because all the food smelled good and from the looks of it, it had to taste good too.

I could tell people were happy about their choices. I heard 0 complaints. And as for me;, of course I had to go with the fried whiting and fried shimp basket. Please believe it was worth the whole $25. Now, it was hot so towards the end of the evening it was only right to indulge into some Itailan Ice for a nice little cool down. There were a good three to four trucks selling these delciious cups of frozen fruit greatness.

Nonetheless, it was so awesome to see and hear DJ Envy from the Breakfast Club come out on stage and rock the crowd. If I have to be honest, he had one of the best sets. He came out there with confidence but also with ATL on his mind. He turned us up with his first song paying homeage to the late Shawty Lo. He defintely got the crowds attention with that one and then he had us all doing the throwback dances. One he recived the crowd particiaption as he anticipated, he hit us over the head with RNB nostalgia.

Porsha Williams from the Real House Wives of Atlanta also was in the bulding. She came, showed her face and showed loved to her fans. She mentioned that this week they are beginning to fi lm a new season of RHOA and that it's going to be filled with HOT tea and girl like drama. I acutally like the show (sometimes lol) and Porsha hasn't been on for a couple of seasons, so i'm sure her return is going to be interesting, especially with all of what's going on with her latest divorce.

In other news, the event was worth it! MyWay had a really great time and we will be at the next one!

Pj is a shining example of dedication, passion, and purpose. His story inspires us all to reach for our dreams and make a difference in the world.

So, tell us a little bit about yourself and what it is that you do:

Currently, I attend Strayer University where I am getting my Bachelors in Business Administration. My expected graduation date is December 2025. This by itself has been a journey for me.

To add to that, I kind of do it all; mostly from Substituting with Guilford County Schools, mentorship work on the side, and now I'm working in a new position as the Public Saftey Telecommunications Specialist Coordianator at the ILLUSTRIOUS North Carolina A&T University in their Police Department Public Safety division.

How long have you been working towards this goal and what is its purpose?

After my 25th birthday, I really had to have a conversation with GOD about my next chapter and what exactly is it that he needs from me. I wasn’t liking my situation andI felt like I had outgrown the school I was at including the position I was working in for two years. Although it was the kids I enjoyed and not the adults.

Honestly, I got my confirmation one day when my vehicle broke down on the Tennessee state line. I was on my way to what was a birthday celebration weekend but there I was on the side of the road sitting in pure embarrassment & humiliation.

I began going through a mental and emotional process that encouraged me to start letting go of my wants and needs and give it all to Him, Jesus that is.

I realize, the thing with some us is that we aren’t willing to go through anything like trials and tribulations to reach our purpose. However, now I know in order to get something, you got to go through something. *cues No Pain No Gain by Betty Wright*

Have you faced any challenges? If so, what were they and how did you overcome?

At on point in my life, I had more bills than money. I remember one night talking to one of my close friends who is like a brother outside of my former home. He said to me “you have too much in you to just sit." He was right; because at the time I was giving up and allowing situations that were out of my control overtake me. For instance, I was working so many hours and compromising so much to the point where I felt like a robot that was “just operating." So, I simply surrendered and that means I gave everything over to Christ.

This is such a profound gesture of humility because it allows us to fully allow the Lord to do a great work within us. Also, no matter what it may look like …the process isn’t going to be pretty that's why you have to TRUST!

The process may look like Him telling you to surrender your vehicle or the process may look like Him telling you to leave that job or position and guess what? The process is simply what it is. Proverbs 3:5-6

What are some things that keep you motivated?

What keeps me motivated is God's promise. I know what He promised me when He showed me what I could have if I just surrendered and begin the work.

What are some qualities and characteristics about yourself that make you original & outstanding? 

I’ve always been someone who “stood on business” even when it was “oppositions” I still stood on my beliefs and standards.

What is one inspirational quote you live by?

To Survive is to thrive in the face of Opposition- Lauryn Hill

How has your faith in Jesus played a role in your every day life and current success?

The current role that I have at North Carolina A&T University was birthed out of my surrendering. I was rejected from this college at the age of 19; I applied again at 23 and I was still rejected. Time went by and I ended up working on campus for security under the supervision of a former friend who betrayed me. With all that being said and all that I had gone through, I’m back again and I'm better. This time I networked and I introduced myself to strangers who seemed to be the right people at the right time.

I know in my heart God placed my name in rooms that I never thought I would be in and because of that, my faith has only gotten stronger.

Lastly, what does "MyWay" mean to you?

“My Way” means you simply do it the way that you want.

Grammy Artist Q. Parker Host 11th Annual 'Caroling with Q. Parker and Friends' With Performances By CeeLo, Musiq Soulchild, and More

On Tuesday, December 12th Grammy Award Winning Artist Q. Parker, 1 out of 4 of the male R&B Group “112”  put on his 11th Annual Carloing With Q. Parker & Friends Gala held at the House of Hope Event Center in Decatur, GA.

The senior studded night was honorable, admirable, and purposeful. Q. Parker and his team really went all out by providing a space for Atlanta seniors to display their Sunday’s best, fellowship, eat, sing Christmas carols both old and new as well as share their hearts with one another with Christ in mind. This was a free event. All they had to do was show up so the program could show out. 

Being it is the season with reason, Q. Parker & Friends gave us spirit filled entertainment that flexed their wide range of vocal abilities. For instance, Musiq Soulchild was in the building and he graced us with an original Christmas carol titled “Simplest Christmas” which he and his brother/mentee accomplished. Then there was Wingo from Jagged Edge, Major the “Falsetto Master,” soulful Dondria Nicole, ATL’s own Legend Cee-Lo Green, and many more. Compared to the elementary school concert I went to the other week, this was a bit refreshing if you know what I mean (haha). 

