The more we’re advancing in this timeline the less fucks AOC is giving and I’m endlessly here for it
The part about walking is also ablesit and inconsiderate about the heat and elderly people. It’s 100 degrees farenheit + where i am. Walking 3 blocks kills people. And damn i bank with chase too.
This is a bad take. Here’s why.
1.
Healthy groceries, $100 is pretty low, but okay. that’s per week.
Dinner date with someone you love, let’s say once a month to be generous.
For one year, healthy groceries will cost you $5200
For one year, the dinner date will cost you $1200.
Let’s not shame people for splurging on something for spending time with people
2.
Therapist is $130 an hour.
Trip to target that costs $130 will likely be groceries, things like bed sheets, home appliances, aka things you need to be able to live.
Would love more people to be able to go to therapy, but financially it’s not viable for many people and let’s face it, you still need a microwave and groceries.
3.
Average college class $1000. Personally I think that’s low, but okay. I just graduated. Most of the classes there were 4 credits, and I needed 128 to graduate.
So really, you need $128,000 for this, excluding necessities such as pens, paper, textbooks, and at the very least access to a computer if not your own.
iphone: $1000, might be replacing someone’s computer, you literally need phone for things such as connection with others and to put down for potential jobs. Not to mention, it’s fun! You can do a lot with it! It can replace your landline, your computer, your camera, and many other things.
Again, it’s not viable for many people to go to college. Let’s not shame them for getting a phone that you need to function in today’s society.
4.
Kid’s summer camp: $180. This is likely just for one week of day camp, because there is no where I can think that it would be this cheap. 12 weeks of camp= $2160.
shoes that last years: $180. Maybe someone needed nice shoes that would hold up for work. Maybe they saved up to get a pair of shoes they like. Either way, it’s a lot cheaper to not send a kid to camp if you don’t have the money.
5.
60 minutes of exercise after a long day of work, sometimes people work two jobs to make ends meet for their families.
So, you’re exhausted already. Now you also have to spend money on getting exercise shoes, clothes, and equipment. Or a gym membership. Again, not in the cards for people who don’t have time or money.
60 minutes of instagram on their iphone you already shamed them for: free, connects you with friends and families, can do this while you’re relaxing after a long day at work.
This isn’t to create drama or to shame OP. Please, everyone just have a little bit of perspective when thinking to judge someone else. You really don’t know what’s going on in their lives and god forbid people treat themselves on something every once in a while to make living in this capitalist hellscape bearable.
Let’s not look down on others because we make more money than they do and yeah, we can get shoes and send our kids to camp. we can go to college and get an iphone. but don’t make people feel shitty for making a choice when they couldn’t have both.
Thanks.
When I first read this post, I thought it was weird too. I’m glad somebody said what I think a lot of us were thinking.

Today, on the 60th anniversary of Emmett Till’s death, I did an impromptu & unorganized black history lesson. I didn’t intend to do this but like the last tweet says, sometimes I get jacked about history & just go off. I might expand this & make it longer in the coming days.
