Making history or maintaining the status quo?
Identities are not monolithic. Contained therein are multitudes of diverse political perspectives. We only empower a dogmatic view of our struggles when we flatten the full range of positions out there into a bastardized analysis which, un-ironically, serves more to maintain the status quo than it does fight it.
[T'hose who criticise critics of HRC for possibly enabling a Trump victory are over-invested in presidential politics and elections to the extent they don’t see how work actually needs to happen in other arenas and levels. Americans in particular seem over-invested in presidential politics in part because it allows them to think they’ve done *everything* possible to make the world right again. And then they completely retreat into their own worlds, only to reemerge again after four years, foaming at the mouth about how deeply important THIS election is, etc. But the work of political change happens at the local level, even in issues like the gentrification of neighbourhoods – if people were more political about such matters, and saw how connected all of that is to the larger picture, they might realize the Presidency is a blip in comparison.
On the Current Paranoia about Trump vs. Clinton | Yasmin Nair (via fullpraxisnow)
“Lesser evilism assumes that certain communities are disposable. It apportions people into rigid hierarchies. It judges who is worthy of safety and security. It asks us to voluntarily defer liberation. Lesser evilism may sound appealing as a practical metric, but it comes with severe human costs. […] Lesser evilism is possible only because we’re so accustomed to seeing certain people as lesser human beings.”
– Steven Salaita | Palestine and Hillary, ‘the lesser evil’
Look at me. Look me in the eye. On November the 8th, 2016, one of two things will happen: Hillary Clinton will become president, or Donald Trump will become president. These are the only two possibilities. The superdelegates aren’t going to switch. An indictment isn’t coming. There is no third possibility. There is no space between the spaces where you can hide. Every vote for Donald Trump requires two Hilary Clinton votes to overcome. A Hillary Clinton vote can only be overcome by two Donald Trump votes. If you stay home, a Donald Trump vote doubles its power. This is the real, actual reality of the situation. There is not one other option.
And there’s no ctrl-alt-del for the election. Read up on 2000 if you doubt this.
And to those of us who supported Bernie, he WANTS you to vote for Hillary. If you believe in him and his mission you will follow his advice. He knows that writing his name in, or voting for anyone else besides Clinton, is effectively voting for Trump.
Refusing to vote for Hillary is a vote for Trump, no matter how much you scream and say how it’s not. And if you’re standing by to do nothing in regards to taking down Trump, then you ARE grouped along with the rest of the people in this country that ruin things for everybody else.
guys!
the reason the two party system has survived this long is through manipulation leading to defeat like this whole post
when the time comes, depending on the state of affairs at the time of election i’m not sure what i’ll do. right now i’m planning on voting for Bernie or Jill Stein.
there is a lot of work you can be doing rather than rolling over and accepting Hillary. follow Jill Stein, sign petitions to open up the two party system. get involved in local politics. run for office. DO SHIT. research beyond a tumblr post.
“all the reasons you were told you had to vote for the lesser evil … we’ve gotten all that and much of it under a democratic white house so the politics of fear actually delivered everything we were afraid of”
“FORGET THE LESSER EVIL. FIGHT FOR THE GREATER GOOD LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE IT DOES”
“i think it takes selective amnesia to be terrified of republicans and comfortable with democrats”
“they rely on fear. why do they rely on fear? because they are not on your side”
“we can’t afford to do a little bit less worse than the republicans are gonna do to us”
if HRC takes presidency we WILL be involved in more wars. AND women are being drafted now. yes, they brought back the draft for the first time since the 70s starting in a few years.
she is a terrifying monster not only harmful to our country but every other country as well.

trump is not gonna build a wall. even if he took presidency, he won’t do a single thing he’s talking about.
we have a road of ahead until the convention. defeat now is RIDICULOUS and foolish.
“i think all kinds of crazy things could happen at those conventions”
lol…….. IF EVERYBODY WOULD LOOK BACK AT EVERYTHING I’VE BEEN SAYIN’ AND PRAYIN’ AND PREACHIN’ AND SAYIN’
I TOLD you from the jump that he is a long time friend of the Clintons. everything he says is a joke. literally it’s all an act. you can tell just listening to him speak he doesn’t believe a word of any of it.
and honestly, demanding people put their morals and convictions aside to vote for HRC is not only manipulative but it’s also dangerously irresponsible. especially considering the fact that most of the voters you’re persuading are young and impressionable and desperately seeking change.
If gender is innate, if girls and boys are just naturally different and naturally like different things, want different things, show different behaviors, why do we have to put so much effort, so much work into separating them? If gender was innate it wouldn't have to be indoctrinated into anyone. Everyone would naturally pick what they want to pick, and every girl would pick the same thing while every boy would pick the opposite. We would never have to tell any little girl or little boy anywhere, “this is not for you, it’s for boys/girls”.