The decor. Let’s get into the decor, honey. Q. Parker's wife Sharlinda Parker did an outstanding job. Her and her team. They really made it look enchanting to say the least. The room was filled with these money green and gold balloons making the place resemble worth and prosperity.

The centerpieces, the customized utensil covers were unique and nicely designed. The atmosphere and the venue appeared very rich. I am so blessed to have been in the room amongst both men and women who are gracefully aging and not looking one bit over 60. The grandmas, grandpas, and aunties were outside. Looking fabulous. It was the sparkly shoes for me. Everyone seemed to just have had a good time from start to finish. 

There's much to unpack because it wasn't just a night about caroling. DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson acknowledged Q. Parker and his Legacy Foundation including both South West Atlanta & South West DeKalb County's Chairmen. Q received a proclamation that highlights all of the work he and his non-profit has done over the last 11 years.

I cannot forget to mention black Santa Claus was in the building. Some of yall mommas and aunties were sitting on his lap (lol) but it was all fun, laughter, and love. We definitely had a good time. A time that was needed especially during this season of giving. Speaking of giving, there was a recliner chair, a few 50” inch TVs, a couple of foot massagers, and a few space heaters that were given out to raffle ticket winners. The host of the event most definitely kept us entertained. 

Lastly, the homage Q. Parker paid to the women in his life who helped to support and hone his singing dream/career just about brought me to tears. From his mom, to his elementary and middle school teacher, to his old neighborhood candy lady. He really did an amazing job expressing how appreciative and thankful he is for their love and support throughout his life and musical career. They all played a major role in his life and it was beautiful to witness him give them their well deserved flowers. Mind you each one of them except for one were able to attend this commendable night. During this time, Q also acknowledged his beautiful wife. 

What a time to experience such a heartfelt ceremony that not only acknowledged how much the Atlanta seniors mean to their community but also how much they are loved by the people they have helped and served most of their lives, the people who call them mom, daddy, ant, or uncle. Again, this has been going on for 11 years now and I’m just now learning about it. I think it’s wonderful, especially knowing that our elders are our protectors. They watch over us, love us, and do their best to steer us in the right direction. Don’t nobody have your back like granny or grandad, uncle Joe or great auntie Anne. Some people overlook the seniors but not Q. Parker. For a decade he has made the Seniors of Atlanta feel seen, heard, and supported during the Christmas holiday.

This really hit home for me.  I recently lost my grandmother, my ride or die, back in October 2023 to cancer and other complications… and my life has not been the same. It hurts if I can be honest but to have an opportunity like this to be surrounded by such grace, strength, and longevity. I am grateful to God. As much as my grandma loved her music; she would have definitely enjoyed herself and the live band. They were getting down! 

With that being said, this entire experience was exceptional. I appreciate MyWay being able to be in the room. We left with our hearts filled up with joy. Job well done!

Lifetime’s Mary J. Blige's Real Love [ATL SCREENING] Premieres Nationally on June 10th

We are elated to share with you the “Real Love” red carpet movie premiere experience we were blessed to attend on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the AMC Madison Yards 8 in Atlanta, GA.

This romantic drama is Executive Produced by the Queen of R&B herself, Ms. Mary J. Blige. The “Real Love” songstress partnered with the Lifetime Network to make her vision come to life, as it did from the looks of it.

We definitely enjoyed watching the love story unfold just as much as we enjoyed watching the cast unfold it.

Familiar faces we all love from 50 Cent’s hit show “BMF” like Da’Vinchi & Ajiona Alexus are the star actors and my God did they do a great job embodying each character and the emotions that they exuded effortlessly.

We love a good lifetime movie, especially one that resonates and helps shape a new perspective.

Atlanta Welcomes “The Flip” starring Kanye Sunday Service Director Jason White & The Samples

This past Easter was like no other. Not only was I grateful for the resurrection of Jesus Christ but I got to celebrate his awakening by attending “The Flip” starring Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir (The Samples) directed by Jason White.

Now, by the grace of God I have been able to witness these angelic voices every time they have come to Atlanta. Talk about being at the right place at the right time. My first experience was when the choir/The Samples sung at New Birth Missionary Church back in 2019. Again at both ATL DONDA concerts back in 2021 and now the evening of Easter of 2023 at the House of Hope in Decatur, GA. I was so ecstatic to be in the room with such amazing people who believe in the gospel as well as sing the gospel.

eAtlanta media outlets showed up to cover the red carpet and the VIP room experience that was catered by Slutty Vegan. There was also an open bar but since I was in the house of the Lord, I made it my duty to only drink ginger ale. No temptations please (lol).

Hosted by social media influencers B. Simone & Megan Brooks, “The Flip” had people of all ages even celebrities like Yung Job, Karlie Red, Elijah Connor, Kim Burrell, Woody McClain were all singing their hearts out and rocking to the ATL throwbacks that had an exhilarating gospel twist. It was impressive to hear and see how The Samples paid homage to Atlanta music culture and it’s greatest artists of all time like TI, Outkast, Xscape and Ludacris. They really give “Remix”  a run for its name.

The Samples who are known for their unique adaptations of popular music, presented “The Flip” which was an immersive experience that promised the ultimate convergence of art and music.

Curated for the entertainment and art communities, “The Flip” infuses spirituality to encourage and uplift, while intensely stirring the soul, leaving a lasting impact.
